Alone on an island surrounded by thousands of people, she starts singing and goes into her magical land of infinite beauty and love, where she is alone with her music and shares it from her soul to ours through the use of her wizardly and beautifully crafted vocal chords! As Angelina has been growing up, her Grandma Mery made the brilliant decision to document her life with home videos, no matter the quality, and the world is so LUCKY to have them for eternity! They are such a pleasure to watch, from the littlest kid’s frustrations in not being able to hit a note, to hard work to get to that note, to singing in and winning a contest at 7-8 years old, to traveling the world her whole life, becoming a humanitarian at age 6 when she gave away her shoes and subsequently raising over 20 million dollars for charities by age 16, and well I could go on and on, but I won’t. Believe it or not, there are people who don’t like this CHILD, but you have to remember, these are probably also the people who don’t like PUPPIES! Hope you’re having a great Thanksgiving!

Angelina is basing her vocals on the Dinah Washington hit from the late 50’s, but I’m familiar enough with the original to see when Angelina decides to do something different. Even at 8, she was creatively adding something of her own style. As amazing as her vocals are, her timing is absolutely perfect. This live performance by an 8 year old in front of thousands is unbelievable.

In one of her early interviews, Angelina tells us that when she sings, she goes into another world which she finds to be so beautiful. In this particular song, she sways her body, closes her eyes and almost looks like she is going to sleep. Forget about her being nervous in front of so big a crowd, away from the back-up singers and band, all alone on that small stage, she sways back and forth and transports herself into this magical world yet delivers such a professional performance. A true innocent with such a gift to us all!!!

I listen to the 1959 recording of this song by Dinah Washington but can not decide who I like best, so I listen to both often. Angelina has written her own arrangements of the songs she sings. I have to assume at least she plays the piano as it is the base instrument in any band. She also is not about herself, she sings barefoot for a reason after meeting a girl without shoes!! That is really awesome character!!

---- As 8-year old, Angelina sung the Dinah Washington classic What A Difference A Day Makes on TV 2 singalong show Allsang På Grensen held outdoors at Fredriksten Fortress in Halden, Norway on Thursday June 3, 2014 ---- Besides Angelina's voice, what makes this song so impressive is her timing and presentation of the song belie her age...one just cannot believe someone so young could sing like this ---- This video is quite famous because of false postings that occurred on Facebook that misstated that Angelina was Amy Winehouse at 10-years old ---- Even with posting corrections and fact-checking site Snopes debunking it, the incorrectly captioned video got over 30 million Facebook views and gave a tremendous search boost to Angelina to help establish her name to people outside of Norway, Sweden and Denmark, the primary areas that TV 2 was broadcast ---- Also when 8-years old, Angelina was on the Senkveld Show (a 750,000 viewer Friday "Late Night Show" broadcast on TV 2) where she sung Fly Me To The Moon after being interviewed...this video of the performance has subtitles and we find out that when Angelina went back to school after her 2014 Norway's Got Talent first performance (that itself had gotten over 5 million KZread views), she ran out of pens and got tired signing autographs for her classmates: kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZYScj9Won5rQnNY.html ---- The last big performance by an 8-year old Angelina was when she flew to the US and sung Fly Me To The Moon on the show The View with its 3+ million viewers...before singing Angelina is interviewed by Rosie O'Donnell and mentions that she started singing jazz when 18 months old: kzread.info/dash/bejne/oHZ7r7Nye9ufmaw.html

All of Angelina's performances are 'top notch' but this one goes to the next level. Many 'angels' (including myself) regard this video as our favorite and I believe you can understand why. It is so easy to get lost in the song and become mesmerized by her. The poise and confidence she exhibits is off the charts and, overall, this video is a classic never to be forgotten. I enjoy your reactions very much. You breakdown what is going on for us and, at the same time, you are totally enjoying Angelina. What was fun watching and listening to you reacting to this classic was after listening to only ONE NOTE you had to pause to regain your composure. And, at the end, you forgot what you wanted to say. 🙂 That's what she does. Yes, she was 8 years old when she sang this but we all know there's 75-80 years of music inside of her just waiting to come out and she is singlehandedly responsible for bringing the beautiful music of yesteryear to today's generation. In the years to come we will hear plenty of Angelina's original recordings and what a treat that will be. BUT, every Concert she put's together there should be no doubt she will mix in some of the standards from many years ago that she brought back to life for all of us to enjoy.

