Breeding 1,000's of Fish out of This Fish Room...

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

Steve literally breeds thousands of fish every year. He is well known in the Cincinnati area and does a lot of business online at AquaBid. What a great guy to meet and talk with. The amount of experience he has and the information he shares is amazing. He is passionate about guppies, rainbows, angelfish and plecos. Basically, anything that Steve can breed, he likes.
Steve and his friend have come up with a way to make fish room water changes easy. Steve uses a technique to basically automate his entire water change process. Above all else, he is doing it on the cheap for little investment. This is a great water to do water changes when you have lots of aquariums.

    Great video!!!! Thank you for sharing your fish room set up. If the 15 tanks that I have running were set up like your tanks are, I would have a lot more time to enjoy my fish instead of always doing tank maint. & cleaning my filters. The fish I keep would have a happier life & also have less stress with automation & the job is always done at the time it's needed. Could you please share where you got the LED strips that you use? A great price & it does a great job of lighting your tanks. Your LED's are so much less money compared to the lighting that I have or have found anywhere.

    Awesome video! I've noticed on some of these massive fish rooms (like with aquarium co-op) they have an automatic universal filling system set up. Does this mean they're doing it to all the tanks? Like his angels, rainbows and livebearers are all getting the same water parameters? I'm actually asking partly because I'm wondering is it a good idea to keep angels and livebearers together (leaning more towards livebearers' preferred water parameters) in a community tank and would like to hear it from the pros instead of sifting through 20 speculatory (and potentially snarky) responses from fellow hobbyists on forums.

  • @stevejulio7164

    @stevejulio7164

    It always depends on the exact species and their specific requirements. IMO generally angels and the more common livebearers have similar water requirements. In this system all tanks received the same water unless other wise noted.

    For Breeders, water changes are suggested. For those Fish Keepers, water changes are NOT necessary. What is necessary is a good bio filtration system. I haven't done a water change in over 1.5 years in my 100gal, and that was only to move it.

  • @wrfiftyl

    @wrfiftyl

    You have a 100 gallon tank though. The average fishkeeper probably has a tank of about 25 gallon I should think so that nitrate builds quicker. I'm curious what your water parameters are?

  • @HAL-dm1eh

    @HAL-dm1eh

    5 жыл бұрын

    I agree I think some newbs are gonna see this and it be burned in their brains forever they have to do massive water changes twice a week on their tanks. I'd still lean towards that for goldfish not because I couldn't build a good enough bio filtration system, but because they're always growing for years. I don't want stunted growth in spots and overgrowth in others (I've seen this first hand).
