I've rewatched the animation for Geese vs Heihachi like 7 times I still have absolutely no clue what Geese was saying as he was falling into the volcano before laughing himself out

I think it was "you cannot escape from death" or something like that, which is great because his plan was to escape from said death (the lava in the volcano) himself while dragging his opponent into it, and taking that into account there's like an unsaid "but I can" tacked on to what he just said.

Actually Heihachi has spoken English on a few occasions - Tekken the Motion Picture, where he’s voiced by John Oaul Shepard - His guest appearance in Soul Calibur 2, voiced by Kevin Michael Richardson (who also voiced Spawn in the same game so that’s neat) - Street Fighter x Tekken, where he’s voiced by Jamieson Price (who also voiced him in Tekken Blood Vengeance and even voiced Paul Phoenix in other Tekken games)

They are probably just independ ninjas lmao, but of course, the thing of the linkuei isn't that they are agile or whatever, is that they control ice. You could say that they aren't ninjas or traditional ninjas, they are more samurai than ninjas tho.

Same. I honestly don't understand the people who say Elon Musk and anything related to him is 'cringe'.

I feel like this is the Goro Vs Machamp of the season. Both are blood pumping all out brawls that are too hella underrated.

I’m going to try to give this a shot. At the end of the Heihachi-Geese fight when Geese is trying to get back up, I think he said “To Heaven, Escape from Death!” He definitely said that second part, but if he really did say the first part, then I think Heihachi’s response “Back to Hell with you” fits even better.

The death in the Ryu v Jin, along with the ending analysis still bothers me to this day.

Ryu’s beaten Jin (which I’m not complaining about), but Tekken has done something that Street Fighter has never done: BEAT KING OF FIGHTERS

@@bloody4558 EXACTLY. Don't forget that Tag IS NOT CANON. In the same Tag, Michelle and Julia easily beat Craig and King. Yoshimitsu kills Bryan, Jinpachi eradicates Heihachi. Jack CANNOT DO WHAT HE DID IN TAG, it is NOT CANON. Heck, Chaolan wipes out all the Mishimas with his bomb easily. NONE OF IT IS CANON. The nerve of them to scale Heihachi from something that isn't canon.

The moment i saw Heihaichi "Survived the raging demon....somehow" feat. I already knew who was gonna win

Death Battle should always be reviewed this way, this is how I evaluate an episode. The winner should be irrelevant to your opinion of the episode because that's just Death Battle for you.

Although I didn't particularly like that they took away Geese's character in favor of making him a joke with his battle lines, it was well handled and funny, and the rest of the fight itself has a lot to like. I loved how they actually had all of Heihachi's lines voiced in Japanese, and while the animation isn't among my favorite it's still up there for me. Unfortunately the death, while brutal and pretty creative, could use a few noticeable improvements, like how Heihachi got out of the volcano despite no indication of how he propelled himself back up (did he punch Geese so hard he did the equivalent of a Smash Bros footstool???) and Geese getting impaled could use more impact. The leadup to the (kinda?) killing blow was absolutely stellar and I just find it hilariously ironic how Geese uses his "You cannot escape from death!" line while actively trying to save himself (in an awesome way, might I add). Overall, nicely done. As a big Geese fan, this episode did not disappoint me. 7/10 Not looking forward much to the next episode whatsoever since I know nothing about AOT and while I like the character designs of RWBY, I just am not interested in it. I hope Blake wins. Oh, and could you look at the Discord link you put in your About section, please? I tried to use it but it was invalid. Edit: I now can't get this alternate version out of my head where Heihachi just does a Smash Bros footstool, sound effect and all, with Geese just falling into the spike.

Rewatching this review, and I’m surprised you didn’t point out that Chun-Li’s skeleton, in addition to not matching the art style, is also about a foot or two taller than the Chun sprite they used.

