A great guy I had a major crush on in high school (we even went on one date - I invited him to a Sadie Hawkins dance) went our separate ways at graduation. (He never asked me out after the dance, because we were different religions (1964)! I lived in England and had left our home town for over 3 decades - and I became separated from my ex, and moved back to the USA. We had seen each other only twice in 40 years at HS reunions. My mother passed so I flew back to my home town - and HE SHOWED UP at her funeral to pay his respects and to see me! I was bowled over because I always assumed he didn’t care. He was divorced for 6 months and I was going through my divorce. I flew back to Massachusetts. He was in Ohio. He contacted my brother to get my address and began writing to me. Then he called regularly and it was like we’d never been apart. End of story: He asked me to marry him - that was 17 years ago and I have come full-circle, back to my hometown but with him! Life is so full of surprises - you just never know what’s around the corner! Susan, I 💕you and hope you have a wonderful meeting with your old friend tomorrow!! 🥰🙋‍♀️👏🙏💞

I'm one of those who doesn't have a family, and when I see...family is everything..I think no, Jesus is everything! I know we are created for community, and it's nice if you have it, but the Lord has taken care of me in special ways, and I know He will bring the right people in when it's time.

The sign - Family is Everything.... As someone who does not have family, when I see a sign like that, I do not feel bad. And as someone who has not had a close relationship for various reasons with my family it is kind of an issue of "You don't miss what you never had" . I think family would be great but I cannot imagine what it is actually like as I have not had that experience with a biological family,.. I do agree with the saying "You make your own family," I have had numerous people in my life that I do consider family and cherish that.

I agree, Cupcake...we make our own families. Many people have blood relatives whom they have very little in common with and very little connection or attachment to. Their friends more than fill in the gaps that family leave. I really believe that we can chose our friends, but not our family.

I did not receive a call, but I made a call. I stumbled upon my best friend from high school via Facebook. She was struggling with a second round of metastatic breast cancer. We connected and were able to spend good time together. I am so very fortunate to have rediscovered her and spend time with her before she passed away. I am so excited for your visit with Hal. I also love the story about the painting and isn’t it interesting that in 1918 there was a worldwide pandemic... just like now. Thank you Susan for another beautiful, inspiring video. XO

Yes, I had a friend like you have. He lived 2,000 mi away and was my husband's friend. He would call and check on us and make us laugh and smile and send flowers for years after my husband passed. I was to see him last July and was so excited. Unfortunately, he suddenly became ill and passed away. He was the best and we so appreciated him. Love every moment with every chance you have with your friend. ❤

I have no family and I’m comfortable with it. I know some who have families and also comes with plenty of luggage. I can do bad alone I definitely don’t need help. I have wonderful friends and freedom and there is a stronger higher force taking care of me. I’m good... it’s all ok.

Susan, when I was 15 yrs. old I was so in love with this older guy. He was 18 and I thought I couldn't survive if we couldn't be together. Of course my parents would never allow such a thing. We'd sneak and talk on the phone every chance we got. I'd see him every day at school, mostly passing in the hall while going to class. He graduated and I never seen him again. 47 yrs. later he found me on face book. It was so good to hear from him. The first time we talked on the phone, my heart was beating just as fast as it did years ago, lol We had such a sweet conversation. He calls me at least once a month to check on me. It's so exciting every time I hear his voice. It is good to connect with old friends or boyfriends. I hope you have a lovely time catching up with your old friend. Have fun!

When I checked voicemail, it was the voice of my best friend from high school (and beyond) saying, "I'm in Myrtle Beach, driving down 17, and I'm filled with memories of you and our beach vacations. Wish you were here." I called her right back and we had a lovely talk.

