My dad loved Jim Reeves... Hearing this just took me back to when I was a little girl and we would listen to this and other records on Sundays at my grandparents' house. This was a favorite, as was David Houston's Almost Persuaded, The Browns' The Three Bells, Ferlin Huskey's On The Wings Of A Dove, Marty Robbins' Devil Woman, Eddy Arnold's Make The World Go Away, and other " Country Crooners". I always loved Merle Haggard's Silver Wings and Its All In The Movies. All these guys had voices smooth as silk. Pure talent.

How many hours as a little boy did I spend listening to Gentleman Jim Reeves with my dad? Or Marty Robbins or Eddie Arnold. Then my old man would grab his guitar and go out on the front porch and start singing. People would stop and listen, and tell him he sounded just like Jim Reeves. And he did have that great of a voice. That rich timbre. This brought back a lot of memories for me. Nice work, young man.

Another voice from my earliest childhood - the one and only Jim Reeves! A voice as pure and smooth as honey. He had several albums of hymns - my mother would always play them on Sunday while we ate dinner after church on Sunday morning. Also, we would listen to his 12 Songs of Christmas album every year. Whenever I hear one of his Christmas songs, I can automatically start singing the next song on the album in the right key - that's how much we listened to it. I have CDs of his and Marty Robbins' Christmas albums, and we always play them on Christmas morning as we open gifts and celebrate. Please keep these reactions coming, Harri!

I just found your channel and I love it. A person who can appreciate music for the simple beauty of it without the memories of growing up with it is a very special person! Will have to sub to your channel and see what all you have to offer. BTW, there are no bad songs from Jim Reeves. Please, if you see this and haven't reacted to it, try listening to "The Blizzard." It's a heartbreaker, but so beautiful. I'm 67 and had 9 older siblings, so I had the benefit of music going back to the real old stuff. Many blessings from across the pond in the US.

Dear Harri, I was good friends with the legendary RCA Records producer Ethel Gabriel. Sadly, she just died last March at the age of 99. Anyway, Ethel always spoke very fondly of "Jimmy" (as she called him) when his name would come up in one of our conversations. She’d always become crestfallen when recalling his premature death in that tragic plane crash in July of 1964. I’m proud that Jim’s 1963 Christmas album is one of the many great classic Christmas albums that I was able to get a proper reissue/remaster on CD in 2019 through Real Gone Music. Not many reactors react to Christmas music, but if suggested anything, it would by Jim’s magnificent rendition of “Mary’s Little Boy Child.” Keep up the good work on your reaction channel.

@@HarriBestReactions Yes Harri, Ethel regaled me with many a story of Jim. I almost felt like I knew him personally myself. Not all celebrities are what they appear to be in real life, but according to Ethel, this man certainly was. She adored him. She also knew his wife, Mary. It was from a phone call from her that she found out about Jim’s death. Mary worked hard to preserve and protect her husband’s legacy via the organization that she created after his death, Jim Reeves Enterprises. Sadly, Mary died from Alzheimer’s disease 22 years ago in November of 1999. And that’s a wonderful idea about doing the Christmas Music reactions.

Then when I got into my 40's, and heard this song and Crazy, I had a whole new appeciation for them. Not only an appreciation, I fell in love and bought their CDs. Jim Reeves is my all time favorite singer. And I enjoy everything from opera to thrash. But Jim's voice was just perfect. He was a huge perfectionist also. A bear in the studio that would do take after take. Sadly died way too young. But he left us with huge gifts in song. With Jim his technique vowel shape, intonation, timber and hardly any vibrato comes across as so easy and breezy. Yet it takes a tremendous amount of control and work to accomplish this. Its the mark of a great singer that he stays so relaxed and we think it just pours out like magic. As a vocalist myself he is my hero.

Hi, from across the pond in America.😀 I grew up on Jim Reeves.. It was my Dad's favorite singer... He played his records almost every night he got home from work.... Try a song by Jim called, "Never Grow Old", and "My Cathedral"... Those were some of my Dad's favorites... Have a blessed day.😀

I grew up in the very far north of the Canadian province of Alberta. It was country central. During the early 60s we were able to pick up some rock stations at night from the US , and that ended up with me being in a rock band. Never at any time in the midst of all the hair and beads did I lose my early love for what we then called C&W. After all these years, Gentleman Jim and Miss Patsy are my go-to time outs. Either one of their greatest hits albums is an hour of therapy. A gold record reaction, Hari 📀Essential follow up: I Love You Because.

How fantastic you are listening to Jim Reeves. One of the true pioneers of country music. He did a cover of Danny Boy that I think is the best version ever. I believe you would like it.

He was my dad's favorite singer. He was very upset when he was killed in a plane crash. Quite a few legends died ithat way during those times. Patsy C, Johnny Horton, Buddy Holly to nsme a few.
