She wraps her voice around a song and caresses the music out of it.
Patsy was an accomplished yodeler and yodeled in her concerts, but her producers wouldn't let her yodel on her records, so that yodeling skill was compressed into those little cries and stops that are so effective.
Even Linda Rhonstadt marveled at her voice saying "she could go home at closing time, roll out of bed at 8 A.M., go to the studio and record a perfect record the first take.
Mama Patsy and Mama Loretta led the way for Auntie Dolly and Auntie Reba.

Also, don't forget the influence of The Carter Family (Mother Maybelle, Helen, June, and Anita) on country music during that period!

Yes, especially Loretta. She loved Patsy and named one of the twins Patsy!

Britt, I’ve been listening to her for 55 years and she still gives me chills!
I love her too...could listen all day !
the recorded version of this song is amazing...this live version is good too...recorded is perfection.
Patsy initiated and perfected the cry in her voice! Doesn't hurt she had the best pipes ever!!
Patsy had a really tough life and she was involved in 3 accidents (or something like that) before a plane crash took her life. Each time she got hurt, her voice would be damaged or weak, so she sung a little different every time. In the studio recording of "Crazy," she was not 100% with her voice back from an accident but still knew how to sing that song! "Sweet Dreams" is such a powerful song that I know you'll enjoy a lot! I love "Blue Moon of Kentucky" which has a great little growl in it near the end of it!
She was the best!!! Before my tum but my mom listen to her!❤
Sweet Dreams is one that really shows her vocal range.
The depth of her voice is unmatched, even today. All-time legend!
She's really phrasing behind-the-beat on this clip.
Patsy never sang a bad song, but you owe it to yourself to listen to the studio version of this song.

I prefer this version.
Love Patsy, one of the most recognizable voices AND catalogue of songs... The movie "Sweet Dreams" was based on her life.. lots of great music.. a strong willed woman who persevered and made it. She was taken from us too soon, tragically died in an airplane crash...but her music, her legendary lives on...miss you Patsy..PEACE
Love Patsy's she makes singing look so effortless and easy! There's no straining she's all calm with pipes that brings peace too ones sole❤❤
I remember in the 60's walking into a diner with my mom and dad, in the small town I grew up in and hearing this playing on the jukebox! Wonderful memories!!!!
She's Got You
Love Me Some Britt….Patsy is an ICON!!!
Oh, Britt. You are adorable. After falling in love with Patsy you should check out some of her male contemporaries. Bill Anderson was known as "Whispering Bill" and Jim Reeves was known as having a "velvet voice". There are others but these 2 come first to mind. In a comment on another video I gave a list of old country story tellers. For a classic-rock storyman, you can't beat Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band. He doesn't just tell a story but he paints a picture with his lyrics. You have embarked on a long and winding path, but it is a beautiful stroll. Enjoy!
This is live too. No auto tune or nothing. Oh if you asked Dolly and Reba if they were in Patsy’s class I am sure they would defer to her. Image if she had lived?
This was after her devastating car accident. She wore her hair to hide scar.
Patsy Cline, Linda Ronstadt and KD Lang are my all time favorite female vocalists...they could sing anything!
Also, hearing you say "Auntie Dolly" and "Auntie Reba" makes my heart do a little flutter. I was raised on these ladies and so many more. Patty Loveless, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Faith Hill, Loretta Lynn, The Judds, and soooooo many more!!!
You seem to have a nice voice yourself. How about an album of Patsy Cline covers by you? That would be sweet.
Auntie Patsy, forever ❤️
I suggest that you check out LeAnn Rimes - Blue (Official Music Video)
Great song by a great singer and tragically passed away in a plane crash in 1963.
There will never be another Patsy Cline
Patsy reminds me of growing up in the 70s and dancing with my mom to her favorite singer❤❤ Love your reactions!
Don't forget Auntie Loretta Lynn too. Reba, and Dolly would 2nd that. Patsy gave Loretta Lynn her blessings, when Loretta was worried that Patsy would be mad at her for making such a big stir in the town.
Oh, Brit!! You will absolutely be blown away by Sweet Dreams!!
I remember listening to this on the radio when I was a kid. Nice!
Two movies you need to watch. Sweet Dreams is about Patsy. Coal Miner’s daughter is about Loretta Lynn. They were very close friends and were trying to make it into the business at the same time. Loretta woke up one morning and the radio announced Patsy had been killed. It’s gut wrenching, but both movies are great.