Glad to see this in my feed, avid animation fan and a huge fighting game stan. i reckon i'll leave my thoughts here Funny that despite all of these fights, mai vs chun li feels like it has the most closeness to the characters source material as they both use fighting game style combos and use a fair share of their moves right even if not in the style of either games original mechanics. though you can only expect so much from a ben singer animation, the potential and effort was superb but the quality just wasnt there unfortunately. terry vs ken looks like the animator only knew street fighter and nothing on KOF. Terry was OOC, his moves weren't used right throughout. his finisher was a special and not a super. Not a single iconic terry voice line. Jungle outpost 1 being used as the fight music in a SECOND death battle was a lame choice. there's literally 3 capcom/snk crossover games with great OSTs that could've been used among actual street fighter and fatal fury, king of fighters and various tracks. Comparing this to other VS shows with these characters shows how little the animator seems to care for cool fighting game moments and prefers an anime fight style approach. Ryu vs jin, again feels like despite torrian knew how tekken movesets worked since he used tekken animations in previous 3d fights (breakdancer deadpool using eddy's 10 hit combo and lars moves in wesker vs batman) Jin barely did anything from any actual tekken game despite him having 2 movesets. Ryu was doing lovely combos and game specific moves and mechanics from his games mid fight like parry heavy moments and Vskills and triggers whereas jin's moves seem to be mainly original with a bit of soul calibur and SFxT moves instead. I didn't like their usage of jin's SFxT voice since it makes him sound like someone trying to pull off a sasuke voice. Jin was pretty lackluster the entire fight and was even a bit OOC just to make ryu look cooler in most scenes and the underdog at the very end. The music felt right in the fact that killer instinct rapper omega sparxx doing an original track for 2 fighting game characters and making his own custom rap battle from both perspectives. IMO this felt like it'd be better off as a non researched fight since they were making them do more original choreography throughout. Geese vs heihachi..... this time they finally picked up some KOF/CVS/Fatal fury/Art of fighting games for geese accuracy, the references and move usage was perferct. He did everything a SNK fan wanted geese to do and even his scene of him falling into the volcano was a nice touch to his fatal fury ending (using that exact cinematic sprite of his iconic fall for extra effect) Sometimes i had to replay each scene just to make out wtf he was saying though.... since he never really said anything orignal i'd rather they just use his voice samples from existing games(preferrably tekken 7 since he does have mishima specific voice lines). The death was amazing....even though the random spike impalement out of nowhere was unnecessary(geese didn't even seem phased by it). Heihachi on the other hand aside from his nice written lines and personality being almost perfect (heihachi isn't the calm and patient type, he mocks and taunts his enemies during and after fights). The sprites (made by infamous rushing mugen sprite animator chuchoryu) limited heihachi's moveset potential immensely. he did LIke 2 MOVES FROM TEKKEN. AND THE REST ARE RECOLOURED EDITS OF RYO SAKAZAKI'S NORMALS FROM CVS. He even did street fighter parries... despite never doing parries AND being a tekken character. no tekken combos, no tekken iconic moves like his powerbomb, hellsweeps, eletric wind god fists, Rage art, ground punch etc. The scene where they tire out was a nice reference to the final battle of heihachi and kazuya tiring themselves out in tekken 7. Throwing him off the cliff was nice though imo him punching him straight back down as geese was trying to get back up with an orignal move felt very anti climatic and threw me off as i thought a major comeback would be written in. If anything, like jin's fight it seems that the animators just prefer to reference them from non tekken gameplay/fightstyles and rather focus on cutscenes and non tekken games which to me feels very annoying since their opponents dont get that treatment at all. The music and setting(nice ringmaster announcer cameo) was lovely. How the song starts off as a "Soy sauce for geese" cover before transitioning into an EDM original track similar to the TTT2-T7 style was a lovely choice and new since EDM is rare for Death battle. Personally would have liked more melody or a reference to one of heihachi's many themes but beggers can't be choosers. I'd rank them as Heihachi/Geese as the best one yet and terry vs ken being the worst

Here is my take: Chun-Li vs Mai Shiranui: 1/10. Ken Masters vs Terry Bogard: 7/10. Ryu vs Jin: 10/10. Heihachi vs Geese: 9/10.

1. Chun Li vs Mai Shiranui was originally my least favorite episode of S1. But after rewatching S1, Rogue vs WW is my least favorite. 2. Ken vs Terry was a much better SF vs KOF EP than Chun vs Mai and a better SF EP than Cammy vs Sonya IMHO. Yes it had some flaws but I would rather watch than than watch the latters ever again. 3. While I do agree that Ryu would defeat Jin with the power of nothingness, since Jin has nothing to counter that, the rest of the episode felt like a repeat of Android 18 vs Captain Marvel. But unlike 18 vs Carol, I'm not mad that Ryu won considering SF hadn't won an episode at the time since S1. 4. Heihachi vs Geese was a great episode, but my only complaints were the unfunny jokes in the research and Geese's VA. Aside from that, great episode.

I've been looking forward to this.

I was kind of expecting a joke about the pretzel input in Geese's analysis when I watched it, though I think it was still well done. Also I liked the joke in the conclusion since Soy sauce for Geese is my favorite KOF song

I'm glad u liked this fight. This is my Favorite Death BATTLE of theres. As a Massive Geese fan, I had a feeling right from the start that Geese would Lose. But man, My favorite Fighting game series TEKKEN. and my Favorite Fighting game character GEESE. this BATTLE was a Win for me.

V Shifts didnt exist during the Jin vs Ryu production they where introduced back in 2020 when season 5 dropped.

Thanks for mentioning the problem with Fight Like A Devil. I feel like people like it just because it’s lyrical. For me it suffers the same problems that Blood Moon has, it never picks up. Sabrewulf in particular is portrayed as am extremely brutal fighter, so it doesn’t feel like it fits him. To be fair it picks up for about 20 seconds and it definitely fits Jon better, and considering Evil Ryu and Devil Jin, it needs to pick up.

Something I noticed in geese vs heihachi is that after getting counterd heihachi breaks away with a kick from the ground. When Geese gets his second counter he predicts the get up attack.

Sub-Zero isn't actually a ninja. He's from a group of Chinese warrior assassins who can control ice. Ninja, as we all know, are Japanese and not Chinese.

