Love Perrows paint. Good old fashion paint store. Kenny has alot of knowledge and plenty of stock hidden out the back. If he doesn’t have it he will find it or have a solution out in the store room. All the best barnsy !

Certainly is a small store that packs a punch
Good work mate…
I sure would like to have a Ute here in the US. See plenty of El Caminos and a few Rancheros redone around these parts. That is going to be a nice car!

El Camino is the closet to the WB for sure but still quite a bit different. I don't think I've seen an older style Holden Ute in America, I'm sure there would be one out there!
Id spray some fish oil in that support. And camshaft choice should tell you what torque converter to use.

Yes I have a can of fish oil mix to spray in there. Cheers
Great job on your support panel. I especially love your creative thinking with your paint stand!! Great idea. Not far off now, cant wait to see the dyno results and the final stages of the build. Keep on keeping us all inspired. Great job

G’day mate, being watching since episode one as I’m doing a wb ute myself (1981) I’ve only had it around 10 months and it all takes time, I’m so keen on what and how you’re doing yours as I a novice myself although very mechanical minded bodywork is totally new. I had about the same amount of rust as yours except my plenum and cowl are fine thankgod as it looks a big job. You’re doing a fantastic job by the way but I have one question when you were putting filler on did I see that you were putting it over primer????? I have been told by several people from suppliers to panel beaters remove all paint and primer back to bare metal first!! Have you heard this as they said it will cause issues later on. Love ya work! Cheers Ricky

Thanks mate, yeah definitely a long old haul to get it done, it could be a lot faster obviously but life, knowledge and time money are all road blocks you have to manage. Yes there are two methods on body filler application, some put over bare metal and some over epoxy primer. As filler is porous it can soak up moisture from metal so I like to have a complete seal over that with epoxy then apply the filler over that layer. Only thing is you must scuff up the epoxy layer with 80 grit first to make sure what your talking about doesn't happen and it delaminates later down the track. I've tested it with a hammer and the filler is hard as nails on the epoxy. Cheers mate
Nice one mate. I was kicking myself, talking to a mate a work. Bought a couple of rusty Tonners 2 years ago and he offered me a Th350 that wasnt great. Didn't take it.......... I like clutches.😆....... Whoops. 😂😯... Anyways, love your work.

Yeah I like manual gears as well to be honest but was sticking to the th350 as it was already in there and I thought a T5 would be too expensive probably work out to be the same, but this th350 will be solid as a rock.

@@BarnesysBuilds . Sweet mate. You're doing it. And bloody good onya. I've hedged my bets with a bare T5 and a Supra with a CRS bellhouing. Budget build.😂.. Sell the scraps when I get some bits etc.
Awesome mate, loving this build.

Yeah I waited 10 weeks for my box from Paul. He had to source the case as well. But its worth the wait. His a top bloke wouldn't be surprised if he does it sooner for ya

Great job mate, can't wait to see that motor on the dyno! That Evercoat Rage filler is what I use all the time. It's good stuff. Almost there man, so close you can almost taste it...😜😜

Cheer mate, yeah same, should sound the goods! That's good to hear about the evercoat as I have to patch the doors and guards again from the gapping process so will be going over the 3M from previous. Yeah I feel most of the hard work is almost over now. Just these final body panels to paint...

hi I used a Hughes TH400 ,auto shift std pattern , HD sprag 2500$ no convertor . Way way cheaper vs a Th350 which require more $$/ parts per Hp. No core charge .
@BarnesysBuilds
Жыл бұрын
I already had the transmission so a swap over is the same as a reburbishment on the TH350
@paulthompson1654
Жыл бұрын
@@BarnesysBuilds TH350 use less hp but cost more for the same hp as TH400 . Where lucky a 4L60E [ 4spd ] upgrade almost involves every part and a conversion will double cost of the convertor and require electronics to do the shift 7000---8000$ minimum . . A GM 4L75E [new] is the best option as the aftermarket rebuilders in ozzy parts are from the Usa anyways . Unfortunately poorly done in ozzy . Its what I found out when looking for an auto option .
@BarnesysBuilds

@@paulthompson1654 this whole process is a learning curve, however one thing I do know from my research is that the TH350 is a strong gearbox and more than enough for the power once it's refurbished. I could've put a variety of boxes in but after going for a spin in my mates Torana with a 355 with a TH350 I was amazed at how good the gearbox was under full power.

Hi aaron just wondering did you spray etch primer after the welding you just did? Beforr the body filler was put on?
@BarnesysBuilds
Жыл бұрын
I did etch it after the welding just to seal it up as it sat for a few days before I got to filler. Then I just wiped it off with thinners quickly and applied filler on the bare metal. Then primed over the filler with 2k high build to feather it all out before rust seal layer.