If I received a phone call from a old friend my life would be moving in a better direction. Today I thought of a old friend that I haven't spoke to in 16 years. I've tried several times with no responses. It hurts and brings 😢. But I said again to myself I'm a good person. And moved on. In addition to you question about family is everything 🙏. Wow!! I cry easy too. I was thinking as you were telling the story of the painting. I was thinking of this year , how tuff but wow such wonderful Blessing also. God opened doors from my ex ( who life’s out of town) I was able ( we worked it out) to move back into my house. What a blessing, so much to do, not much money , but fun and joy with what I can do. I love your videos 💞 I got a letter once from my best friend and we'd had a falling out years before but she told me in this letter how much she'd missed me and how sorry she was for what she'd done. Those pajama pants are beautiful. I don't care that we cry at silly things, or beautiful things or just a song, a picture or a warm breeze. Those tears lets us know we are alive and that beauty is still in our world. What a beautiful story about the old man. I think when we see old things like that, it comforts us and the familiarity is a security to us. I saw a little ceramic Christmas angel in an antique store a while back that looked like it was made in the fifties. It brought such a feeling of home and my mama that I bought it. It was really nothing but a little piece of junk seemingly but I was so much more in it. Have a beautiful time with your old friend. Those friends are gold.

Does a call from a family member fit. I lost my uncle back in February and his death has reunited 2 of my cousins. And it's the best feeling in the world. We hadn't talked since we buried my dad 30 years ago. We grew up together and lost touch. Never from the mind or the heart. We spent 6 hours on a 3 way call one night last week and we caught up. I told them it was a gift from my uncle in heaven. If we hadn't come together to honor him, it probably wouldn't have happened. I'm suppose to be tough as nails. I'm from NYC..My son calls me toughy. One thing I noticed is his very precise haircut and being well dressed and clean. So much to be grateful for despite conditions around us.

I’m so glad you found those slacks. They do look wonderful on you. You look fantastic with a belt around your waist. That’s nice that you’re going to meet with an old friend. I hope he gives you all the slides. I love the scent of lilacs. I wish I could find a perfume that smells like a real lilac. My Mother used to mix different perfumes together. Women she worked with would love how she smelled. They always wanted to know what she was wearing. She couldn’t tell them because she would just mix things. Love the wall pockets. The black one is beautiful. Also love the painting. I didn’t know the story behind it. I choose to see a sweet man praying over his food. Giving thanks to God. Love you, Lucy

My mother had a print of Grace hanging in her dining room. It meant so much to her and she would comment about it whenever I was at her house. It's so funny that you found one. I don't know what happened to my mom's copy. I really liked the music you played in this video. Desi is a charmer.

That painting was always my dad's favorite. He also was greatful for every blessing.

We had that painting in my childhood home. It gave me a sense of comfort and still does to this day. Thank you for your beautiful videos.

We had that painting, too! It hung on our dining room wall. The photographer, Eric Enstrom, was Swedish as is my family.That is one thing I will always remember that says “home“.

My favorite tree is the bare trees in winter. You see the beauty inside you don't see any other time. I do enjoyed the strong branches, the soft lackey finger of the trees today in tour video. I have that oil painting unframed and in my closet. It’s a Reproduction, My grandfather, a master painter whose paintings are all over the world , gave it to me. I liked your observation on the sign that read.. Family is Everything. It would be nice if we could all feel that were true but unfortunately that isn't always the case. I love my family members but they are not my everything simply because often times the one's you love the most can hurt you the most. I absolutely scored, and I love my brand new boots for my little size 5 feet! I had never heard of wall pockets, but I’m going to keep my eye out for one now! Hello Beautiful heart, I have just discovered you in the last three weeks and have watched several of your videos. I enjoy each and everyone so much and look forward to them now everyday. By the way, you do not look 66 years old. I am 78 years and have a heart of 40 years old. You inspire me, lift me up and bring happiness to me. Been out and about more the past few weeks, but always catch up with your wonderful videos. You’re a very special person and make so many people happy and/or grateful after watching. Love your sweet stories and shopping adventures at the thrift shops. Stay safe, enjoy your visit with your friend. I for one am looking forward to hearing all about it! I understand how nice it is to hear from old friends... mine is my first true love... and we always stayed friends although we lost touch for a long time.. last year I reconnected with him on the phone and it felt just like we fell back to the way things were.. we just talk and talk and laugh and he will always be special in my heart. I make a point of only talking to him on the phone because he has someone in his life so I respect that boundary. He will stay so dear in my heart forever. I am glad I had at least one true love in my life. Thanks for your videos and God bless you!!!!
