Hi Susan. I would love to have you as my neighbor. You are so genuine & have such a sweet spirit. I have no favorite fall decorations this year. I lost my husband 4 months ago & my son 2 months ago. My deepest sympathy for the loss of your husband and son...I can't imagine what you are going through but I am saying my best prayers for you and your family. I so admire your strength and your bravery to tell us a little of your sorrow....and your words will one day help another...but for right now, I offer you my love and well wishes that someday you will be whole again....not even death can stop all that love. So sorry for your loss of your Husband and your Son. I hope I never have to loose a child. I don’t have a husband. I love Suzanne as well. I love her channel. I wish I was her neighbor as well. We could be the Golden Girls for real not just a Tv Sitcom. Which I loved that show. Be blessed. 🌹🌹🌹

Thank you, Susan. You are my new inspiration. I have gone back and watched your videos. I am not single, I’m 68. Your stories about Cooper, your mom, your search for your dad and family, and your ex-husband deeply touched me. You’re a survivor! And Desi is adorable and mean’t to be yours. Today I decided to live my best life. Use the good dinnerware, cutlery and glassware. Wear the things I love, put on the jewelry and perfume, even when I am only enjoying my home. And my dog, Dylan, is always by my side. I will be sure to come back and visit.

John doesn't hate you. After all,he took the time to call you. That's special.

Love all the memories you have of your grandfather. My grandfather was the same for me. Spent just about every weekend with him till his death when I was 12 years old. He was an artist, had a miniature easel for me, and we spent hours painting together. We would go into church to say hi to GOD as we walked by and then went to church Sunday morning . He constantly gave away his “spending money” my grandma gave him for paint (he was retired) to the homeless in town even bringing one of the men home for dinner and giving him his new suit . The worst day of my life was the day he died. But at his funeral , there was a line 2 miles long of people who wanted to say goodbye to him, including all the homeless he helped and counseled, including the man my grandfather gave his new suit to, who proudly walked over to me in that suit with tears in his eyes. My grandfather comes to me in my dreams whenever life gets tough. Last night, in my dream he came to me and took my hand and we went, as we always did, to pick violets and lillies of the valley bouquets for grandmother and all the neighbors. We are both blessed we had grandfathers who stepped up to help us when we so needed it as a child. And they are still watching over us now. God bless, Marie

This year is rather sad for me I lost my precious dog Dusty, I had him for 14 years. He was such a beautiful faithful friend, I am just heartbroken. Hi Jen welcome to our little Home Town I called Little Poet Ville. I found Suzanne not that long ago and I too love her and Desi. She always makes me feel calm and relaxed. I am older than you however no matter what age you always are learning new things. When I was in my Mid twenties I went thru a very horrific divorce. I loved him so. Yet I just couldn’t share him with another woman. Who was at that time my bestfriend and she was also married. Yet it’s all good now. I forgave her within a year she got my husband yet it didn’t last with them a year. We had 10. So I was alone with a 4 year old. Who was and is a good man. Yet he has his own family. So I was ticked to find Susan. I just love her too bits. No matter what. Just due your best to go with the flow. I tried to fight against so many things. Yet I found it was so much harder than it was to let it pass thru you. To me I was so happy to find her because we are the both over 60. I used to think omg 60 is old. Yet you know what when I hit that number of years. I was like wow. I do t feel as if I am the age I am because my heart is still young. My Daddy always told me you only as old as you feel. Some days I feel old. Yet I did this when I was younger too. So come on hang out. I have 3 children yet they are adopted and have 4 legs yes my Furbabies which I love with all I have. Hello Jen!!! I am so happy you are here....living with anxiety is really something else! I think the thing that helps is knowing that you are not alone...and that it gets better with age. Deep breaths and dancing to my favorite songs always seem to calm me down...but one size doesn't fit all. I know when my blood sugar is low because suddenly I am filled with an odd feeling of " HYPER-THOUGHTS"!!! And so I have learned to pop a hard candy and say a prayer....life is such a journey...I am so happy you are here....love always from me and Desi

I have to say that I just LOVE that John called to check on you. That simple gesture from someone that most likely is not sentimental and may lack emotional feelings wanted to know that you were safe. That is the character that movies are made of. The crusty person that hides a heart of gold for reasons they are the only ones who know. Life’s small but grand moments. ❤️

