Girl, you’re not alone having a crush on Jim Reeves!!! When I was in my teens, my Mom and I used to play his records over and over. And, take my word for it, he was as charming in real life as you say he is!! Thank you for your beautiful reaction to this song and to the singer who I grew up listening to with magic in my heart. I’m 78 now and hearing him sing again gives me chills. ❤I also want to tell you how sweet and pure you are with your genuine ways. I love you!❤

He was only 40 years old when he died in a plane crash. He was known as "Gentleman Jim" by his friends due to his congenial manner so that nice guy vibe you're picking up is accurate. His baritone voice was velvety smooth; like a contemporary artist of his time, Patsy Cline, he left us far too soon.

Wow.. After all these years, I never knew he passed young from a plane crash. Crazy how many people, especially artists, died in plane crashes in those days. You'd think some would've noticed the trend and stop flying.

In 1959, Jim Reeves made a TV/radio simulcast performance on the Country music program, “Town Hall Party”. The show was televised locally in Los Angeles, California (and kinescoped for American Forces Television overseas to US soldiers, sailors, and aviators serving outside the US), and broadcast nationally on NBC Radio. I highly recommend that you watch that episode of “Town Hall Party” at your leisure. It is available in two parts here on KZread, and the program lasts for about 90 minutes total. Jim Reeves performed two sets on the program, so you can skip around to them if you choose to do so.

The velvet voice of Jim Reeves. He also recorded several albums of hymns, which my mom would play every Sunday after church. He died in a plane crash in 1964, the same year my daddy died. I was 7. Here's a heads-up for you - when the holiday season rolls around, he has a fabulous Christmas album called "12 Songs of Christmas". All great songs!! Also check out "Christmas with Marty Robbins" - both of these albums are wonderful!!

My Mother had his album on LP growing up and played it over and over and over again on the record player! My Father would sing her his song, "Snowflake" and my Mom was a Native of Alaska Dad met while he was drafted for Vietnam from Kentucky and stationed in Alaska. Poor Dad would be killed by a drunk driver the same day his orders came to leave for Vietnam when I was only two weeks old after Mom had just celebrated their 1st anniversary. So Mom would tell me the tale of Dad singing the Jim Reeves song "Snowflake" to her and of his love of the Everly Brothers, whom Mom also had on LP. So I heard Jim Reeves and the Everly Brothers regularly growing up in my home as a child in the 1970s.

Jim Reeves did indeed appeal to women and teenage girls in the 1950s and 1960s. He and Elvis Presley were label mates at RCA Records. Jim Reeves had a number of hit Country music songs in the early 1950s on the Los Angeles-based Abbott Records label, before he signed a contract with RCA Records in 1956, the same year that Elvis Presley signed with RCA Records as well. Presley’s final recording in 1977 at his home recording studio at Graceland, was a cover of Jim Reeves’ 1960 signature song, “He’ll Have To Go”.

Thank you so much, young lady. Yes, he was really like that. Kind, charitable, soft-spoken, with a voice like butter. (or velvet) Now to Ray Price or Eddy Arnold. Songs like "He'll Have to Go", (you got a piece of that in a medley) or "For the Good Times" Crooners of the '40's and '50's is a rabbit hole you could get lost in. Lady crooners("Torch singers") of the same era is just as big. Doris Day, Rosemary Clooney, and Etta James are just a start.

That is the most taken in by his voice, demeanor and gentleness I have ever seen you. You looked totally enamored right in the eyes. I was wondering as well if you do any singing/ recording. You have a really nice voice and I have a couple songs you would sound great on. Of course, I am just basing that on the little bits I hear you sing from time to time. That's, of course, if you have time when you're not being Nolan's partner (Mekia Cox) on The Rookie.

Jim Reeves and Patsy Cline, both were country stars that had a considerable crossover appeal.

So many singers killed in small planes. I am a pilot and my advice is never get in a small plane with an unknkown or unvetted pilot.

Britt I know this is old now but I missed it somehow. Gentleman Jim and Nat King Cole had the smoothest voices and smiles.! Jim and Nat could have swapped songs.!

I appreciate Jim's music. His voice is gentle and smooth. But it's a bit too soft for my taste. Eddy Arnold and Ray Price have decent versions of this song. I've always liked Elvis' version. However, Dean Martin does the song complete justice.

Oh my Darling!! You're getting it. The live recordings are not that great though. Try a studio recording. Try Distant drums or one of his gospel songs. He's really like that. I have a crush on him too, and I'm a guy
