Hey Shrimp Keepers,
Today, we are looking at my 45 tank central system racks. The fish room tour will go over how I utilize my waste RO/DI water to use for fish and plants. My aquarium rack and fish room operates off of an automatic water change, lighting system which operates off a central timer and an overflow system that does not require drilled tanks. The over flow system also will never lose it's siphon.
Fist off, my planted tank fish room was created to utilize my waste RO water or reverse osmosis water. The RO waste water is full of minerals that won't pass through the RO unit and therefore, it is great for pants. The water automatically passes through my system and overflows out doing an automatic water change.
To over flow the water out of each system of 9 aquariums, I use a PVC overflow that is homemade. This overflow is build simply and cost effective. I explain how to build the PVC overflows that don't require drilling in the video. These are great for people that don't want to drill tanks or buy the expensive diamond drill bit.
The next part of this rack is how it all works. The aquarium rack is 4 aquariums on the top tier, 4 on the middle tier and one large pond on the bottom that is used as the sump. The top tanks receive water from the bottom pond and each tank overflows to the tank directly below it. Then, the middle tier aquariums overflow down into the pond. I use no filtration on these system. I just use plants and adequate water changes.
Next, I use LED planted lights from Fluval aquatics. These lights are dimmable and are perfect for a planted tank system. I wired these lights off a central timer and then use the dimming feature to prevent too much light on low light plants. It is a great system and you will not have to worry about turning the lights on and off.

Should put a screen or mesh bag on your overflow pipes. So the snails and lil fishies don't get stuck inside. Build up may occur, but it should be thin and you could easily wipe it off.

GFCI-- Ground Fault Circuit Interupter. When wired correctly one GFCI receptacle can protect up to 11 other receptacles down the circuit from it. GFIC's have a Line input wires coming from your source and a load output where the rest of the receptacles get wired from.

Would you mind sharing what your typical parameters are for the all of these tanks using the RO waste water? I have been trying to figure out how to prevent it from going straight down the drain, and you have the perfect solution, but it seems like it would be way too hard for most fish. my water before RO is PH 8.6 (can't remember GH and KH off the top of my head) or so. after RO it is around 6.6 with a GH and KH about 2 each.

Awesome system. And there are no any air pumps in any of the tanks? So is it true that any fish can live without aeration if the water is clean and there are some plants in a tank? Can barbs and tetras live with no air pump? Or rainbow fish?

people seem to be addicted to water changes i was thinking of a pvc system like this were u can use one or how many ever pumps to how many ever 55 gal drums and booster drums to run it like a canister system this comes closest to what i was thinking...drilling holes is an option but still doing research on it...

Flip Aquatics - LupDiesel, how did you calculate that the wooden beam is enough for all aquariums weight? If i calculate right, there are 400 kg for each section with 4 tanks? So total is 4000 ks, cuz i saw 10 section per 4 tanks each. What is a thickness of the beam? I want t do my rack from 40x40 mm beam for 1400 kilo, but not sure that this is enough. i want to make diagonal bars to strenghten.

I don't understand the r/o water part. if your using r/o for water changes and the waste water as a top off. that's just tap water. Why even bother with the r/o system? you said you still use dechlorinator.
