He'll Have to Go is his signature song and well worth the reaction all on its own. He was called Gentleman Jim, and like Patsy Cline, Brenda Lee, and Eddy Arnold, they all recorded in the Nashville Sound of the time, orchestra instruments, the Jordanaires singing backup, Floyd Cramer on the piano and rich beautiful ballads.

Floyd Cramer was awesome on the keys. "Last Date" was heard quite often around our house when I was young.

Yes, for sure on 'He'll have to go'.
I started crying as soon as he sung. RIP Jim Reeves.
Ahhhh.... I love his voice. My parents had a lot of his albums and when I was little, I'm talking eight or nine, I would curl up on the floor in front of the record player and play through each album, singing and just loving his voice. He's one of those less known gems. This was wonderful ❤
What a beautiful voice Jim Reeves had. You should really listen to the rest of "He'll Have to Go" and to "Welcome to My World." You won't be disappointed.
Jim Reeves was an American country & popular music singer-songwriter from the 50's-80's. He was known as "Gentleman Jim". He had many great hits such as "Mexican Joe", "Bimbo", "He'll Have To Go", "Adios Amigo", "Welcome To My World", "Am I Losing You?", "I Love You Because", "I Won't Forget You", "Make The World Go Away", "Missing You", "I Can't Stop Loving You" etc. He was only 40 years old when he died in a plane crash. But he left a great legacy of music behind.
The Tennessee Waltz was originally made popular by Patti Page in 1950. Jim Reeves singing the entire song He'll Have To Go is fantastic. So is Welcome To My World.
"Gentleman" Jim Reeves passed away in a plane crash in 1964... He continued to chart songs into the '80s... pretty good legacy...
There will never be another voice like Jim's
Thank you so much for featuring Gentleman Jim, he is the pride of our family and our hometown in Panola County, Texas. It's a joy seeing young people listening to and enjoying his music. Many blessings!