I am so glad you got to this. My absolute favorite at this age and will always be at the top of my list. I gave a $5 dollar donation and asked for it but then tried to edit the request and it got deleted. So glad you got to it anyway. You may not see this since I got to it late but I hope you do. You may not remember but I was the one that insisted you start this journey and I was so happy you did. Below is the comment I use when I request it. My favorite song of all time. ♥👣 This is to me the most beautiful rendition of this song and to me THE most beautiful performance I have ever witnessed. “When I sing I go to another world. The world is endless. It's like, full of happiness. I love it. It's amazing. And when I am on stage, I don't want to go [leave the stage]. [laughing]. I just want to be on stage" A snippet of Skaylan’s interview of Angelina Jordan (age 12) on Norwegian TV - November 2018 ♥👣 Never have I seen Angelina go so deeply into this world as she does here. She is just immediately in it and I from the first note and I am there with her! If you could only listen to one Artist for the rest of your life who would it be? One song for the rest of your life, what would it be? That would be Angelina for me. No Doubt about it! ♥👣 If you only had one song. This would be it! ♥👣 Welcome to the wonderful world of the Barefoot Princess, soon to be Queen, of Angelina. My Favorite at this age. Absolutely beautiful. It sounds so much like the way Dinah Washington sang it that it's not easy to tell them apart. This Mashup with Dinah will convince you of this kzread.info/dash/bejne/dIFsmbSygbS9k7Q.html Absolutely astounding. Here's another good one at the same festivale about a year or 2 after this one. For those of you who don't believe in angels I offer up "Angel"lina Jordon as proof. I think the backing singers where amazing and held back because they knew it was about framing Angelina's vocals. I have watched this video numerous times and I noticed the opening riff by the backup singers but then was immediately focused on Angelina's vocals but this time I was keeping my ear open to the backing vocals. Not only are they really well done but more importantly Angelina is synching up with them really well. Any small bobble on the part of either and things could go off the rails quickly. And another thing that I'm struck by every time I listen to this performance is how free it is of any tension. I like to say her singing is so soft it's like a child petting a kitten. It would be so easy for a young performer to rush a little or sound tight on a song like this that has a really slow tempo. Ray Charles used to say that most musicians he played with could do up tempo stuff but would get lost when he did very slow tempo numbers. They would "loose" the beat. This is just one amazing performance. It's like we're listening to an 8 year old Dinah Washington.

This performance reinforced the belief of old jazz singers being reincarnated in this girl At 7 she sounded exactly like Billie Holiday in her performance of Gloomy Sunday, and then at 8 she sounds right here so much like Dinah Washington it's astounding. After this song I labeled her a 'vocal chameleon', able to emulate the vocals of other singers much in a similar way that the chameleon lizard can change its outer colors to match its surroundings instantaneously.

This event was called "Allsang På Grensen" (English: "Sing Along at the Border") and was organized by the Norwegian television TV2 (in 2022 for the last time) as a yearly summer event at this beautiful site close to the border with Sweden. Angelina participated in this event multiple times with the following songs: 1. What a Difference a Day Makes (at age 8, June of 2014 -> kzread.info/dash/bejne/jIeayaWCd8edm5c.html) 2. Feeling Good (at age 10, June 2016 -> kzread.info/dash/bejne/aXyVr9ikls-ocdI.html) 3. Something's Got A Hold On Me (at age 11, July 2017 -> kzread.info/dash/bejne/hneXlrujosyZoMY.html) 4. It's Now Or Never (at age 11, July 2017 -> kzread.info/dash/bejne/mqCdk8ium5vggbQ.html) 5. Bohemian Rhapsody (at age 16, June 2022 -> kzread.info/dash/bejne/hqWB09t6mZDIo8Y.html) 6. I Have Nothing (at age 16, June 2022 -> kzread.info/dash/bejne/c6Woq7iSds3HoLQ.html)

BEL, you are correct, it was about a month after winning AGT 2014. Norwegians told me, yes there were more than I few, that Angelina Jordan Astar was declared THE NATIONAL TREASURE OF NORWAY. That is a bit like being ennobled in England. In Norway and throughout Scandinavia it was, and still is, a great honor to work with her. I am still impressed of how humble she still is. You my friend, stay safe, healthy and happy. Elmar from Germany.

This was performed at the annual music festival in Norway. Her most recent live performances were at this same festival. She was fresh from winning NGT and went on to perform in many venues around the world. Her performance on The View in the US was likely within a month or two of this one.

This was Angelinas first TV performance after Norways Got Talent. This is a annual sing along event by the border to Sweden (at Halden fortress). It is a TV show run by the same TV channel that holding Norways got talent. The show is not made for Angelina. She was only one of several artists, but they added som extra resoursers to her performance to make it special - and historic.

A few remarks, the first one is that the interpretation that Angelina Jordan gives here of this song is simply magnificent ; then that one should not forget that english is not her mother tongue as one can see at the beginning of this video ; finally that, as several commentators pointed out, there is something incredible to hear her speak with her voice of a little girl of eight years old, then, as if transformed into another person, as soon as she starts to sing.

This is a regular summer concert in Norway called Allsang pa Grensen, which means something like, Singalong at the Border. What a stunning addition to the regular fare this must have been for the audience! Thank you for focusing on the "Lord" articulation. I always noticed it without noticing it (if you see what I mean), but now I see how great that is. In fact, every syllable she sings is worth paying attention to. It's as if she has a plan for each one (and I expect she has!)
