The reason original Virgil was so raspy was because Johnny Yong Bosch had a cold during his recordings in Devil May Cry 3. Unless he purposely infects himself with a cold again he can never replicate Virgil's original voice from 3 he has admitted multiple times that this is something that he wished he could do without getting sick again because Virgil's voice in the original Devil May Cry 3 was so iconic

They probably added Deadpool to thanos vs dark side because of that oh “dead pool stole thanos’s girl and he is still mad about it” meme

This probably won't make you feel better but I just want you to imagine thanos death from his perspective the death is like if you were to survive being thrown into the sun, hit by a a crashing plane, getting 7 different kinds of cancer, and getting stabbed in the heart. Then a week later falling down a flight of stairs and breaking you're neck then you die. If you ask me that is the most embarrassing way to die and for thanos just to be killed by a SINGLE gun shot it would be his version of that.

Just imagine how sick it would've been if instead of just sending him to death, darkseid crushes the gauntlet to show thanos he has no hope. Thanos still trying to fight back desperately is sent through a boom tube and carried into apokolips, being ripped to shreds by his minions. In the final shot we see darkseid turning marvel into a knightmare type scenario, causing more death and doing what thanos could never do

I think for Thanos being killed with ease by a character like Deadpool would be degrading and humiliating. I’d imagine it would feel pretty depressing to go from god like power to being a weak punching bag for the universe to torture.

I agree with the list and the reasons why you put matches everywhere, especially seeing Shadow Side vs Thanus at the bottom. That... does put a smile on my face.

All Might not getting his last punch was, to me, a representation of the idea that All Might was too slow to avoid or counter 8th Gate Guy, as they said in their post-analysis. Not saying it makes the death better, but I think that's what they were going for.

To be fair, the gauntlet shouldn’t effect Darkseid at all since it is canonical it effects only the marvel universe. During one of the crossover comics Darkseid ended up with it but threw it away because it did nothing when he used it.

That wouldn't make any sense, for the sake of a fight, verse equalization is put in, using that as an excuse in a series that pits people from different fictional verses together wouldn't be right, bad enough given that they nerfed the infinity gauntlet's potential enough in the analysis.

Remember people, when you put a crossover fight you're putting them on a nexus meaning all abilities work.

"Just because the MCU emphasizes the snap, he only does the snap" This right here is a problem I have with some Death Battles, where as you say for the snap, because a certain thing was emphasized or because its well known, they do it in the fight even though it doesn't make sense for the Death Battle itself. For Thanos, the two moments I can think of where he snaps to erase something, makes sense for him to snap. For the comic, he is trying to earn the affection of Mistress Death and he finally realizes how to do it, he's not fighting anyone, he's just alone with Death so he just casually holds his hand up, snaps and erases half of the universe. In the movie, he was just fatally wounded by Thor, barely able to do anything so he weakly holds up his hand and snaps to do what he wanted to do as at that point he couldn't do anything else as he had a big ax in his chest. For an open fight however, he would literally do anything besides snapping. For the first Darksied Avatar he'd probably snap it away but afterwards he'd do more trying to permanently get rid of Darksied but because the snap is so iconic, he ONLY DOES that. Its just so uncreative and annoying to me. I can think of three other moments where they do this and they also bug me. Lobo crushing an entire city into a small ball, Miles' shoulder touch and Kakashi's 'Thousand Years of Pain'. For the Lobo one, that just seemed like a random thing he did because he was just so damn pissed that he just did the most bat shit crazy thing he could to kill the thing he was trying to kill but with how its used on the Death Battle, you'd think he just does it whenever he fights someone. Like, he'd be fighting Superman and just decides "Imma crush Metropolis into a tiny ball for shits and giggles". For the shoulder touch, in the movie, the reason it was such an iconic moment was because this was something Miles' uncle taught him, and then his uncle is murdered by Kingpin. Miles using it on Kingpin is essentially him using the last thing his uncle taught him, the last happy memory he had before everything went down, against his killer, taking him out with what his uncle taught him, avenging him. I do not see Miles just 'shoulder touching' every person he fights. Yes, that was a cool moment from the movie...and there was a reason it worked in the movie but doesn't work just happening in any fight. Finally with Kakashi poking Obi-Wan in the ass, I haven't watched every episode of Naruto, but as far as I am aware, he only did that once to Naruto to mess with him. He was toying with Naruto so that's why he did it and in the rematch in Shippuden, Naruto got revenge by doing it to him. This move was exclusive to these two moments where Kakashi was toying with Naruto and then gets payback years later. The fact that the Death Battle has him do it to Obi-Wan just makes it seem like he always tries to finger his opponents, like he could be fighting the biggest threat to his entire universe, all of creation hangs in the balance...and he'd try fingering them. No, he wouldn't, that move was done at very specific points, its not something he'd just do to anyone. I get that it was a funny moment but it was funny because of the specific situation it was in, just making him do it to everyone is just lazily milking the joke. Its basically like "Haha, we made Kakashi do teh funny thing", real creative there..are you incapable of adding your own iconic moments to the fights, you just have to reuse classic moments? Just bugs the hell out of me and just feels like a cheap way to get people excited, show them what would be familiar to them instead of actually trying to do something new and creative. The only other thing I can say about this video (did enjoy it by the way) is that on the topic of Thanos vs Darksied...for any big DC fans, please correct me on this but...I don't think Darksied can just make another avatar of himself and place it back into the universe. I remember watching Linkara review Final Crisis and what I got from that story is that for Darksied to return to the main DC universe, he had to possess a new host and turn them into a new Darksied, he couldn't just go back whenever he wants. They went through so much effort creating the perfect host for Darksied to possess and come back and if he could just do it instantly...why bother? So that is definitely one MAJOR flaw I have with this Death Battle, a Darksied Avatar shouldn't just be able to come back, in the comics he was killed and he apparently could only come back if he had a suitable host to possess so he could only resume the fight (as an Avatar) via outside help creating a new body for him. Thanos would have to fight his true form the second he destroyed one Avatar because to my knowledge, Darksied can't just come back like that. I could be wrong, I am basing this off of limited knowledge but that limited knowledge contradicts what the Death Battle showed which is why it bothers me so much.