Yes, both movies are fabulous! I have to admit, though, that Sweet Dreams is my favorite. Patsy just grabs ahold of your heart. You can't help but love her!
I learned about her music when I watched Coal Miner's Daughter, Loretta Lynn's story. Beverly D'Angelo played her brilliantly.
Patsy was one of the greatest singers ever. Too bad that her and Karen Carpenter weren't able to do a duet Would have been fabulous. Sweet Dreams is tremendous worth checking out
as they say...Patsy could sing the phone book and it would sell....her cry-breaks are the best. RIP Patsy.
If you love Patsy, Reba, and Dolly, you should check out Emmylou Harris, She's an absolute legend in her own right and is in very high demand to sing harmony parts on other bigtime star's recordings. I'd try Two More Bottles of Wine; Bluebird Wine; Boulder to Birmingham; or Red Dirt Girl. To get a sense of her amazing harmony singing, try Bob Dylan's One More Cup of Coffee.
My Dad introduced me to Patsy Cline and Elvis, he passed when I was 10 but those two artists stuck with me. I feel so close to him when I am listening, and they are go-to's for me when I have a long drive. I just found your channel tonight, but I am sure you'll be spammed with comments by me over the next few days. :P I love watching reactions to songs and artists I love!
Thank you for reacting to Her.. 😢
Great song, great singer. Interesting to note that before the mid- 60s, esp. the British Invasion (lead by the Beatles and drummer Ringo Starr), oftentimes the drummer would use only a single snare drum and Maybe a cymbal. Just something to quietly keep the beat in the background. In even earlier times it would have been the guitarist and/or standup bass player keeping the steady tempo. You can easily pick out the simple beat-keeping drum style here. Nowadays, the drummer is often a featured part of a group with a massive kit setup to work with !!
Try Patsy’s version of the old Bob Wills classic “faded love”. It’s the best thing she ever recoded, especially the last few seconds, you’ll understand when you hear it.
Thanks to technical possibillities, in 1981 they mixed together a duet of "I fall to pieces" by Patsy and Jim Reeves. Two wonderful voices of Country Music! :) Patsy and Jim never recorded that song together, but they sang it in the same key and (almost?) the same tempo.
She was a something special
I can only hear my grandma singing this song. This and She's Got You were two of her favorites. Classic voice and timeless tunes.
She had the most amazing skin. Gorgeous lady.
FUN FACT.. Leann Rimes song "Blue" released in 1996, was originally for Patsy Cline but before that transpired Patsy died in Plane crash.
Brit, those of us who grew up listening to her have loved her for a long, long time! God, I wish she hadn’t left us so early.
Maybe look into jazz singers Sarah Vaughn, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Bessie Smith, etc. great reactions. Thanks
You are great at pointing out her talent and vocal beauty.
Someday I'm going to run into Miss Patsy, and you can bet I'm going to give her a big, big hug. She was awesome.
i know You get ton of request but at sometime You real should check out Don Williams!!!! i think you will find his voice special.

Warm and velvety!
Patsy is the queen of COuntry. The artist before autotune or any real help from electronics. Have you watched the movie about her? It is sweet!
Because the footage is so old. You really should hear the studio version.
I remember when her songs were played on the cafe juke box. Whole place got quiet just listening.
She's born here in my town. Was stellar.
For a slightly deeper tone to her voice, ‘She’s got You’ is the song you should give a listen to. Just thought of another song, ‘Strange’ is also really good.

