Tuscany Rose for a lunch. Stanford Blue for a dinner. Can't seem to pick just one! What about the serving dishes, do they go on the table too or are they kept separate so you serve and then sit down? Just curious. Yes, sometimes a marriage is over way before it actually ends. 2 people live in a house like strangers who don't even have the energy to fight. Till one person just walks out, most often having met someone new. The one left behind is blindsided but realizes soon enough if they are honest that love left those 4 walls a long while ago. You don't miss the person as much as the comfort of being part of the picture. The routine, the knowledge that things were ok day to day but ok is never enough. Then you cry, and those tears make you strong, you get up and move into a new way of life. Lessons learned, stronger, wiser and more compassionate with others. God bless her she will Survive.

Beautiful words and so true. It happened to me after 30 years of marriage. I was comfortable with the way we were; he wasn't. I miss him very much, but I am doing well and better off being alone.

Wow! Your friends story sounds like mine. She's right. The betrayal is the worst part. I feel the same. Nothing really changed, because he was never there. After 40 years I couldn't recognize the person he had become. With that said, its been four years and I am happier than I've ever been. The peace and Joy God has granted me is more than I can express. I Love my new life.

I so look forward to Saturday evening and wait for your video. I’m 69 and resonate so much with you. I love both of your table settings. The Tuscan Rose is so warm, cozy and colorful. The blue and white is gorgeous as well, but reminds me of cool, summer, classic vibes. For old friends and I choose the warm Tuscan Rose for cozy friendship conversation and laughter. I so miss dinner parties. For 34 years I would entertain once a month for 11 lady friends until Covid hit. I used to thrift for old rare English porcelain teacups/saucers until I had 12. So when I had a party and it was time for dessert, the ladies would rush in to the kitchen to pick out their favorite teacup for coffee or tea with dessert. They said it was the most favorite part of the evening. Plus I always made sure to have a little something to give out to each person to take home. Nothing expensive, just a little something…could be a little poem rolled up with a ribbon, piece of special candy, little trinket, coaster…..etc. Thank you for all your advise, reminiscing, thoughts and helpful ideas. Sweet Desi, is blessed to have you. Much luv to you both….❤

I am the happiest I have been in 30 years. I'm single and enjoying my freedom. Stayed in an abusive marriage way to long. Love my peace and have no regrets. Susan, you have brought together a sisterhood of like minded women! I almost cry sometimes when you pop up on my feed. You are a friend to us all. At our age we are experiencing all sorts of difficulties but God can and will bring us through the storm! You are a testament to that! Many decades ago when both my mother and mother-in-law were widowed, I made Mother's Day brunch for them. I used fresh cut flowers from my garden in my centerpiece. It had been a very long time since those two hard working ladies had been treated to being catered.. I miss both of them.

I’ve been married for 52 years. It’s not always been easy but I would be devastated if my husband walked out. If he passed away, I’d grieve from loneliness. I just about fell out of my chair laughing at the end with you and little Desi singing.....it was a belly laugh.....y'all are a fabulous team ♥ I absolutely love the Tuscany Rose pattern and have been searching at thrift shops for it but no luck yet....one of my favorites. Of the two, that's my favorite tablescape. My favorite color is purple so I'm drawn to it. I have a Pfaltzgraff pattern currently and it has purple in it. My heart hurts for your friend who's husband was so deceitful to her. I was married 28 years and felt that even married I had been "living alone" for many years. We were high school sweethearts and I was devastated when we divorced but managed to live through it. It was a tough road, but with my friends and God I came out on the other side a much stronger person. Your friend is very lucky to have you as a friend to walk the road with her♥ Please give her a Texas size Hug.....

Thank you Susan! You keep us going with your joy, advice, and love. I’m so sorry that happened to your friend. 39!years of your life is beyond a very long time. She’s going to do fine. We do not have her name, but God knows who we are praying for her.

My story is close to the same as your friend. I was blindsided when my husband of 36 yrs left me for a mutual “friend” of 30 yrs. He tried his best to get me to join him with a mediator (of his choice). But I hired an attorney. He dragged this divorce out for 3 yrs because we was trying to hide monies, but I subpoenaed for documentation. Long story short, although the first 2 yrs were emotionally draining on me, the last 8 years have been the best years of my life! I know that your friend will bloom from this…keep checking in on her, supporting and loving her. My circle of friends shrank considerably when he walked out, but what counts is the quality, not the quantity 💕

An important thing to remember is to use unscented candles at the dinner table, So important❣️

My favorite thing about having a dinner party is setting the table. A centerpiece of beautiful candles and fresh flowers make the food and wine taste so much better.❣️

Oh how I love your videos. I lost my mother this Sunday at 101 years old! Watching you and Desi at the end makes me smile. Beautiful dinner settings! My heart goes out to your friend.❤

Dear Susan and Desi, I can't begin to tell you how much your videos have been a comfort for me. My partner and I separated, amicably, after 25 years together. It's been a crazy year as I was also diagnosed with autism and adhd at the age of 56. Your videos help me so much in giving me hope that I could make it on my own. I moved into my little cottage, small and cosy for one, a couple of days ago and I've never been happier. I'm looking forward with hope, freedom and excitement for the future. I am so sorry about your friend divorced, I know the feeling I was married for thirty one years .I WAS so shocked and betrayed. I had to get two lawyer neither one was any good .He owes me over one hundred thousand, and left the country. I have lately found out he has lung cancer ,an i am.praying for him. I have my three greatest blessing ,my children .Its been fourteen years ,but i can never even had a date .My trust is broken foever.