I would also like to note for Vergil vs Sephiroth that Vergil's Universal scaling wasn't a thing as a time, as he was a little bit busy being dead until DMC5 to scale to the same feats Dante did in DMC2 onwards.

Vergil at that time was barely city level. Way weaker than beings like Mundus, Argosax and the Beastheads. You can argue that he *could* be small star level due to Beowulf's power said to be equal to a small supernova in the devil arms description, but dunno if that can be taken into literal context

Personally I would rank them as such: 1. All Might vs Might Guy 2. Goku vs Superman 3. Hulk vs Broly 4. Thanos vs Darkseid 5. Deadpool vs Pinkie Pie 6. Sephiroth vs Vergil 7. Pokemon vs Digimon Edit: If Voltron vs Megazord were the season finale as intended, it wold be above Hulk vs Broly.

I knew Thanos of Darkseid was, but I forgot about the others being specifically finales.

Goku vs Superman is in my top ten death battles as well. Not just in terms of finales, but overall as just like you said, it was an event. It felt like you were going into a once in a lifetime concert to see the greatest artists perform live together after decades of fans wanting it. I really don’t care for how they got the cals wrong, as I hate power scaling and stuff with a passion since it’s incredibly bias. But they used the feats as depicted and did their best to be as impartial to both characters as a whole. Despite the backlash it garnered, this episode is what put Death Battle on the map. It was the first finale, the first biggest match up, the first collaborative effort with multiple sources and people involved to make it. It stands as a shining example of how to not only set up something people will remember forever, but also leave a legacy for all other death battles to reach and surpass. Some do. Some don’t. It really doesn’t matter about your preference. What does matte is its significance to pop culture and the internet at large. Which is why I still go back to watch this fight every year. If the remastered this fight, dude... I swear it’ll be better than most other top tier death battles combined.

Yeah dude to me Goku vs Superman 1 is Death Battle at it's peak in quality where their calculations weren't badly incorrect but they slowly got worse after that please Goku fan boys stop kidding yourselves there is no chance in heck Goku could beat Superman as they said Goku has limits Superman has none to speak of he is one of the most powerful characters in fiction for a reason Goku is all about overcoming his limits and become the best he can be Superman is basically a powerful alien living amongst humans who tries to never break his morals never becoming stronger cause he already is as strong as he needs to be. Goku vs Superman is a Death Battle that does these two popular characters justice and brings some perfect voice acting animation decent analysis halirious dialogue outstanding soundtrack and the fight scene. It's up there with the Batman vs Spider-Man Iron Man vs Lex Luthor Sam Fisher vs Solid Snake Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Battle Royale Flash vs Quicksilver and Hulk vs Doomsday all of these are great episodes where each character gets respect except Michelangelo who gets haliriously roasted by Wiz and Boomstick. Also Bat fan boys really need to stop thinking Bats can win understand what I mean when I say this Spider-Man is designed for opponents like Batman his powers and skill set can counter everything Batman throws at him sure Bats can throw Spidey's weakness Eythical Pesticide Clyoride but Spidey has built up some tolerance towards this weakness so it's not an instant win move Iron Man has every suit of armor for any situation giving him superior versatility then Lex Leonardo best all his brothers cause he's a master strategist he's know his brother's strengths and weaknesses Flash is far faster then Quicksilver and Doomsday has taken so many death blows that Hulk just smashing Doomsday till he dies won't ever work. Over all the Death Battle of the past is miles better then modern Death Battle R.I.P. a versus channel that could've been the best of them all but fell from grace too soon.