I remember how I'd been wanting this fight to happen since season 1, and when they finally announced it, I was ecstatic. It was literally the number 1 fight I'd wanted to see for pretty much a whole decade.

He says that geese vs hehatchi is his favorite sprite fight of the episode but that all changes when madara vs aizen goku black vs reverse flash and alucard vs dio came out

Even though they’re also my favorite, At least Chun Li and Ken died to Mai and Terry since I actually like those guys. Aw, who am I kidding? I’ll tolerate whoever kills them as long as it’s entertaining and makes sense. Then again, this is just my take.

Heihachi has spoken in English a few times. Soul Calibur 2, SFxT and the English dubs of Tekken blood vengeance and the ova. It's always felt off though, especially in SC2.

I love "Fight Like A Devil!" The rap in the backround of Ryu vs Jin is awesome, as well as the fight! Ryu FTW.

I wish geese vs heihachi could've been 3d as well. But hey, good 3d animation is hard. I think geese's analysis felt shorter because no elon musk joke. Kidding. Anyway, hope the next battle involving street fighter and tekken would be like Karin vs Lili or Sakura vs Asuka. You all know exactly why.

I hope they do justice for the rest of King of Fighters franchise (i know they aren't kof characters, they just make part of the franchise), not winning just bringing up characters that aren't just from fatal fury

This battle for me was bad because of the reseach in Geese, they are right that Heihachi would win but because but when they scale Geese to Verse because Verse is way more powerfull than what they show in the episode, because of that Geese should have won

The only line from geese I've never been able to understand is his first one in the entire fight. I've only ever been a le to hear "MISHIMA, RANDOMGIBBERISHBULLSHIT GEESE!" If anyone can tell what he said at that part, please let me know, I'd love to find out.

I honestly wasn’t as bothered by the dad jokes in Heihachi vs Geese as much as I thought I would. They felt very brief to me. Also the Elon Musk joke is a mixed bag for me. It was too long, but I personally found it funny.

Ryu v. Jin is a brilliant animation but in my opinion a terrible debate piece. I believe there was a clear bias and personally think the outcome is a laughable joke. Also, the fact they dismissed the Jack feat and then used it here shows a huge red flag in terms of quality and consistency. But that is Death Battle, in a nutshell, an inconsistent mess of a show where the rules are more suggestions and the fandom feuds feed Ben and chad's wallets.

They didn't exactly dismiss the Jack feat in the first place because it wouldn't have mattered. The Jack feat came from a Tag 2 ending which isn't canon, and even if they did use it, they would've used the Akuma meteor feat to scale Ryu.

In the new episode, they even spoke about it and how someone like Hihachi decimated dozens of this version of Jack, and Jin is much stronger even just in base by the canon of Tekken than his grandfather. While the reverse is true for the Akuma feat. That and Akuma is canon in Tekken, to begin with and not scaling him to the fact that Hihachi canonly survived a raging demon, says something more to it in contrast. But all that aside, Quite a few other versus series and power scalers have done the fight and the only series to have Ryu win is DB comes off more contrarian than honest in my opinion. In the end, though, my thoughts on that fight don't change the outcome. Whether right or wrong, DDB will be DB.

I disagree I believe Ryu has every chance to win against Devil Jin after SFV. After SFV Ryu pretty much becomes Akuma in power level. Of course he's not yet Shin Akuma and would need to reach that level first, he has the full capability of reaching and possibly surpassing that level in the future, needless to say that it's confirmed that Evil Ryu is stronger than Akuma's base form, which means that if Evil Ryu had even more time to get used to the Satsui no Hadou he would also be stronger than Shin Akuma, the potential is there. Needless to say SF3 happens after SFV which means Ryu is even more powerful there than when he obliterated Bison. So yes I can see Ryu beating Devil Jin because of that. And yes I do know that Jin has the strongest Devil form in the family. It's just that Ryu has limited potential, while Jin still needs to master his devil form.

By far geese Howard vs heihachi is the best fight so far in season 8 in my opinion

I love both of them characters an even I new Geese was going to lose I was too obvious.

Heihachi is a Mishima and Mishimas for the most part can and should be played generally defensively. Heihachi is just an offensive Mishima. Which makes him suck. When you're archetype is centered around defense you should either lean into it, like Kazuya being the most defensive character to ever defend or if you chose to deviate like Devil Jin, who's also and offensive Mishima. Deviate in a way that suits the game's style. Which is why Heihachi could be considered the strongest Mishima in Tag 2 since that game was just about unadulterated damage and no other Mishima can smack all kinds of black and blue outta your ass like the old man. So yeah, while you're right to say Heihachi is a rushdown character, he's a Mishima-Rushdown character which is bad. And for the interest of nobody, Kazuya is a Mishima-Defense and punishment character while Devil Jin is a Mishima-all around character. And if you consider Jin a psuedo Mishima, dude is an all round primary, Mishima lite secondary, while Mommy Mishima is poking primary Mishima punishment secondary
