They’re all about freedom and individualism. They want to discover all there is to discover. These brands are ambitious and they often keep their fans engaged by announcing new initiatives, programs or plans.

    I have mixed feeling because I feel I’m the explorer archetype but at the same time I strongly aligned with the creator and the sage. How can mix these in my personal brand ?

    You can mail archetypes but should do so with great case as your message may become jumbled, confusing and conflicted. Focus on your primary archetype and only mix very small percentages of others. If you feel that two archetypes have equal weight and would form 30% each of your persona then it would lead to trouble. A mix such as 90% + 5% + 5% would serve you well. Sometimes, you do not need to include an archetype in the mix even if you feel some of the attributes align with you. You can simply weave those messages into your communication and story as and when required with out having to craft your entire brand persona with a mix. - Mash

    Great video very helpful indeed! As a dating app startup we are looking to make digital market place for dates, meaning that users will match for real dates setup by the users themselves. If you have a great idea for a fun and active date, post it and let other users match your idea. For this concept I'm currently trying to identify the brand archetype or types.. I find that the users ultimate goals belong to the Lover archetype but the single person who is about to go out on a date is connected to the Explorer archetype. Do you See something that I don't or do you have any comments for this strategy?

    Jan, thanks for reaching out. To be perfectly honest it is impossible to advice on the right archetypes with out analysing the audience archetypes that are accurate then determining the best brand archetype(s) that would align with the audience. Align here does not mean they have to agree most of the time. You could have a brand archetype that is opposite of the audience arch IF your main strategy is to create an impact - a jolt and attract attention. But great care has to be taken in choosing archetypes since that will determine your entire messaging strategy and how well you audience respond to it and ultimately the success of your marketing campaigns. So, to cut the long story short, I can advice on the technical aspects of archetypes or other brand strategies but can not give specific advice on your particular situation. - Mash

    I'm considering Creator with a bit of caregiver or explorer (interior design personal brand). As a stay at home mom I feel I relate to caregiver more, and it may be more natural to me. But I fear it'll come off as too feminine. My target audience is more explorer (millenial) and I gravitate more towards that in my own lifestyle and philosophy towards my work. What would you suggest?

    Hi Tessa, I can not give any specific advice since I do not know the depth of the audience persona etc but if you feel you are a caregiver persona then go with it. It does not matter if it comes off as too feminine. You can always tweak you message to reduce that part. But you would be better off being the archetype that you feel instinctively. - Mash

    Dear Sir! I have a question for you: It seems as if the buyer persona should correspond with the brand persona because both were, f ex outlaws. In practice, as a customer, seeking to cross the line, behaviorally and culturally, he's attracted to the brand persona performing as the Outlaw. On the other hand, it seems as if the hero archetype buyer persona would need guidance from ex the sage archetype, which is different from the hero. So, which is it? Should the brand persona be the same as the buyer persona, or not?

    Great question Peter! Your brand persona does not necessarily be aligned with your buyer persona. Depending on the market segment and the kind of buyer persona, you will have to choose the brand persona that best aligns with the worldview of the customer. In some markets, the audience may be Outlaws but your product or service may appeal to them if your brand is an Innocent or Sage etc. So there is no hard and fast rule. Same for the hero persona, it is not always that they will be attracted to the Sage. These should not be assigned in a vacuum. The decision should be based on a lot of factors.
