I share your sentiments exactly with Balrog vs TJ, I never realised just how much my like of TJ as a character stemmed from his phenomenal episode that eclipses everything else in season 4 by an absurd degree. And considering literally the next episode after it is another one of my all time favourites, and even that isn’t runner up in my ranking of season 4, that’s all the more impressive

Balrog vs tj combo is so awsome

Johnny Cage vs. Captain Falcon is easily one of the most underrated episodes they've ever done. Come to think of it, Season 6 as a whole is just full of underrated episodes. Also, I love how Guts vs. Nightmare is guilty of just about everything Death Battle's critics commonly accuse it of (Purposefully ignoring a character's strengths/feats to justify their loss, being biased towards one side, not explaining the result well at all, etc.), yet nobody gives a shit because Nightmare is nowhere near as popular as Guts.

Season 6 so far is my favorite season of the show, it has the most consistent amount of good episodes out of all the seasons, but if season 8 can put out more battles like Goku Black vs Reverse Flash and Alucard vs Dio it may surpass it.

Well, I don't know anything about Nightmare but, yeah it seems pretty damn bad. I've never ever wanted to rewatch Guts vs Nightmare. Well I don't know anything about Guts either but still.

TJ Combo vs. Balrog will always hold a special place in my heart because I expected a filler episode with a matchup nobody was really clamoring for and ended up watching one of the best episodes Death Battle has ever produced. Goro vs. Machamp is kind of its spiritual successor in that regard.

Seeing Balrog VS TJ praise as a boxer makes me happy beyond any existing human measuring systems.

Falcon vs Cage hits a lot harder after watching the F-Zero anime and seeing all the references they snuck in. Not everyone is gonna know that Cage punching the Blue Falcon windshield is a reference to Blood Falcon punching the Dragon Bird but they did it

My only issue with the analysis of Ryu vs. Scropion is them saying that Ryu can't kill Scropion with anything except the Raging Demon. Scropion's undead but he's not a ghost or immortal, he can still die by normal means.

Not that this matters because it came out LONG after the episode, but Shao Kahn, Sindel, and Shang Tsung manage to easily kill the revenants of Jade, Kitana, and Kung Lao, which shows that revenants(which Scorpion was at the time) are in fact perfectly killable

So am I the only one who’s insanely distracted by the rigging on Nightmare? In order to have him look up, they vertically flip his head and tilt that up. I have to be cursed with this knowledge, now you do too

I find it funny how both Dio vs Alucard and Johnny Cage vs Captain Falcon had Dio and Johnny wind up one arm for a big hit, but end up using the other arm just to hit their opponents

Who doesn't love the line "I AIN'T DONE!!"?

I thought you would only do the Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat episodes, but hearing you tackle everything was a real treat, especially since a lot of these episodes warrant discussion in some way or another. Good going. Fighting game episodes have been a bit hit or miss, but ending on those last two was a great choice. Cage vs Cap is just a lot of fun, and Balrog vs TJ Combo is one of the best written episodes I've seen outside of season 2, and just looks and feels incredible. And what you said about leaving as a bit of a TJ fan is pretty awesome too. I feel like a lot of folks felt the same with Alucard. I certainly did when I was trying to learn about him. There's something special about an episode that can do that.

TJ combo vs balrog looks pretty jank but man that comeback carries the whole fight and blows any nitpick you can have with the fight, especially when the track kicks in that just marks one of the rawest death battle moments

Honestly these old episodes make me want several characters with updated analysis. Because several of them need it

Honestly, imagine if DB used a fighting game or anime as much as they use Marvel/DC. We could easily get most if not all interesting characters of the franchise of your choosing on.

I'm fucking glad that I'm not the only one who feels the same way about how they basically failed their blazblue research and refused to give it any chance for Ragna. I feel like aside that, and presentation issues aside, it was an interesting battle, but it feels like if they actually _gave a shit_ about their research, we'd have had something more spectacular.

26:06 another thing I like about the analysis, and I don't know if it's intentional or not but, the ending of each analysis makes it almost feel like these where tv adds leading to this climatic boxing match for the heavy weight champ mainly coming down to chads delivery their but it kinda just adds even more to this already damn near perfect episode for me

i heavily agree with you on Tj vs Balrog that death battle is in my top 3 favourite death battles of all time. the Analysis was so much awesome and i loved how they went into the backstory of the characters showing how much of a greedy little bugger Balrog is and the determination of TJ while giving us a full proper run down on them which is something Death RARELY ever do to this extent. the battle itself was absolutely badass and shows the true forms of boxing in the first half then kicking it into a real battle after Balrog fists the ref. Seeing them use their moveset in full force was epic and what i most love is how well they did TJ using his ima say blue boost cause i forget the proper name to utterly destroy Balrog with no effort. it was a fun battle that definitely deserved its 10/10 rating