You are such a calming voice for me and I look forward to your weekly videos. Starting over is bittersweet. I was divorced 3.5 years ago and separated a year before that. 29 year marriage. I was very wrapped up in my home and motherhood. I am now in a lovely apartment and am very blessed to be here. However, I struggle to find a purpose anymore. I am 66. I tend to be an introvert and value alone time but I get very lonely sometimes. My friend base changed after the divorce and I'm alright with that. I find it harder to make deep connections now. I have looked into volunteering but haven't checked since the lock down as I cannot wear a mask all day. I do read, a bit of writing, crochet and watch some TV. I know I need to reach out more with people. I hate talking on the phone and always have. I'd rather do one on one. I think I need to get out of my box and just pick up the phone. i love the fall in nova scotia its so beautiful . i go to my she shed put my wood stove on and brew a pot of coffee and watch my favorite you tubers . i enjoy walking on the beach collecting sea glass . i love to collect vintage fall decor

My favorite thing about fall is I can stay home, light my candles and get cozy. Life slows down from the summer activities and I can reflect on things past and future. It's an ending and a new beginning.

I just moved to my new construction townhome September 3rd alone with my shih tzu boy, so our lives are sort of parallel. This is the first fall without my Mother, and I am living alone for the first time in my life. I love fall in the country. I like to decorate with real gourds and pumpkins and fall potpourri. Desi is so adorable. Your views are so amazing.

What a lovely vid! I abs love the colours and the feel of autumn. Nature taking a deep breath in a final flourish before winter comes. We don't really go in for seasonal home-decorations in Scotland but this year I have decided to set the trend!... I have a small glass-topped cast-iron table which sits outside my flat door; on it are several artificial green leafy plants, and to the display, I have added a small ceramic pumpkin and 2 acorn-shaped orange bowls filled with pine cones. I can guess that my neighbours think it's an odd thing to do but I love it! Happy Autumn to you & Desi!

“Morning Susan!” I’m a recent subscriber and after viewing several of your videos I must tell you how amazed I am at your never ending talents. Moving and getting settled is a never ending task, yet, you did it in record time...decorating, hanging pictures, shower curtains, oh, I could go on and on. And now, today, I played your music and I’m just blown away! I could and would like to add so much more here, but it would get too lengthy, so I’ll just add one little thing more. How about this...include in one of your next videos you, at your keyboard, (I noticed it in the tour) playing and singing one of your little ditties for us? Don’t be shy now... just do it! I’m sure it would lighten everyone else’s heart as it did mine. Thank you for you.

Glad you hurried. And fall has found you! As a child around 10 yo, I made cloves oranges, poking little cloves in the orange and wrapping ribbon around them for hanging. No one really had any interest in them but I hung in my closet as I loved the scent, wilted orange and all. Every year (for 50 years) I’d get a bottle of cloves and decorate oranges with little patterns of cloves, buying decorative ribbon and hanging a few from the curtain rod. I love the memory and that’s my favorite fall decoration. I loved being 10, too. Thank you for the nice glimpse into your life.

It’s so interesting the traditions we create for ourselves without really planning them! The cloves oranges are like nature’s charms. Enjoy!

It wouldn’t be fall for me without beautiful burgundy, yellow and orange mums on my front porch and in my flower beds. Sentimental- takes me back to my grandmother who has been gone now for decades. Oh, how I love them!

I love the variegated corn they dry for your door. Haven’t seen any this year yet. I wanted to tell you, I lived in a senior housing complex for six years, and had a lot of friends. I don’t have any specific fall decorations for my home (I live in a small condo so I don’t have a lot of room for storage and the storage room that I have I use for Christmas decorations), but what I really love is lighting the pilot light for my gas fireplace for the first time after summer ends. There is something so cozy and comforting having the fireplace going, it makes everything seem ok; I love sitting in front of it with a cup of coffee and a good book or watching you and Desi on KZread.

The Marshall's/Amazon sweater is beautiful...and sold out! I imagine that you meant more to "the neighbor who hates me" than you will ever know. You should give him a call every now and then to make sure he is safe and sound as well.

