Imagine standing in the middle of an enormous crowd with backup singers and a full band you can only hear through earbuds and performing at this level at 8 years old. Her composure and confidence are from another world. This is the performance that David Foster called the most remarkable he had even seen from a child.

This is THE most accomplished performance by an 8yo EVER. She absolutely smashed it. Her timing is impeccable. Everything about it is perfect. A lot of fully grown professional singers would struggle to better this performance. I tear up every time I listen to it.

What a Difference a Day Makes, a 1934 Mexican song popularized by Dinah Washington in 1959 and resurrected by Angelina Jordan! To me it masterfully sung by Angelina at 8 years old and shows her pitch, her phrasing, and her understanding of how to use the right ornamentation and melodic nuances for this song. One of the best interpretations she has done, in my opinion.

It’s scary how much like Dinah she sounds here even to some of her intimations…. and yet AJ makes it her own.

This is one of my absolute favourites by Angelina: when her voice comes in ... instant goosebumps every single time ! :) And her incredible calm and poise singing there in the middle of a large crowd... amazing

This is an astounding performance for an 8 year old. That line “it’s heaven when yooooooooou, find romance on your menu” just could not be sung any better! The rasp, the vibrato, the phrasing.. A masterpiece.

Totally right on that timing! Even though I know the song and have heard it many times by different performers, I have trouble getting the timing right when I'm just tryin' to sing along! lol

The walls belong to Fredriksten festning, an old fortress. It's in Halden near the Swedish border, not in her hometown of Oslo, but Norwegian television taped his Alsang pa grensen sing-along festival there every midsummer. In 2014, Angelina performed there for the first time as part of the opening show on June 3, 2014 and has been doing it ever since, if possible, until last year. Recall that her win at Norske Talenter came on May 23 of the same year.

The sight of that little girl with flowers in her hair, little white dress and bare feet, looking like a little angel and with that powerful voice, had a huge impact on me and I immediately fell in love with her. And since then I have never stopped listening to it. Time has passed and she continues to surprise with each performance, her voice has changed and is becoming more and more beautiful. Angelinas family only allowed her to perform when school was on break for the summer. Most performances were in Norway where she lived.

She is just phenomenal, having the ability to put so much emotion into a song without have experienced anything like it in young life. She still does it to this day.

I love this and all of Angelina's songs. So blessed we are, I feel, to live in the same space of time and hear this angel sing. Yeah..the excellence of what Angelina does always overwhelms the incongruities (the lyrics vs her presence vs her age) present in nearly all of her early performances.

What a difference Angelina makes!

This was one month after her won Norway Got Talent. It is a TV show (a sing a long event with several artists, an annual event she has visited later) with the same station that holding Norway Got Talent. They put som extra efford into her performance.

This was the second Angelina song I ever listened to. I was so astounded, I kept showing it to different people

Her genre isn't very popular and she's not well known outside her circle. Check out Laura Bretan's audition for AGT when she was 13. Thanks for another great reaction to & appreciation of another amazing performance by Angelina - this time outdoors with back up singers - at age 8. I believe this was at one of the Norway outdoor summer music festivals at which many of the women & girls wear flowers in their hair. I highly recommend another young Angelina performance at this same venue - Something's Got A Hold On Me - at which she has a whole backup choir. Thank you. I love this culture, so nature oriented with outdoor community festivals and celebrating life with so many flowers. Yes, it does appear she grew up in this festival and I think it was about the same with her long awaited return last summer with her concert when she returned not as a child but a mature, elegant and classy young woman. I think some of her song choices were meant to establish that break from her being a child. Your mic is hot. Good reaction. Love these older ones too.

This performance by Angelina is in her 'Hall of Fame' library because this was as close to perfection as anything she has ever done. A lot of us have songs she's sung which are fantastic and will never be forgotten but 'What a Difference a Day Makes' is our all time FAVORITE video. It's just incredible.

This might be my favorite of her preteen performances. Some others may have more "wow" moments but this one is so perfectly done and the song itself is amazing. I always wonder what the band members and backup singers think when working with little Angelina. Do they have a sense of being part of history?

Britt another great reaction This song, of 1934, was originally written in Spanish and the English lyrics written in 1934 by Stanley Adams and played by Harry Roy's orchestra, the first recording was by Jimmy Ague and successfully recorded by the Dorsey Brothers in 1934. Dinah Washington won a Grammy for her recording in 1959 and it was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1998. Recommend reacting to her version, I think this where AJ got her inspiration from. Many critics say how can this little girl understand the song and present the emotion of the lyrics, but many pro vocalist say it's not just about the lyrics, it's the emotion of the music, you can listen to a song in a different language and feel the emotions without understanding the lyrics, they also point out that not even the pitch matters, it's the emotion of the music that matters, AJ feels the music and emulates the feeling the music is giving her and maybe relating it to something she has experienced and she gives us that feeling. Her 'vocal chameleon' ability to emulate the vocals of just about any artist she desires is on display here as she makes the listener think it's Dinah Washington singing her original recording of this song. It's the same story a year earlier when her rendition of 'Gloomy Sunday' sounded so much like Billie Holiday that people were beginning to say Billie was reincarnated in a 7 year old girl from Norway. Here, she's a year older, being 8 years of age.

Angelina nerds might appreciate that this is one of the very few (maybe 2 or 3?) performances where she bows at the end instead of curtsies.

When I was in the Marines in 1959 one of the guys had Dinah Washington's record and we would listen to it at night in the barrick's and not a peep was heard, Angelina's version was a re-incarnation of Dinah, boy does that bring back great memories of the past. I absolutely understand being mesmerized by Angelina Jordan; however, she's not the only amazing singer from the region. A Norwegian who doesn't seem to get the same publicity is Sissel. I believe she goes by the one name because the pronunciation of the letters in her last name are hard to relate to English. Anyway, she's been a national treasure in Norway for decades with her angelic soprano voice. Search for "Sissel o mio babbino caro" and get out the tear towel. I'm really enjoying your channel, esp. the Angelina Jordan reactions but, also others. Still, one little bitty insignificant thing I would like to point out that would make it even better. Please leave off "FIRST TIME REACTING TO |" on the title. It's always assumed in a reaction and consumes space that forces the rest of the title out of sight in many cases. Just sayin'.
