I think that was a great character interaction And a very fluid way to have Superman go all out. At least that's what I got from the interaction

Honestly i am a bigger fan of the battles that actually give world building,and I think going from Goku wanting to fight Superman due to him being strong, to Superman pummeling Goku brutally to show he can never win,to Superman and Goku realizing they can just reverse whatever damage is made,and that Superman realized Goku just wanted a strong opponent to fight with no malicious intent, and they became bros in the end. This feels like the end of a long story, which is odd because its only 3 episodes over the span of 10+ years,but it's satisfying

It’s fascinating how we all (excluding myself, I was incredibly hyped for this episode upon it’s announcement) went from groaning in disappointment to popping off when the episode came out. Never in my life did I ever think that Goku VS Superman would be praised by non Death Battle fans, but here we are. It’s nice to see people complimenting something for it’s entire package instead of whining about it because their favorite character didn’t win.

One thing, for me, is the "world made of cardboard" line. Normally, it's about how much he has to hold back, and it still is to an extent. He's up against Goku, though, and he knows that everything can be fixed like nothing actually happened, so he's able to let loose and enjoy himself. He's so used to "a world of cardboard" that he has to stop and go "it'll break, but it should be fine to just enjoy myself with this" and actually not have to worry about anything aside from having fun. It probably could've been said/shown a bit more obvious if that's what they were actually going for, but I do like it when things aren't said outright and people can think about it for themselves.

I think it's also cuz he realized goku is strong enough to take it. If we go to where the line originated it's referring to how darkseid can take the hit. Obv goku isnt as strong as superman or darkseid but he's strong enough to push superman (which I like how they basically made superman go all out to win as a sorta favor for DB fans). Superman didn't have to hold back anymore and goku could take the punishment meaning he can just focus on having fun and doing everything to win which is further implied by the narrative of the fight

Glad this matchup finally got the glow-up it deserved, especially on Superman’s side of things. The best remaster/rematch of any episode I’ve ever seen in the show’s history, most engaging animation to date, and my outright favorite conclusion in the entire show. It outclasses the classic one by a wide margin despite it being my favorite finale thus far. A massive 12/10, like the highest 12 I could give it. Next Time has me the most excited I’ve ever been for a finale let alone a matchup that has a series in it I hold dear to my heart. Sad Unicron most likely loses, but it’s fine since this is probably the top best Transformers matchup ahead of Mega Man X VS Optimus Primal.

@@BaithNa Galactus and Unicron are the best for both without a doubt. Anti-Monitor has Anti-Spiral and Ego can fight Mogo.

I think why this episode is my personal favorite now is because it emphasizes the core of the entire series. That it is a celebration of characters and truly going into what these characters are about. It has a lot of heart that reminds me why I stuck around from the beginning.

Love the take on how this and the original are two sides of the same coin. It adds so much nuance to the new one's existence!

"Blink and you'll miss it Rock Paper Scissors match" I get that reference.

This episode is so personal to me These two characters ARE my childhoods, seeing them together having a good time means so much to me. I been having one of the most stressful and lost times in my life. But the day Goku vs Superman released was also my bday, and I was able to just, sit and watch it with my sister. While my blood family continued to make me feel worse, I was able to make an unforgettable memory with my sister, in that moment I felt happy, exactly what Superman and Goku embody for me, hope, happiness and self-improvement. This episode was a birthday I had with my sister that I'll never forget. Thank you sis you are why I fight on very day

I got really excited when I saw they were doing this episode because I got my dad into death battle and it gave me the excuse to make him watch the first one and the episode was pretty good too

The Death Battle Crew are some of the most talented artists ever, not just on the internet. I was really not into this idea but damn if they didn’t prove me wrong. Some of my favorite character animation, another banger from Brandon(seriously the string section is still stuck in my head), and an ending that starts super hype and ends really wholesome. Only the DB crew can make me glad they did the same match up three times. Bravo.

I think the biggest win for this episode, is the post battle Q&A afterward, now goku and superman are free to fight other opponents now

I was of the opinion that this rematch was a huge waste of time, and we should have gotten a unique match up for either character instead. What we got changed my mind completely, and I went from literally just checking who the winner was and that was it, to watching and rewatching the episode because it was so incredibly good.

Man, I love this episode! That final clash was amazing, and that song justify the entire episode xD

That Ultra Instinct Kamehameha is probably the single best scene in all of Death Battle.

If I may give my piece on this, I was very surprised when I first saw the announcement mostly since I wasn't expecting this at all. And well, I didn't see much discussion on it in the areas I'm in, mostly since I'm not a member of the DB Discord and don't see the comments section much. But when I saw the actual fight, I fell in love. The fight was just so beautiful.