Fires outdoors while laying in my hammock, with a glass of red wine, making homemade cream soups, any fall scented candle, and being nowhere but everywhere in my ❤️

Oh Susan, your Desi just takes my breath away! He is so handsome. I love, love, love how you have decorated your new apartment. It's just lovely & you even have a back porch to sit & drink coffee. I have a wreath I bought for my Mom several years ago. It was in the florist's window with all orange, wine & brown leaves, etc. I lost my Mom in August to the COVID virus. So it was a bittersweet time to hang the wreath she loved so much.

Your neighbor John did not hate you...he actually admired you from afar. I absolutely love your videos, they always make me have hope in people. That there are actually good, kind, warm, friendly and loving people still exist in this world such as yourself. You are a lovely lady with such class and a great sense of style. I have never heard that quote before, but I have read it several times now. It’s a beautiful quote and, I believe, so true. Maya Angelou said “the ache for home lives in all of us“. Your new place has such a beautiful setting and I hope you’re happy there for many years. I feel a little sad that on your moving day no one was there to wave you goodbye. I kind of like John-the-neighbor-who-hates-you. Those gruff on the outside but tender on the inside guys are interesting to me. He has shown you his true self and he has a good heart. Oh SUSAN!!! I am so happy to see you! I have been so busy this week....and I did get to talk to Bill...it's been so many months since I have seen him...it hurts so much....I try to push it from my mind.Now cases are going up here again so I assume I won't be able to see Bill for many more months. The cruelty of this is just too much...but we do call...I do get to tell him I love him. They have just moved Bill so I can go ot his window...I have not yet...I am afraid to. How are you? I think of you often and am getting ready to frame the picture you sent me....oh my!!! One of the most magical things to ever happen to me...sending you my love always and always, Susan and Desi

Today was a favorite fall day: 60s, rainy, little wind, family time at my daughter's house with teamwork assembling the new dining room table. Snoozy sugar naps on the 'blackhole' couch all snuggly while young granddaughter plays some game on my phone. Football game as white noise. Memories. Heritage. Love.

So glad John reached out to connect to you ....Men are so needy of a women's essence and poor John misses you so much that it must have taken a lot of his courage to call and let you know you are missed....by him. You are so wise to know his loss and yet understand he really enjoyed you. Happy fall, .....pumpkins, apples, leaves, cool weather, candles and a fireplace.....

Susan you have no idea how much your light and positivity help people. My sweet mother passed away at the end of July at the age of 95 from Alzheimer’s. I had taken care of her for the last 5 1/2 years and was blessed to be able to keep her in her home until she passed. But since then I’ve felt so lost, adrift like a ship without an anchor. Haven’t felt like decorating or doing much of anything. I have just watched this video of yours and even though it’s a totally different kind of change that you’ve gone through, it made me realise my mother would have wanted me to grieve and then get on with my life. So I have gotten my fall decorations down and dug out my fall candles and cute pillows. My pumpkins for my porch and I am going to live my life again. So thank you for being your fabulous self and helping me to move forward again. Just love you 😍

OH dear Shannon..through my tears here over the loss of your dear Mother and your own pain....I thank you for such beautiful words. Those that loved us would want us more than anything to be happy...and after my own Mother passed I was just sobbing and sobbing and then suddenly I saw myself through her eyes...sitting and crying and not living...and from that day on I changed. In my humble opinion, love never dies...it's part of us and who we are...and we go on...I am so lucky and so grateful you are in my life. I love your new "cottage" in the woods, Susan. It is so charming and shows off your gorgeous decor so impressively. I call my cottage (apartment) in trees, "Autumn Mist" I have a huge cemetery in back of me behind a tall fence...it is so beautiful. I don't think "John" hates you at all! He sounds lonely, unhappy and someone who is very guarded from past hurts and rejections. Obviously he cares very much about how you are getting along. Sounds like he needs a friend to care about him as well. I'm a decade older than you are and thought of you this past week as I got the news that my ex partner of 5 years and love of my life, passed away last weekend from a long battle with COPD.. I remember when your ex was slowly dying and how you would visit him. I thought to myself, now I know how our "Little Poet" felt. You don't think it will hit you as hard as it does. It has been a painful week as memories come flooding into my brain and tears run uncontrollably through out the nites ..especially. I have felt so lost without him even though I hadn't seen him for three years. Maybe there was that little glimmer of hope that was lingering in the shadows of one more chance.. Today...Saturday...is better even though I still find myself in and out of bed exhausted from sleepless nites. Now I understand how it must have hurt you. Love like this is timeless and never leaves us. Chapters close and new ones open...so goes the cycle of life. All is meant to be and happening for a reason. You sound like such a caring lady. I love Susan. She’s been such a blessing and so beautiful and romanticis, sensitive and sweet. Beautiful voice. I agree about John. Sad. I have an abusive husband of 53 yrs. now Dementia, violent, won’t go to dr, lost my daughter 2 yrs ago, never get over it. Lost my job because I got trampled. Gallbladder-surgery this Wed. Back and Carodvartery to follow, and this past Friday new Dr for back informed me I need 2,hip replacements, that’s the xtra pain. I can’t walk. Can’t drive now, can’t leave house, hell on earth. Wish so badly this man was who I thought he was. Gotta be strong. Lonely and hurt. Thank god for Susan. Ive watched since her beginning. I wish life was better. She deserves the best and doesn’t complain.

