    Going well. Using a fire blanket is a great idea and much cheaper than the real thing. I will keep that one in mind. Jeff

    Great work! Bet you can see the proverbial light at the end of the tunnel. Good tip about using fire blankets. I've had to use one on the Rover project while grinding/welding as front and rear screens are bonded in and helping keep the shell rigid.

    Thanks, yes I was looking for something and just remembered I had a fire blanket stored away. Worked well. Yes it's certainly been one hell of a marathon, looking forward to finishing it now. Cheers

    Looks good mate! A lot of details to work out even the most simple of parts - I'm surprised they didn't drill some of those holes in the replacement part. Great to see you well and truly in the deep end with some future builds in the wings too ;-)

    I have to replace the cowl on my one Tonner, so thanks for the little ah ha moment regarding the dog pissers. It makes sense that they’d be angled to the middle third of the windscreen so the wiper blades get to move the water across a larger to clean better. 👍 Cheers.

    Hi Barnsey, have a look at your auto store, they now do zinc primer in black. Means you won't see the zinc grey when you look through the gaps. Build is coming along great, keep up the good work.

    Yeah thanks mate, all good though I'm painting it all in primer anyway and you can't see any zinc inside. Cheers!

    Barnsey. You can always weld a small lip on The top edge of the door to get the gaps right. I drill the welding Holes a bit bigger so I can get more strike with the weld. Also coat the part I'm welding to as normal then used a small brush on the drill to remove paint, sealer etc just in the hole. Got them cheap on eBay. Works well. Sorry, think of these things as I watch, too late🙂 under the spray nozzles put a dab of sealer under them as you pop in for the final time. Remember Your paint will take up another mm or bit less....

    Yeah i did think about doing the wire on the door edges but honestly it doesn't really worry me, if it doesn't look great when guards are on then i will re-assess but for now i'm just happy to get it on. Will use the sealer on the nozzle trick though! cheers

    Don't have a windscreen as yet so had to take a punt it will fit. There's a bit of play for fitment on the cowl for the windscreen so should be alright.

    Lookin like a Ute now dude! Just a heads up the black coating on replacement panels is to be removed before body work - it’s only purpose is to stop surface rust in storage and not intended to be the basis for duco. Might see some of that Sick colour soon !,

  • @BarnesysBuilds

    @BarnesysBuilds

    2 жыл бұрын

    Cheers mate, yeah it is still an epoxy coating however so a good scuff up is fine, I've done it before on other panels. I might do a layer of epoxy anyway before primer.

    Why are you doing the cowl so late in the build when you have to do all that grinding don’t get it , any way

  • @BarnesysBuilds

    @BarnesysBuilds

    It's a structural piece of the body so needs to be off rotisserie and on the body to make sure everything is aligned correctly. Bodies can sag on rotisseries, especially if they have been hanging for years, like mine was. In hindsight now that it is welded on could you weld it on while still on rotisserie? Maybe, I don't know, but being a first build you have to decide on courses of action to get the job done and in this instance i chose this method. It created more work for sure, but not that much more, and it's all done now, and I know it's aligned. Cheers mate

    There were two small straight pieces with a hole at each end in my cowl box, any idea what they are for or do? Can’t see where they are meant to go unless it wasn’t meant to be in there.