I love that song so much. And there is one I can't think of the title of off the top of my head but it's something about she finds his wallet. And it's really snappy and up-tempo.
Blue by Leeann Rimes. She is Patsy Cline's voice reincarnated.
You should also listen to the studio version instead of this live one. I feel that she’s more emotional on this live version and that’s actually cool too. Please listen to Faded Love. I guarantee you’ll love it. The story was she got very emotional when she recorded Faded Love that she was in tears. There are so many other songs that she sang beautifully. Sweet Dreams, Someday (You’ll Want Me To Want You), How Can I Face Tomorrow, There He Goes, Why Can’t He Be You, Leavin’ On Your Mind, When You Need A Laugh, etc…..
Nothing like Patsy Cline . The back up singers are the gospel group the Joranaires
You really need to see the movie "Sweet Dreams" about Patsy's life. Jessica Lange, the actress who portrayed Patsy, was nominated for an academy award for Best Actress in that movie. Jessica, who has a good voice, refused to sing any of the songs in the movie, insisting that they use Patsy's original vocal tracks. If you do watch it, please record your reaction so we can watch it with you. Peace
There are a lot of great women in country music you'll never go wrong with Patsy, Dolly or Reba. Check out Loretta Lynn Coal Miners Daughter
This is my fav Patsy Cline song…. 😊a big fan of the walking bass line…
This Is live, no lip sync here!
I met Harlan Howard in Austin Texas in early 80s. Turns out . . . he was a real person.
My dad went to school with her. They are from the same town. My dad was a masonry contractor for her first husband Gerald Cline.
Good song good reaction
Dwight Yoakam - "Buenas Noches From A Lonely Room (She Wore Red Dresses)" [Live from Austin, TX]
Hank Cochran wrote this song for her. When he brought Willie Nelson over to play her Crazy for the first time he was too scared to get out of the car and Hank went in alone. She came outside and stomped her foot and said, "You come in here this instant Willie Nelson!" and delivered another hit.
Listen to sweet dreams the instrumentality work will drive you up a tree.
Her voice is amazing.
Such a distinctive wonderful voice.
Patsy Cline was KD Lang’s favourite. She’s mine too…..❤❤❤
Love Dolly and Reba but Patsy is the Queen of country music she laid the ground work for all that followed she is simply the best
If you haven't reacted to "Sweet Dreams" by Patsy- you definitely should!!
Crazy is her best song written by willy nelson.
I've never heard a female singer like Patsy Cline, she could make that voice just echo.
You definitely need to listen to Sweet Dreams next
See Etta James's performance of "I'd Rather Go Blind".
This is my favorite song of hers👍🏼🔥
She has a little yodel in her voice
That is such a sad song but really nice and true to Life.
Patsy, enough said.
Jim Reeves had a version of this as well. They both were very good in their own way.
Britt you can sing
Gone too soon. I wonder what she would have created. Sweet Dreams is my fav.
💙💙💙
Patsy is what was known as a "country crooner". And I could give you a whole lesson on what crooning is and how it came about. But I won't here. But know that there are "crooners", and there are country versions of crooners known as "country crooners". She even incorporates a slight and subtle country yodel in her delivery. And that's a whole nother can of tomaters.
Patsy was the girl with the beautiful voice. She died tragically!
Great reaction, Britt 🙂 Love from Norway ♥♥♥
If you get a chance, you might enjoy the movie, "Coal Miner's Daughter," the life story of Loretta Lynn. She and Patsy became best buds, and it broke Loretta to lose her.
Britt, you found the true queen of country /pop-----------thanks that was fun!
She was good, we lost her in a plane crash, L Lynne was her friend at 18 years old, it really hurt her when the plane went down. Country world is small...thank u.
🎼🎼🎼💛🔥💛🎼🎼🎼 ... you are certainly finding the good stuff Britt. This is just warm honey dipping into a hot cup of mint tea .. and then some ! 🔥🔥🔥
You need to listen to the studio recording of this
The studio version is much better!
I have watched you do two Patsy Songs and you have sung little bits and I think you could sing Patsy's songs. Give it a shot and let us know how it turned out.
Well. If Britt can love Patsy and call Reba and Dolly auntie then I can love Britt a bit too .. such a sweet, pretty young woman. :)
Hank Garland on lead guitar.
I cry listening to this... My goodness😭
