This is a recording from his show in Oslo, Norway on 15 April 1964. Lead guitar Leo Jackson, bass Henry Strzelecki, piano Dean Manuel and Kenny Buttrey on drums, The Blue Boys. I was there, an unforgettable occation.
Thank you Britt, if u can, listen to "The Blizzard" by Jim, a song about a cowboy and his horse trying to get home in a snowstorm.
Brit, when I was fourteen and experiencing a major crush on my first love, Jim Reeves had a radio hit called, Snowflake, my boyffriend used to sing it to me. . To this day, at age 72, I still love it . Be blessed ., Thank you for the positivity you exude.

Snowflake is a great song. I wish Britt would react to it.
My late mothers favorite singer ,a voice like velvet and smooth as butter.
Britt, before the tape started, Jim said, "Some of our tunes have been slow, and some fast, and some half-fast". Not only was Jim a world-class singer, but also a fantastic whistler! An incredible talent. Thanks for doing this.

And I think he was mischievous in his use of half-fast knowing very well that it sounded like half-assed. The smile on his face!
Jim Reeves and Don Williams both had that calming type of voice. Good reaction, Britt.

Don't forget Charlie Pride.
I love how you are listening to and evaluating various music genres, singers, artists, musicians, songwriters and entertainers. Jim Reeves was a Country legend, who tragically died far to young at 41 in a plane crash. 🥺🥺
Brings back childhood memories, he was my mum's favourite artist.❤
This guy’s voice is just so smooth and perfect
Such a beautiful voice, Love Jim, R.I.P
Nobody doesn't like Jim Reeves! 😀Jim Reeves has always been the gold standard where all other singers are compared to.
I am from Indonesia and i love Jim Reeves voice, i heard the song since i was a kid in 1970s.. i also like Pat Boone ..thank you for your reaction Brittney.. and play the oldiest song... best regards from Indonesia
Smooth as silk that voice. And the perfect whistling. Bravo!!
I totally agree with your assessment. "He has that safe calming effect like Mr. Rogers" I think you nailed it. Here's another artist that I grew up listening to that gave me that same feeling. "Louis Armstrong - What A Wonderful World" (by the channel: Soulful Sounds) the quality of the video is pretty decent. You have a good ear Britt, hope you have a great day too
Gentleman Jim as he has always been known as by us older folks got the nickname earnestly. He was known as a very charming and polite man who had no enemies I know of. Everyone who met him loved him.
Love your appraisal of the voice master, Jim Reeves!!!
The smoothest voice there has ever been . ck out his gospel !
Love seeing you appreciate real country music!
If you ever feel like watching it, he was in a movie from years ago. I think it was called “Kimberly Jim.”
A year ago and I missed this one??? Love the hair!!
"He's like a warm cup of chicken-noodle soup" 🤣 Brilliant reaction! If you like a good whistler, check out Roger Whittaker.

Most definitely needs to listen to Roger Whittaker do the Mexican Whistler. That will blow Britt’s mind.
Tragically, Jim died a short time later in a plane crash in which he was the pilot. The guy on the piano who was also his manager, died in the crash as well. You should react to his version of "Am I That Easy To Forget".

The pianist is Dean Manuel.
This was in Oslo, Norway in April of 1964. He died died in a plane crash three months later. Also on the bill was Bobby Bare. He sang three songs on stage there. Two of them were "Detroit City" and "500 Miles." Bobby turned 88 earlier this month. He has recorded a heap of songs --a number were self-penned.
I was raised on Jim Reeves. I agree you should do The Blizzard. A few others are Deep Dark Water, Teardrops on the Rocks, I Missed Me, Waltzing On Top Of The World.
My mom gave birth same moment the news aired that he had died in the plane-crash. Mom couldn't push, cause she was crying. My brother wasn't named after him, but if they hadn't decided it yet, his nam would've been Jim Elvis. Cause my parents was HUGE fans of them both.
Not many people know this song. I have the original album. It's one of my favorite songs.
I love history songs and he's from the same era as Johnny Horton who sang the Battle of New Orleans which starts out - In 1814 we took a little trip Along with Colonel Jackson down the mighty Mississip' We took a little bacon and we took a little beans And we caught the bloody British in the town of New Orleans
Gentleman Jim's voice is smoother than a cashmere jock strap.
"The blizzard" 😢 by Jim Reeves
Jim Reeves died in 1964 but his remains the smoothest voice in country music....perhaps followed closely by Vern Gosdin. Jim was piloting his single engine plane back to Nashville after looking at some real estate in Arkansas and he ran into some bad weather and apparently got disoriented and crashed. I believe it was a couple of days before his body was found and Marty Robbins and Ernest Tubb joined those who were searching for him. Some of Jim's biggest hits are He'll Have to Go, Welcome to My World, Four Walls, Distant Drums, and The Blizzard but I think his most beautiful song is Blue Side of Lonesome. Blue Side of Lonesome talks about a bar where only lonely people hang out and is, in fact, so lonely that "Someone broke the bar mirror with only the ghost of a smile." I have always tried to imagine a place that was so lonely that "a ghost of a smile" would cause the mirror to crack! You said he was "debonair". I think that's a good word to use for him because he was famously known as "Gentleman Jim". He has been gone for almost 60 years but his music lives on.
Perfect ❤️🔥
Lol, you get it. ❤
King Jim, Queen Patsy, Prince Charley, it's as simple as that.
Welcome to my World, also great song of Jim Reeves, even sing by Elvis Presley
🥰🥰🥰🥰🎶🎵🎶🎵
He was known as Gentleman Jim. As several others from that era, he died in a plane crash - he was the pilot.
Perfect a cappella harmonization: Voctave's Disney Princess Medley. Please!
So you know...They cut off some of his dialogue. He said: We have some fast tunes and some slow tunes, this is one of our half-fast songs." He had a great sense of humor!!!
You must do He'll Have To Go!
Please react to Eddy Arnold and/or Ray Price. Same type of singer as Jim Reeves but each is unique.
You have to listen to He’ll have to go, Jim’s best song!!!!!!!
For a different side of Jim Reeves listen to Bimbo or Mexican Joe
I'm always slightly jealous when singers whistle in a song. When I try it in karaoke all the mic picks up is the flow of air and none of the whistle
Distant drums
It's not slow; it's not fast; it's half fast.
Die Alte hört sich lieber selber reden!!
