Deputy Dies Chasing Dodge Charger | LAKEWOOD CA 2.25.21

LAKEWOOD, CALIFORNIA - A Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department motor deputy who was killed in a crash in the Lakewood area Thursday morning has been identified as a 41-year-old husband, father and Marine veteran.
The fatal collision occurred shortly before 9 a.m. as Deputy Thomas Albanese was chasing a gray Dodge Charger before crashing with a Mercedes Benz. The driver that crashed with the deputy stayed at the scene and was checked out by paramedics.
A local man working in the area grabbed a blanket to cover the deputy when he noticed people taking pictures and video with their phones.

So sad to see. I was a motorcycle cop (in Ireland) for about 10 years. In our training we were told to by all means pursue vehicles but to stay well back as the tactic by the offender was to brake suddenly causing the cop bike to run into the back of the car or to loose control trying to avoid it. My condolences to the mans family.