My main worry was that it would end up like the second one, but the way they did this made me so happy and I found myself enjoying it just for what it was and that they seemed to just be having genuine fun brawling with each other.

This is a phenomenal video. Even though you've been pushing this point since like the beginning of the season... at least in recollection could be longer, I think that the whole "everyone has the right to have an opinion good or bad" thing was a great thing to highlight. Its part of the reason that I personally watch these vids, cause whatever opinion it is, you're not gonna lie to appease people. Its also Dope that you were able to get some joy with comparing and contrasting the first and recent GvS'. I was of the thought that initially didn't like the episode coming out, until one of my buddies pointed out the view of the "how far we've come" thing this was probably more focused on. Something that, unless I just haven't watched the right reviews, wasn't really voiced like it was here. Thank you for that, the video, and all future projects that may come out.

I'm really glad that the general reaction has been so positive to the episode. It's really easy for these debates to get out of hand, I think you can attest to that with some of the episodes this season whoch you understandably won't review

I was definitely indifferent when this episode was announced, and wasn't very surprised when you just hadn't mentioned it in your review of The Doctor and Rick. But then when the episode came out and I gave it a watch, I was genuinely surprised how much I enjoyed it. I think part of it was not only from just how good the episode was in my eyes, but also from how I just never really could bring myself to actively dislike an episode. Sure there's been plenty of episode where I've been just sort of "Meh" with or just didn't have much feeling for, but there's rarely ever been one that I actively hate going in or coming out of it. I think the way they handled this episode was great, and I know a lot of folks were very annoyed seeing Goku in that afterlife space and seeing it as sort moment to rub it in folks face, but I think it was more meant to show that while he lost, he's still there and still happy. He's not gone or obliterated like other combatants in almost every other episode, he's still around and kicking, and you're more than free to keep loving and enjoying Goku. The episode isn't meant to be some "Haha Superman is better!", but more of just a fun time for both parties while going over what would most likely happen.

I was frustrated by the fact that we were doing this match up for a 3rd time, but I really like your outlook on this one, having it be more of a celebration of Death Battle’s legacy. It’s a lot more sweet under that lens.

I think the world of cardboard moment was either a 4th wall break from Superman realizing it wasn't real or him realizing that Goku had a point about the dragonballs fixing it all.

I was disinterested to this, especially because ffs I'm a latinamerican Goku fan and even I can recognize Supes is in a league of his own. It's not fun to see an obvious result for the third time. But the fucking animation, and it was SO FUCKING COOL

I’ll say this according to Ben’s statement and even the writing if you catch the references in the video it’s supposed to remake of the original two videos. Using a lot more calculations, sources, and making it more about there ideologies rather then one being more infinite then one another even though techie that’s kinda true at least when gaining power and stamina. Goku Needing to push his body and eat Sensu beans to heal and get stronger which is possible but limited, while Superman just need solar energy to grow and regain strength. I don’t think Goku will ever beat Superman too much history and of course bigger then life world, but if this is there last fight then… It’s a great one to end on Live your videos BTW

I liked the episode, but I sure hope that we are done with the match up now so we can have them in different Matchups

A wrestling term I like to use is "spots". I feel it's what the flying brick shit house fights can sometimes lack. The big moments or those cool scenes that transition in and out constantly like a roller coaster. In this case multiple abilities clashing that isn't just hit really good. I didn't even notice Superman phased through an attack cause it just happened too fast for me to see.

As someone who hasn't read more than a few random panels of Berserk and who didn't even know dimitri was a character in Fire Emblem, I just don't see how Guts vs Dimitri blows. I also don't see how it impacts more the perception of Berserk and Guts when compared to other battles both in terms of characterization or the fanbases (fandoms) being insufferable. Outisde of that I can say that I rank this as one of your best reviews and videos in general. I like some discussions you bring up, I love to learn about the references that you saw going frame by frame etc. I can't say that I am your biggest supporter, who watches all your different videos, but I really liked your videos on King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. I also am watching your rwby abridged a little at a time. I don't believe I will be watching your FATE videos in long while, because I haven't seen the series yet and I want to avoid spoilers. I hope this helps a little with the feeling confined to a bubble and understanding a small part of your fans who might be in situation similar to mine. I know you expressed your feelings in regard to the next match up and your apathy? in regards to it. I pray to God to strengthen your mental health and spark your interest in this next battle. My thoughts on the episode are that I hate that it exists, but love it as an episode and think it was done about as well as it could've been. I was so annoyed seeing this same matchup back for the 3rd time. But I can't deny the raw quality of the episode; Both characters got a pretty great analysis, the fight had good energy and pacing (things I think the both the previous episodes of this mu lacked to some extent) while still having some stand out moments. I also think the conclusion is probably the best we've ever seen. They cover all their bases in pretty thorough detail. They talk about the matchup in a sort of way they never do before adding a whole new angle to the discussion, really giving a lot of respect to not just both of the characters, but vs. debating as a whole. Honestly, how good this episode is sorta makes me wish it was the only Goku vs. Superman episode. Not because I dislike the other 2, but because the context of them sour the experience of this one, if you ask me.