@@blyat8832 the problem is goku can beat superman most versions Honselty but death battle seems to fuse all most every version of a comic book character when it comes to feats and weakness and since these characters are written by different people you can have one superman being able to clap entire univeres out of existence and another who is only star level This goes back to what i said they fuse both version just to make the comic characters who are fighting have an edge in battle or equal footing Another example of this is thor vs wonder woman WW has equal to more power feats then thor but thor has more durability while WW is known to be weak in the def department compare to top tiers in dc. Yet she is taking just as much an ass whooping as thor despite being defensively weaker thor should either outlast her or beat her because of that they even said he was faster so blitzing her isn't a problem yet they fused the WW with high durbillty feats(literally the broken versions of her) with the ones without them thats just unfair bullshit why not fuse thors version where his power is higher like king thor

I actually want to see how Season 8’s finale will compare (It’s totally gonna be Galactus vs Unicron) Edit: That last part did not age at all, but season 8's finale compared FANTASTICALLY to it.

Thanos stands there, catches his breath. Thanos: I won. As I always do. *deadpool suddenly appears* Deadpool: yeah not really *deadpool headshots Thanos* *Thanos falls to the ground, dead* The screen suddenly flashes white and Thanos is standing there, alive Thanos: wait, what just happened? *suddenly the Avengers are behind Thanos* Tony stark: There he is! GET HIM! *a short montage of Thanos dieing repeatedly* Thanos: What's happening!? WHATS GOING ON?!? *the Camera zooms out to show Darkseid, sitting on thanos' throne, crushing the gauntlet and watching Thanosin the Omega Sanction* Darkseid: Behold, an endless death.

My favorite thing about Goku vs Superman is the salt it generates.

Honestly, I would be highly amused if they tried to say, "Hey, remember when we did Goku vs. Superman and how we formatted it into an absolutely incredible movie-like episode? Let's do that again!" Plus, I'd already be down for a longass episode as long as everything is taken in and not like, "Okay, you have 1 hour to make your case about your character. Go." like how they said they basically do it in their "research segment of the episode making thing".

@@pesciisthebestcharacter5100 Honestly, I still think to this day that Ben vs Hal should've been a season finale, then it could've goten better treatment fight-wise besides the bare minimum. Both characters being pittedd against eachother should make for one of the most back-and-forth, insane, and creative battles in the show's history, and instead we got six aliens(only four of which actually fought), with the first three appearing VERY briefly, and Hal only used like two interesting constructs the whole fight. It's far from bad of course(Emerald Heroes, Alien X was pretty good in it for the most part, Hal saying the oath), it just feels like they did almost the bare minimum as I said. Also I did'nt like how they characterized Ben as he came off alot like a spoiled brat in that episode.

I agree with you. If your idea was there for number 3, then it would have been perfection, becoming on par with Superman VS Goku Round 1. Speaking of which, the fight was absolutely amazing. It really feels like they go all out. The animation, the presentation, the choreography, the voice acting, the music and the analysis was really well done.

Darkseid's first omega beam was used to destroy the glass and debris that was headed his way. Yeah, he didn't need to and it was dumb that he had to use energy to block glass, but eh

Goku vs Superman may have some analysis but the fight and The way Goku and Sups interact its beautiful and awesome

Goku vs Superman was the single longest KZread video I had watched at the time it came out, and it was worth it. It was hype when it came out, and now that I’ve watched DBZ Abridged and started to watch MasakoX on KZread, I appreciate it even more now.

Ok but this is an underrated description. Just cntrl c cntrl v the definition of Opinion is so funny to me.

Coming from someone who really likes Thanos Vs. Darkseid, a lot of the points you brought up are really valid. I like it more as an episode than a season finale anyway, as other episodes in Season 5 are way more memorable. I still think Deadpool Vs. Pinkie Pie is a worse finale because it misinterprets Deadpool as a character and is really hard to sit through thanks to the unfunny jokes. And like you said, it really doesn't fit as a finale even if it wasn't meant to be. I really don't see why Hulk Vs. Doomsday didn't just take its place given the in-depth explanation and how good it is in general. I've also gotten a lot less fond of Red and Charizard Vs. Tai and Agumon (I refuse to call it Pokemon Vs. Digimon, that name makes no sense) after rewatching it recently. Charizard's analysis and the animation are good, but how they act like the fight was a stomp when the Agumon analysis has almost no feats really drags it down for me. It's not a bad episode for me, just mediocre in a season filled with excellent fights. Other than that though, I pretty much agree with the list. Goku Vs. Superman 1 will probably never be topped, and if so it'll almost surely be because of really special episodes like Wiz Vs. Boomstick.