I know what you mean about broken trust! Once “kicked in the teeth” like that, or twice as in my case, I have no desire to ever be that vulnerable again!! There are much worse things than being alone. We just are not built for that Kind of pain. Praying for Susan’s dear friend now, and hope those girls have a fabulous time tonight at the dinner party! Susan didn’t tell us what she’s cooking - I wonder what’s on the menu?

I give formal tea parties for my grandchildren 3 times a year...Christmas. valentines. Easter. Because I thrift the China plates and tea cups I can risk a child breaking one...but it's worth the risk because of how special it makes them feel. They love the expectation of manners and polite conversation. I love making fussy and beautiful food.

When i was married in the '80s, i used Martha's idea of different place settings. I would scrounge the garage sales, the flea market for single place settings of nice china style. I used mason jars and small bud vases, wine glasses and tiny flat bowls for candles and flowers, depending on what i was serving and who. Id use cheap fake pearls and rhinestone brooches as decor. Miss match platers and bowls that just went together. Vintage linens. I get yoyr message of just be open to possibilities and be creative. Great message today, Susan. I hope the party was absolutely spectacular. Cheers!

Beautiful table scapes! The Italian one seems more like an afternoon vibe and the blue seems more evening. But either would work. Desi and his bowtie! And his rendition of Irish Eyes, priceless! 🤣🤣💕

Tuscan Sunflowers! Both tablescapes are beautiful, and blue is my favorite color. But the sunflowers along with the yellow and green just make me happy.

I think some of us used to make beautiful dinner table setting. Life changed and some have beautiful glasses etc still in the cupboard not used. Maybe take them out. Make a beautiful table just for yourself. We don't have to order a date online. Sometimes loving your own company can be just as memorable experience.

Absolutely loved setting a beautiful table. Everything was either thrifted or very inexpensively purchased , cloth tablecloths, napkins and candles. My friends and I all came from middle class families and they were always thrilled to sit down to a beautifully set table. A moment of elegance and class which most of my group would usually not take time or interest to do. It was my passion and an act of love for my friends. I’m 82 now so those are sweet memories of the past. Love your vlog…and Desi too. 🎉🎉🎉🎉

I don't have a favorite table...I love them both. So nice to have a friend like you to share the love. My only suggestion would be to keep the center piece low enough so all guests can make eye contact. Until next week. Enjoy!!!

I love both of your Table Scapes!! So Pretty! My daughter has such a talent as yours to bring forth a beautiful Table! Yours reminded me of how hers come together. Sometimes, as life rolls along, we find that the person whom we chose to follow those wonderful paths of life, has veered off onto another path and we did not even see how silently and quietly that happened. I will pray for your friend. Right now, she may not think it, but once the clouds all clear out.. she is going to find so much joy and fun and happiness knowing she no longer is living in a false life. Susan I “Loved” your table settings for both the blue and the Italian inspired colours. I have always through the years like to add something special when setting my table. You do have a gift for decor and you are so creative. Really enjoyed this but then you finished off singing “ When Irish eyes are Smiling”and it brought tears as my dad worked most of his life in a music store my uncle owned and he was Irish so the whole store was very Irish. My dad passed away 29 years ago tomorrow so I think he was wanting my attention when all of a sudden you sang this song, with Desi of course. 😂💓 I know St. Patrick’s Day is just around the corner but it surprised me when you sang one of my mom and dad’s favourite songs. Hello, I am new to your channel and love both tables you did. Please tell your friend I have been in her spot. I worked as chef and had a catering company. My ex cleaned out our accounts and took the house. I was embarrassed and felt alone. I stopped cooking because I lost the passion I once had. It took time to rebuild myself, but I did. Please tell her that she is strong, smart, and beautiful. She does not need any man to take care of her. She will get through this, and she will be better than before. Tell keep her head high, but also forgive him. Don't forget, just forgive. Tell her to keep smiling and to kill him with kindness. She is amazing and she will come out on top.

I lost "EVERYTHING"...... things that can "never be replaced"..."3 times"....property, cars, my babies shadow boxes I made with their hair, baby shoes, baby jewlery, my deceased mother's shadow box w. my baby pictures of her & I together, her favorite valuable antique watch.....yes, the STUFF meant a lot, I've accumulated stuff, not as special as that stuff......bought my own cars, " nice cars", but those shadow boxes, my big roll top desk left w. all of my stationary, special pens, my credit cards & checks!......it's similar, "I think", to losing everything in a fire, flood.......?

That sweetheart Desi...the canine crooner! I realized, as I was listening to you two singing, that I had a huge smile on my face. You two need to do a greatest hits album.....just love you both!