i've seen people saying that the reason superman stops holding back is that he's reminded about the dragonballs by goku, and that's probably right, however i interpreted it that since the "world made of cardboard" line isn't just from a speech about having to hold back, but a speech about the catharsis of an opportunity to stop holding back, that it was superman accepting that goku can handle his full strength (at least to an extent) because to be fair, it was technically goku who blew up the moon, he's living in a world made of cardboard too.

This fight was everything I ever wanted. It had me so hyped I started.making videos about it 😅

I thought the flashes of others was Superman’s attacks literally hitting the others of their attacks. Like the Brainiac hit. Or a hint at the future (I saw Super Batman in there, and like they said, forever argument, and like Beyond vs 2099, different versions). I absolutely do come for you. I listen to you and Biff precisely because like this episode, it’s two sides of the same coin. One is more focused on the fun spectacle and one is more focused on the analytical.

I agree with you about opinions, While I stopped watching Death Battle a long time ago, the few times I watch out of curiosity. I've enjoyed it. Also, while I'm happy that they acknowledged Goku could beat most iterations of Supes. The only minor pet peeve is that whoever did the research didn't realize the giant avatar is a Yardratian's thing.

The only thing I gained from this entire review.... ....is the hilarious way you said "B-FF WEEED!"

regarding the 1st part of this review, as someone who prefers goku to superman i personally loved the ending and didnt care for the outcome as they gave both characters the respect they deserved, they even redid their cosmology for dragon ball which is really cool and i didn't expect that. Portraying goku and superman as good friends who love fighting each other is great, and they even try saying goku would win against any other superman. I wouldve preffered any other match-up for goku or superman but during the entire waiting period and while watching it for the first time i was ecstatic to see them cover goku's story better than they did the previous times.

Honestly I love this season overall, to me there isn’t a bad episode. There are some that didn’t click with me like Killua vs Misaka and Vader vs Obito but even those aren’t bad episodes to me, they’re solid 6/10s in my books and this season has the most 10/10s for me out of all seasons. Like to a point where the 10/10s might actually be the biggest category on my tier list although I’d have to double check, this episode is a 9/10 but that’s still a great score and I wasn’t disappointed. I was bored when the announced it and dreaded the fanbase during the waiting period but I came out love the episode, it feels like a good way to end the Goku vs Superman rivalry on Death Battle.

13:42 This could be referencing that time in Z where Goku was wearing Saiyan styled armor created by Bulma during the events of the Cell Saga where Gohan also chose to wear the same armor as the father and son trained in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber/Room of Spirit and Time. 13:52 This could be referencing SDBH Goku when he trained under the Grand Priest to allow him to tap into UI easier and deal with Hearts and his crew who were taking power from each universes strongest fighters to become powerful enough to overthrow Zeno and any other gods. Which they did gain all that power, Hearts absorbed it and no one (including Goku, Vegeta, Hit and Jiren) expect Blue Gogeta could challenge God Slayer Hearts and they're both never say that they're not on or above Zeno's level in the Anime (it's implied that they're both comparable to Zeno, but Gogeta doesn't want to overthrow Zeno because he thinks that he along with all mortals are already free while Hearts wants to free all mortals to be from Zeno's or any other gods rule), the Manga however has Gogeta mocking that Hearts for thinking he's even a threat to Zeno if he can't even defeat the fused warrior (yeah, SDBH is crazy, I just felt like giving a justifiable reason for why the Grand Priest would even train Goku to begin with).

Tbh, my only problem with the first rematch was how disrespectful DB was to Goku in the animation. Like we understood Goku would lose, we knew superman would win. But my problem with Superman winning the second round was how underwhelming the fight was. The second fight was just "Watch Superman dunk Goku down bb." This third fight was literally PERFECT. It gave respect to Goku, it didn't make him seem too irresponsible, not as much of a dumbass too. Superman, logically, was friendly with Goku, and even began to love the fight because he knew Goku wasn't someone who was inherently evil, and could keep up with Superman for the most part. It didn't feel like Goku was being babysat by Superman, or that Superman was tired of Goku like the second fight. Both of them were fighting, because that was how they got along. It played to both their strengths, Goku's being that he loves to fight, and Superman just being unbelievably nice of a guy. This fight was fun for the sake of being fun, and I loved it.