Feralgal46, I feel your pain and I understand it. A love that strong never dies...you just have to find a way through it, don't you ! It tears your heart out everytime something comes along to remind you of them. I wish you all the best and hope your heart heals soon.

@@maryellenlibonati4901 Thank you Mary Ellen. I'm so sorry for your situation. All of my relationships and my marriage were toxic and abusive in one way or another. I finally had to ask myself why did I ignore all the red flags and then why did I stay so long. There is much to learn in the "whys". Yes, Susan is a dear and so empowering for the aging woman. She proves we can create beautiful lives for ourselves. She is magical to say the very least. She has surrounded herself with beauty when she had nohing. We can do that too. hugs, Karen

@@wandalanders8700 Thank you, Wanda. Your words are very comforting. Today was much easier. I now understand things I didn't before. I will have more compassion for others in this situation. Somehow, we think that because people have divorced or left someone hurtful, that t hey stop loving them but that isn't always the case. Sometimes it just comes down to our having to walk away because we love ourselves too and can't be hurt anymore...self preservation ...but the love and desires can still linger on. Karen

I too love fall candles the recent one is Cider lane smells wonderful from Bath and body works! I have alot of wall signs in my home and I love the one that says Gather here with grateful hearts! That's fall for me enjoying the scenic places and being thankful!

I can’t pick just one it’s my favorite that I’ll always have with me. My family is still home and I love this felling. The fall decor reminds me of that. But I know they want always be with me. But looking at certain things will remind me of the felling when they where. I’ll keep it all. And the memories will be with me even when they are not. I’ve been married for 34 yrs. Hey there, Susan. Two things... first, I love that you always dress little Desi in those dapper bowties every week. He's such a precious, sweet boy. I'm glad you have each other. Second, I think that neighbor who "hates you" probably cares a little more than he'd like to. He's going to miss you. And everyone else that didn't say goodbye on that last day... they probably couldn't bear to get emotional in front of you. Poor ol' gruff John. 💖 Emotions are tough for some folks. Just so you know... you bring a lot of joy each week, with your shopping adventures, and your smiling face, talking about life in general. Some of us really need your kind of gentle spirit.

Hi Susan, my favorite thing about fall is the different variety of teas available. I love to buy the seasonal tea packs or variety packs to have on hand or give as gifts with a nice tea cup or mug; In fall the cooler weather permits having hot tea in the afternoons and going to a local coffee shop is fun too. I was so excited for you when you showed the lake and I look forward to seeing some of those shops you visit with all their gifts and decorations as you walk from shop to shop. I hope you get a puppy stroller for Desi, so he can enjoy the shop walks too.

You and Dezi are the sweetest little couple - you always give me comfort and joy!!! Thank you for being my KZread friends - just love you!!! I look forward to fall too - sweater weather, changes in my pretty gardens, different types of pumpkins from our favorite farm store, Sunny Farms, here in beautiful Sequim, Wa - on the Olympic Peninsula. The trees show off their bright colorful burst of living glory - a feast for the eyes. Oh, and homemade apple crisp with Hagan Daz vanilla ice cream - apples from Sunny Farms!!! 😋 💝 Thank you so much for sharing your ode to fall. I would say my Fall favorites are more in the food category. Looking forward to indulging in more pumpkin rolls, chili with cheese and corn chips, butternut squash and ginger soup, pot roast, stews with buttered bread on the side, pumpkin pie, vegetable soup with a side of cornbread and chicken pot pie.