I take it you are Mary Reeves, Jim's wife before he passed??
Jim Reeves, Eddy Arnold and Ray Price were all smoooooooth singers.
I Love Jim Reeves!
What a voice Jim had. One of the finest around. The piano you hear is played by Dean Manuel who died with Jim in the plane crash July 31 1964. Jim would have turned 100 this August. RIP Jim and Dean.
His voice is literally timeless. So smooth! I remember both of my parents listening to him.
His voice was so smooth and wonderful!! Love this! Thank you!!
The gentleman Jim Reeves such a an amazing voice
You have GOT to listen to both Tennessee Waltz and He'll Have To Go in their full versions, but particularly that last one, because it has such a beautiful bridge which you didn't even get to hear in this medley. It was a huge hit and people started clapping for a reason. It is so moving, and if I remember correctly, it's done as an even slower waltz and so it's just that much more atmospheric.
When I took my guitar over to my grandparents to play an old song that he used to play when I was little called "Wildwood Flower", he eventually started singing "Four Walls" and asked if I knew how to play it. I didn't, but I eventually looked up the chords and learned. Unfortunately he passed away on the 1st of this month. I never got to play it for him.
Ole' Jim Reeves had one of the most beautiful voices in music. Tragic end, taken too soon.
Jim Reeves was another wonderful singer we lost too soon. The penultimate song of his is Welcome To My World.
Country Music. True slices of life, condensed into a three-minute, three-chord, three-part harmony chapter that everyone can hear and say, "Damn. I could have written that."
The full versions of those songs are great. Much like in the Loretta Lynn medley, many deserved to be listen to fully.
LOVING YOU AS MUCH AS I LOVE JIM REEVES....THE BEST!!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
He was known as Gentleman Jim Reeves. He has passed away which is all the more a loss for the example he set. You should do each of those songs in their entirety. You'll love them. His best, and really his signature song, was the last, "He'll Have To Go."
So Pleased to see you react to Jim Reeves, so few have realized his wonderful voice. Glad you appreciate his music...when you can, you must check out "Welcome to My World ". My absolute favorite song, so much that I wished I had his voice! (Not to mention it's arguably one of the greatest love songs ever)
My dad absolutely loved Jim Reeves.
The Tennessee Waltz is one of my state’s beautiful state songs. Thanks for reacting.
Gentleman Jim.
Ibought my mother that album in the early sixties ,i think before his tragic death .Every time i would go to see her it would be playing ,no matter how scratchy it got with age .Some days she did not know where she was but she knew that i got her that music. Ilove the music but you are such a delight that i follow your channel just to hear your reaction.
Hollywood has to call this girll!
I imagine when its my time The voice of Jim Reeves will guide me up there🤩
You would love He'll Have To Go in its entirety.
The great ones don't seem to take themselves too seriously. They just make good music and enjoy the moments. He was a true gentleman and made many great songs - it's a large library of music. We lost him way too soon. Another great country balladeer was Ray Price. He often appeared on Johnny Carson's Tonight Show; he was equally at home on major television programs, the Las Vegas stage and the Grand Ole Opry. "For the Good Times" would be a great place for you to start that journey.
The smoothest voice you will ever hear
Such a great singer, listening to this song brings back memories of my Dad playing the Guitar and singing to my Mom. Jim Reeves, was such a Country Gentleman.
He'll Have to Go is one of his best
He had the most beautiful and warm voice I've ever heard.
Jim Reeves sing's the classic " He'll have to Go" the full version ii is so good. It chokes you up just hearing it.
I love Jim Reeves I listened to him as a child at grandma house
When I was about 14 I was stuck on this song, I associated it with a beautiful girl I liked, Im well in my 60's now, I still remember her.
If you want my mother to shed a tear, just play Jim Reeves.
If you liked the Tennessee Waltz then you must hear it by the artist that sold the 12 million copies, Mr Eddy Arnold.❤❤❤
Jim was from east Texas and is buried about 15 miles south from where I lived for 25 years. His memorial is in Panola County, TX just outside of Carthage. My mom had several albums and tapes of his, he was her favorite singer. I had a major crush on him as a child. He was so handsome and debonair!
Thanks for doing this. Jim Reeves is unique. In my opinion, the best singer I've ever heard.
“He’ll Have To Go” was mom’s favorite. Dad used to play and sing it to her. 👵🏼💜☮️
You should review these whole songs some day, all three of those are excellent songs. We played his song "Welcome to My World" for our Wedding Dance at our Wedding. He has one of the great voices of all time.
A charming laid back Texas gentleman. He was my dad's favorite singer. I remember him being upset when JR died in that plane crash. A lot of wonderful singers died that way during that era. I was very young but quite upset when Johnny Horton died the same way.
He and Eddy Arnold were king balladeers in my dad's day..i'm a 65 yr old woman...loved all those story tellers
Hello Britt love your country reactions ❤
If you've not have not heard Tennessee Waltz you need to listen to the complete version. A CLASSIC. My favorite of his is "Welcome to My World." Worth the listen and reaction from one of Country's all time greatest balladers.
I grew up listening to Jim Reeves as he was one of my Dad's favorites. Sunday morning breakfast cooking in the kitchen. Being from North Dakota, I loved his song The Blizzard! Please check it out.❤
So glad you found Jim Reeves girl. Do a little bio research on him and you'll learn what a great man he was as well as that 'velvet voice'. "He'll Have to Go' is one of my faves. For yourself, try the whole song.
My two favourite Jim reeves songs are MAUREEN and The BLUE CANADIAN ROCKIES. I've over 400 Jim reeves songs in my collection. Great upload lass thank you for sharing 🍀❤️🍀❤️🍀Dave from the Giants Causeway here in Northern Ireland ❤️❤️👍
❤❤❤❤❤
OMG SHE IS SO BEAUTIFUL
I like your style Miss Britt!
I had his best hits tape stuck in my tape player in my car back in the 90s. I finally was able to extract it after months of hearing it everytime I was in the car. Two must listens -- Distant Drums (Mary, Marry Me) and Hawaiin Wedding Song.
Jim was the smoothest, most mellow baritone in memory. This sound quality in this recording doesn't do him justice -- typical of early TV broadcasts. Treat yourself to the studio version of his signature song "He'll Have to Go" ( kzread.info/dash/bejne/eIR21tOvnM2rdto.html ) and you'll hear that golden voice!