A similar thing happened to me 17 yrs ago. We bought a house together and he dumped me the night I moved in. Left me holding the bag. I had a nervous breakdown and cried for months. Was 57 then. Got a job and went to work. Got thru it but my spunky spirit left. But aside from that, I do so love to set a beautiful table, cook yummy food for loved ones, and create magical experiences for friends and family. I admit to being naive about these things, but I am so often shocked at the cruel things people do to each other. That was such a horrible thing he did and it had to be devastating for you. I am glad you got through it. I understand how you were so changed by the whole thing. That kind of betrayal is hard to recover fully from and I think we are all changed by our experiences. I thought I have heard it all, seen it all, "been through it all".... but this is amazing and extremely cruel, almost demonic, to play with a heart given to you for a lifetime, to not have a shred of decency, compassion, honor, testosterone... Susan, your gift to take thrifted items and make them into something beautiful and elegant is amazing. On my bucket list….a day of thrift shops with Susan, followed by a lovely meal and a serenade from Desi!! I loved the brightness and the airiness of the Tuscany table, but both are just lovely. This video just might be my favorite, Susan. Both table settings are so beautiful and elegant that I cannot choose one over the other. And the fact that many of the items were thrifted proves you have an amazing eye for design. Wow, I sure would like to be one of your guests at that dinner party! I love to see sweet Desi singing with you. He is so adorable!

Both settings are beautiful, however, since I am of Mediterranean descent, I loved the first, more colorful display. 😍

What a wonderful video! I love both settings, the Tuscan more than the Stanford. The musical thread is always right on! Then suddenly. . . a judo chop to the throat. Susan, you are a wonderful Friend to Maggie. She's brave and strong to say to you, "sure, share it". I'm going to be praying for her because it's got to be difficult to 'lose a body part' like she has, her husband. It's been 10 years and I believe she's going to be alright. We never know when love turns into a habit. Let's pray for God's comfort and strength for her. BTW, I love those little lights!!! I couldn't take my eyes off of the floral arrangement you put them in. Continued Blessings!

What's that I see?!! Desi has snuck up upon a beautiful bunch of lavender crocuses....this is something that brings back my childhood memories!!! Lastly, what a great sign as well that spring is just around the corner as well!!!

I was pretty sure there would be more to this week’s video than table settings as fun and special as they are, and sure enough, the story about your friend! I appreciate how you always weave in the deeply important matters and it was so moving about your friend helping with the dinner party. Your dinner party o know will be beautiful and it's not because of the plates you use, it's because of you! You will welcome them with a smile. But my favorite would have to be the tea rose setting, it's just fitting for spring to come. I can absolutely relate to your gf story, my marriage, well, roommate situation has gone on so many years, I'm alone anyways, but at almost 60, the fear of money is all that keeps me around, there are no warm hugs, in fact, there are no words. I stay for my dogs, 2 beautiful loving labradors that love me and count on me for everything. I should have your sweet little guy teach mine to sing, then they could get a job and we could run away!! Lol. Have a beautiful party. 🥂

Just love watching you and Desi. He is the sweetest lil Fur baby. Both table settings are absolutely beautiful. The Blue one is my pick. Subtle elegance. Also the added twinkle lights. Thank you always for sharing.

The thing is, I too love twinkle lights, but the upkeep, the turning on, off, batteries......I have always plugged my delicate lights in, all year, left them on, unplugged them during the day when I got to it, or had a timer........"is this a me problem" ?

My mother taught me well:-) I love old things as well as newer stuff, and thrifting is something I love to do. I will be 70 this May and your videos are just wonderful. First I wanta say I’m dearly sorry for your friend who’s going through a divorce, I can relate to losing my big house down to an apartment after decades in my home. Although I was strong, it still broke my heart and I cried for 2 or 3 years into my pillow. I’ll keep her in my thoughts and prayers. I’d also say, don’t spend, save every cent. make HIM pay 💯% of the divorce, and ask for Alimony for life, especially if she’s disabled in any way. also take half of insurance policies and half of any investments. This comes from my own divorce and losses in 2009. And DON’T feel bad for asking what SHE deserves, every darn cent!! ….. Your tables are lovely Susan, you inspire me to do better, to be a host again in my small place . I’m excited to have a luncheon soon, with ladies in our condo building who look out for each other, in a way I never thought possible. They came to my rescue recently when my dog became sick, what a blessing they all are. … keep being you Susan you’re my inspiration. Do 🌷🌸🌷😅

I love matching glass goblets to the table setting. I have them in amber, cobalt blue, deep red, lavender, moss green and pale pink. I get most at the thrift store. And since I have a small home and vintage round table.., I usually only need 4 goblets and plates. This makes it easy since a lot of the small salad plates come in sets of 4. Both of your tablescapes are gorgeous. I collect blue and white , so thats my favorite. But I do love getting out of my comfort zone and trying new colors and patterns. Can't wait to see the menu and your dinner party! Trust me... not only will your friend be ok... she will end up happier and more at peace then ever before. Been there ... done that!!!! You can't see it til its in the rear view mirror !

Both table scapes are stunning. But I kept thinking about the movie under the Tuscan Sun. I hope you have a wonderful time with your friends and renew memories, and make new ones.