Honestly I'm glad other people can love and tear this show apart at the same time ^_^

The music build up at the climax of goku vs superman is amazing. Like when goku absorbed the spirit bomb and shot the Kamehameha and superman burst right through it and they were at the earths core.

Are there Death Battle ideas you have that could work for finales, Nemesis

The snap momemt and Darkseids comment afterwards was great... but otherwise agreed. And yeah Deadpool vs Pinkie Pie was basically designed as a joke, and personally I kinda liked it. And not being actually serious helped it be.. not as bad.

Honestly I have to agree with you on the list especially number 1 and number 5. The way they wasted the Thanos vs. Darkseid one was just sad

This list is amazing, the only placement I would of change would be All Might vs Might Guy and Pokémon vs Digimon, even if All Might vs Might Guy is my favorite episode of the series

This is how many people got the reference at the end of Sephiroth vs vergil with the way Vergil was stabbed being a reference to cloud based sephiroth in their advent children fight

As a major Dragonball fan, I love Goku vs Superman 1, it's amazing even if some calcs are wrong and my preferred character lost

There are rumors that Voltron vs Megazord was supposed to be the Season 3 finale but was delayed due to the money required for the animation.

That was beautiful

i like all death battles though these reviews do give me insight from snother perspective. still not sure which is my favorite finale now. hopefully s8 will have an amazing death battle

The reason they do a “Nomad of Nowhere” reference is literally to make you look up what it was so that you then go check it out. They are cross promoting a fellow rooster teeth show to help it gain traction. The fact you went and looked it up just shows that what they did was effective lol

Great list honestly I’d put All Might vs Might Guy in number 1 but still amazing

I'm glad I wasn't the only one feeling a bit let down on Thanos vs Darkseid. I love Outter Versal entities but I really felt the fight lacking

Agreed, Pinky Vs Deadpool didn't have the expectations of Thanos Vs Darkseid. Noone expected PvD to be great.

One finale that would mean a lot to me would be palutena vs rosalina or shulk vs Tidus, hell I would LOVE Bill cipher vs dimentio. To be fair these are mostly shits stomps for the former in all cases but that didn’t stop death battle with all might vs might guy. For a Halloween battle sir Daniel vs spinal is the only way to go, they are doing vampire this season but maybe next.

I would’ve liked Goku vs superman 1 but the downplaying for both characters especially Goku is too much honestly I still can’t get over how they used "40 tons" as goku’s even though the original Dragon Ball we see kid Goku pushing a 200 ton boulder also goku speed I can’t believe that you sneak away even though we have dozens of FTL feat’s before that not to mention by their logic base Goku didn’t get any stronger after his fight against Vegeta because they just took that base goku and added the Super Saiyan multipliers which is factually wrong because we know Goku got hundreds of times stronger after his first fight against Vegeta in his base form look if we scaled both characters properly (gt goku because they were using super Saiyan 4) and post crisis superman it’s abundantly clear that Superman would easily dominate but I mostly blame that fight on death battle being new to vs battles in general and extremely mediocre scaling/research for both characters.

I have to say that you took the words right out of my mouth over the first goku vs super man death battle episode. The presentation is just so good that I don't care about how inaccurate the information was.

To be fair to your number 7 choice, that song is fucking great. The god portal's edges also reminds me of Cyphelon Simaris from Warframe

For those wanting an explanation, those two can survive the Supernova and handle Sephiroths strength to a degree... Yet they lost those battles when Sephiroth provides opposite reasoning for why they should’ve been able to win. Cloud solo killed Sephiroth in Advent Children but lost to Link when evidence suggests he’d be durable enough for the opposite.

​@@cameronharding6055Link vs cloud 1 was in season 1 cut them some slack and for yang vs tifa they confirmed that battle is outdated and they didn't know how to calc the supernova feat although I think there was some bias in that episode and I don't normally believe death battle is biased besides yang vs tifa and shadow vs Mewtwo

They had to take so many liberties to justify Mewtwo winning, such as forcing Mewtwo to match Super Shadow even though that very same move doesn’t work on Mega Evolutions which operates on a similar principle to the super forms. Also the whole ‘Mind Manipulation’ shit that makes no sense because Shadow had genetic connections to Black Doom that enabled Black Doom to manipulate him and also had his memories altered by the very person who CREATED him!

It’s my third favorite finale and in my top 20 favorites of all time

The video that completely destroyed the reputation of one of Death Battle's most popular episodes...

I arrived all ready to be angry about Goku vs. Superman being #1 just based on how egregiously incorrect the analysis of that battle is, but the way you explained and broke it down, I kind of have to respect your opinion. If only the fact checking team had the same thoroughness as everyone else did on that episode.