Haven't finished the video yet, though enjoying it. Just wanted to type this now since I just got through it. Even though I am not too interested in Killer Instinct and while I like Street Fighter, don't care about Barlrog, T-J Combo vs Barlrog is one of my favorite episodes and that is a huge sign of qualities for it. Two characters I don't give a shit about and the episode made me give a shit about them. I am not an athletic or sports person and it made me actually appreciate the sport of boxing to the point I'd actually be willing to learn it if getting the chance. The video you referenced also made me do that..and I find it funny you watched that too, I find it funny we seem to watch similar things, we both watched that video and you often show signs of watching 'The4thSnake' if you haven't already just said you do. It did so much well and it makes me excited for when they finally have Little Mac, a boxing character I actually have a personal connection to. If they put the same level of love in it that they do here, that will be an absolutely amazing episode. I think the best episodes are ones where you walk away not only remembering the fight, but it made you want to experience the games/movies/shows/comics etc the characters came from as well as appreciate some aspects of them. Carolina vs Meta kind of did that as it made me realize Red vs Blue is cooler than I expected though I didn't get the interest to watch it and the Red vs Blue Death Battle didn't do either personally for me, I just watched it when I was personally interested, not because of Death Battle which seems like a flaw. Even though I like Lucy vs Carnage, I think the only reason I liked Lucy's analysis is because I have an emotional attachment to the character and series, an anime I watched as a kid and a character I liked as a kid (had a crush on as a kid, I am weird..). If I was ignorant to Elfen Lied, that analysis would turn me away to it, especially with the outro just making it seem like all there was to her was murdering people. Barlrog vs T-J Combo does everything right, it made me find Barlrog cooler, made me like T-J Combo, made me more interested in Killer Instinct and even the fucking sport they take part in. It deserves a 10/10 because it literally did everything right, you can only nitpick it. The only other fight I can talk about so far into the video is Guts vs Nightmare where I wasn't a fan either. My major gripe was the fight where even though Guts is often hunted by demons for his soul and Nightmare hunts down souls to eat...it has Nightmare doing fuck all and Guts just shows up. What's worse is even though Nightmare is a horrible, demonic, soul devouring monster, he felt like the under dog. Like...he felt like he was scared of Guts like Guts was a slasher villain and he was his next victim. The fact that Guts, a human who as far as I am aware, gets pretty fucked up in his fights, is no selling and dominating a godlike demonic threat to the point where that threat seems like an unfortunate victim instead of a...THREAT is well, stupid. It clearly does have a bias to it, I think back to what you said about Carnage in Carnage vs Lucy and that's basically it for Nightmare. "Fuck Nightmare, we hate Nightmare, he will barely get any good hits and then get bodied!", that's really not a good thing to do in your vs battles. And its funny, for their first Superman vs Goku fight, despite hating Superman and loving Goku, meaning they probably had MORE love for one character and MORE hate for the other, they portrayed them both with respect. Maybe its just because it was such a big fight but I am so confused at how that works where they show more love for a character they hate than one I assume they're neutral on.

Really happy Balrog VS TJ Combo got a 10, really good episode. Not much else to say really.

I think my favorite part of Balrog vs TJ Combo is the incorporation of real boxing techniques. It's so much more satisfying to see fighting styles broken down and having the strengths and weaknesses of their techniques explained than just saying "this character is more skilled"

Fighting games are my all time favourite genre and anytime Death Battle does a match up featuring 2 fighting game characters, I always get excited. I mean it is no coincidence that Balrog vs TJ Combo and Captain Falcon vs Johnny Cage are 2 of my all time favourite episodes! At the same time though, I kinda wish they would spice up the variety of fighting games they would use, I doubt I would be the only one who would pop hard if we got a Primal Rage combatant in Death Battle!

TJ vs Balrog is awesome, I don't even know much about the characters and it was still a great match up.

I just don’t get why for Guts vs Nightmare, they didn’t bring up the reason that Guts couldn’t be corrupted by anyone demonic. His soul is claimed by Griffith. The brand on his neck shows Griffith’s ownership of Guts’ soul, and makes it so Inferno, who has to claim your body and soul to create a new Nightmare couldn’t do that with Guts. Add to that that demons and ghosts can’t possess him due to this same factor, and that he survived hits from Zodd, whose battle with Guts collapsed the cave near Godot’s home, a feat on par with the destruction of a single tower on a castle (0.1 tons of TNT) and calculations based on Hysterical Strength (how the Berserker Armor allows guts to do his full strength thing, which is a roughly 100-1000x increase to strength on real people at a similar cost) and the debate could have easily been solved.

My Top 5 Fighting Game Death Battle Ryu vs. Jin Balrog vs. TJ Combo Jon Talbain vs. Sabrewulf Ryu vs. Scorpion Shao Kahn vs. Bison I didn't agree with the outcome of 2 of the battles but they were still good battles.

The only thing I'd change about the TJ Combo vs Balrog battle would be to have Ed to be with Balrog in the intro

Honestly you just need to think deep on the astral plain thing, but that whole influencing guts to wield him does make a bit of sense... But then we'd probably get "soul edge wins" which would technically mean it's a tie like with eggman and wily

Only for them to then pull out in the end with TJ Combo vs Balrog and Johnny Cage vs Captain Falcon being super great.

Pikachu should've beaten blanka. Pikachu is fast enough to dodge moves like solar beam making him FTL at least. Can dish out Island level attacks. On top of that he's won against legendary Pokemon.

When was Rhonda Rousey in Death Battle?

So usually I'll say my opinions on each episode before watching but I don't wanna do that so I'm just gonna say I fucking pop OFF every time I see a 10/10 in one of these episodes and I completely agree that Balrog vs TJ is one of the few episodes I 100% agree deserves that coveted number. Also I first watched it while grounded and my mom just wasn't home so fun memory tied to the episode I guess maybe whatever.

How to know if nemesis will give an episode an 8 or higher, or a two or lower, he talks about the fight for 5 minutes or more. Can’t blame him though.

I am a certified Berserk fanboy (well, not to the extreme levels, I do have some level of self-awareness), and one of the reasons why I don't want Guts in another researched animated fight is because I know a lot of his most requested opponents defeat him... and seeing Guts die hurts my soul. So, yes, Guts vs Nightmare is not a good episode, but at least Guts won! Somehow. I'll let it slide. Also, TJ Combo vs Balrog is an example of why I love Torrian and I wish he was still on the crew, but I am glad he has moved on to bigger and better things.

Cage vs Falcon is a 9/10 for me, and I give it that extra point because I think Captain Falcon is absolutely based and has always been my favorite in smash. Plus the episode overall was just pure fun