Totally agree. 👍
Jim's nickname back then was , Gentleman Jim Reeves.
the great JIM REEVES
Tennessee Waltz is one of the most beautiful melodies of all time. It is a shame that it has to come with such sad words. Check out "He'll have to go" it is indeed amazing.
He was always known as gentleman Jim when I was growing up.
Gentleman Jim, grew up to his beautiful music, thank you
I’m a little late seeing this video (9 months late) but another great reaction to an oldie. One of the best reasons i.m.o. that music from this era and any era before auto tunes is that there’s no editing or alteration to someone voice. If they were a singer from this era or before auto tunes really then they could sing and some of the best singers ever came from around this era, especially in country music.
If you want to pay tribute, his monument is outside of Carthage Texas, on HWY 79.
Jim Reeves wow
He was my daddy's favorite. He would sing, " put your sweet lips a little closer to the phone. " brings back sweet memories.
I'm so happy you reacted to "He'll Have To Go". 😁😁😁 And if you like a good story, Jeanne Black made a response to Jim. Hers is called "He'll Have To Stay".
when he said 'he didn't' it's because 'tennessee waltz was a HUGE hit by patti paige (noy him), but 'he did' because 'he'll have to go' was a HUGE jim reeves hit
Jim Reeves was my mom’s very favorite of all time. Takes me back. God I miss her.
"4 walls to hear me, 4 walls to see, 4 walls too near me, closing in on me."
Jim Reeves was one of my mom’s favorites. I went through depression several years ago and the Dr. said “ no soap operas and no country and western music.” I didn’t watch soap operas so I had to cut back on some of my favorite music.

Not many call it Country and Western Music that proves you know your music. I grew up in Tucson, Arizona hearing the Gentleman Jim Reeves on many radio stations, stereos and in the mall!
Jim Reeves was great. Tennessee Waltz was a huge hit for Patti Page. Worth a listen!
You should listen to Floyd Cramer piano Tennessee Waltz. Mr. Floyd put out several albums and also played piano on many stars recordings, including a lot of my man Elvis and Patsy Cline
You'll need to check out The Blizzard by Jim Reeves, any songs by him are great but I think the story he tells in that one is really good.
I am probably the same age as you...I can tell you this...In South Africa...The Afrikaans communities LOVE this guy... Listen to a song called YONDER COMES A SUCKER sang by him, lol
Awesome voice
Gentlemen Jim Reeves! Thank you Brit!!!
Jim Reeves was a gentleman
"More than words" and "To be with you"👌
you should listen to Patsy's version of the Tennessee Waltz.

Patti Page (1927-2013). She wouldn't know who Patti Page --The Singing Rage was.
Josh Turner "your man" or "why don't we just dance" he has a beautiful baritone voice
He loved signing 'Tennessee Waltz' but never recorded it in the studio.
You have such a beautiful smile.
Many many artists have sung Tennessee Waltz, you should listen to the entire song by some of them , I'm sure you will enjoy them.
His voice is mellow!
He had a great voice. So clear and pure. If you like harmonies, look up Ringmasters Quartet Bells of Notre Dame.
A great reaction. I would suggest that all of these songs would be worth seperate reaction. There is a story in these that the medley did not allow you to hear. Also, in talking about sad songs in country music, you made me think of "Nobody Likes Sad Songs" by Ronnie Milsap. He had a #1 country hit with it.
You will have to listen to the whole song He will have to go.
Jim Reeves! Nothing more needs saying.
More Jim please!
Now you need to listen to each of these whole songs. He gave you a taste now eat the meal.
Perfect a cappella harmonization: Voctave's *Disney Princess Medley.* Please!
I love your reactions. A good country story teller is Tom T. Hall. Start with "Old dogs, children and Watermelon Wine".
Tennessee Waltz is one of Tennessee's state songs.
reaction to jijiji in olavarria 2017 you might like it greetings from argentina
You should listen to Patty Page sing the Tennessee Walz
@brittreacts You should really give Distant Drums a listen. It's my favorite Jim Reeves song and I believe you'd enjoy it!
LOL Britt. Not his cousin. His friend. Still not good, but not a family member. Gentleman Jim Reeves. Listen to the 3rd song (He'll Have to Go.) in it's entirety. tennessee Waltz was a huge song for the great Patti Page, though as Jim said many people recorded it.

Wow, we used to perform all of these in my honky-tonk band, although never in a medley. These are such great songs and when we played occasionally for people that were old enough to really know them because they danced to them when they were young, the response and the emotions that came out was just incredible and it makes it all worth it.
If you liked that old time harmony see if you can find something by The Sons of the Pioneers.
Someone just doesn't "steal" your girl or guy, it's a two way proposition.