As much as i wish it was Goku vs Sonic or Superman vs Optimus Prime, this is still an amazing episode. Goku's Kamehameha in the end is my favorite final attack performed by the loser of any Death Battle. As much as you know he isn't gonna win, it looks so insane you feel like he might just clutch it.

While I hope this is the last time they do Superman vs Goku but yeah this fight was fun

The only takeaway from this entire episode is that Deathbattle is using higher speed metas. That alone makes it better than the previous 2 Superman vs Goku episodes and the best episode of the series scaling wise.

The highlight of season 10. Even though the outcome was predictable (since it's the third time it happened💀), it felt like the ending and characters were improved upon so well.

I knew Superman was going to win, but I'm still glad they gave the characters one final hurrah and did them justice. Still wish Goku would win in a death battle though, maybe in the future they put him up against someone else now that this one was made

This battle was amazing! I love how there is no animosity between them and both are having a blast. Goku having an opponent that's basically invincible and Superman not having to worry about holding back both because Goku can take it and because the Dragonballs can fix just about anything.

I was not very happy when I heard that they were making another version of this fight. Especially after how the second one still to this day feels very rushed and not well put together. I was very surprised by just how much effort was put into making this fight stand on its own. I would say just as a animation to show how far death battle has come, this was absolutely worth it

I think I prefer the more friendly spar and character driven nature of this fight over the original, but the original will always have a special place in my heart. I think the reason Superman went all out after "a world made out of cardboard" is that with the dragon balls it gave Superman a chance to go all out in the fight without consequences. Overall I would still put Scooby vs Courage as my personal favorite of the season, but I think this fight might have knocked Bill vs Discord to 3rd.

I do love the stuff you make, for example, the anime girl battle Royal is still one of my favorite videos ever, despite being a yang fan lol

If this ever gets a Part 4 I hope the DB Team can comission a Superman asset that's in the same art style as ArcSys because my only critique about the fight is how expressive Goku's facial animation is vs Clark's. Granted they can only do so much with Fortnite Superman but still they almost had a perfect Superman with this.

I loved this fight, and I was looking forward to seeing your perspective on it. I think they did a great job of setting everything up, GvS2 has been firmly unseated as anything but the mistake it was, and I enjoyed it from start to finish, finally giving both characters the respect they're owed and animating it fucking gloriously. I did miss Masako and It'sJustSomeRandomGuy a bit, but the performances from Michael and Xander were absolutely amazing nonetheless. Also now I want to see you go off a little about Screamer/Dash, I always felt that fight was really dodgy, but I'm not really great at scaling or analysing other people's scaling, so I figure you can probably articulate that feeling better. Anyway, roll on Galactus/Unicron! Two Transformers Ls in one season is gonna be rough, but it should at least be fun.

@@jackstar7204 The thing that sticks out to me is that they gave Starscream the capabilities of a real-life F-15, instead of the space-capable alien vehicle that _looks like_ an F-15 that he actually is. And then they still undersold the F-15! The F-15 is one of the best aircraft ever made. It was designed to beat a next-generation super-fighter that didn't exist (the Soviets were less than clear about what the Foxbat could actually do), it's one of the most sophisticated weapons on the planet, and it's actually fully capable flying without wings because the engine's so damn good. It's also worth noting that Starscream's official weight _is_ the same as the F-15's, but that's significant because Thundercracker and Skywarp are both _half_ that. And that's not them using the measures for one of the trio's other common altmodes, like the F-22, because the Raptor is almost as heavy as the Eagle. So a normal Seeker weighs much less than an F-15 (because they're made of fictional future space metals and their internals are completely different), and Starscream weighs twice the average Seeker's mass, despite being slightly shorter. Ergo, he probably has much denser armour (fitting, given all the physical abuse he takes).

I was thinking for so long what the theme of BMG you using on the 1st half of the review is why is sound so familar and only when you not use it anymore i realize what is it. and you know what is the worst part is ? I have that very song in save in my laptop.

I personally think this is the best damage patrol they have ever done considering I dont find that statement of who would want goku to lose to be bias because it was clearly just trying to reason with the mentality of the first two episofes to a certain extent.

Honestly I was mixed finding out that Goku and Superman were going for round 3, but after watching the fight, I’m glad it happened. I do hope it’s the last time they fight tho, bc the way this episode ended felt like a satisfying conclusion

The one you couldn't tell was Goku and Superman at the Blips and Chitz from Rick and Morty- you know, where Rick and The Doctor went midway through their fight?
