My dad was hit by a drunk driver when I was young which put him in a coma and suffered life long brain injury / depression and ultimately caused his suicide. I also know someone who killed someone because he was driving drunk. Do not drink and drive people.

They have PTSD, too. My husband was a paramedic. He didn't comment on much but he did say it was hard when a mother had a stillborn and was asking why the baby wasn't crying. But the worst were young children. If you don't do it it's easy not to appreciate how hard it is on their peace of mind.

@@gabrielgalaxygh ... That's true but what is desensitized? Is it you don't feel it at all or you get better at repressing it? I wondered why I didn't respond with emotion the first patient I watched die, or the second, third. Here I am 40 years later and I remember every detail. Watch the documentaries interviews from WWII. A lot of them get choked up. In Saving Private Ryan the story is built around visiting a particular grave in an American cemetary in Europe, questioning if he he'd done the right thing all those years ago.

I thought about this the other Friday night driving on the 405. Imagine how many people are in LA, then imagine the 405 and how many people are actually driving drunk or buzzed right next to you, we live in a scary world. People need to set $20-50 aside in there wallet for a fucking cab. We work hard and we deserve to have a couple drinks ere and there but if you can afford drinks but not a cab you shouldn't be going out on the first place. R.I.P.

+Griffin Kay It's really tough on how to properly educate people on the dangers of such behavior. You can show people the worst of the worst outcomes, but that isn't going to effect everyone. As humans, we tend to think that the worst of the worst only happens to someone else, not ME. It's really just the way things are. It SUCKS, but it just IS.

Everyone should see the realistic videos instead of the clips they show on the news... Let's face it people everyone in one way or another is desensitized to this ... But if we can instill in are family's this isn't necessary it can be prevented again it would be so much better... And yes I'm talking to you drivers parents and know it all about your road rage, speeding, buzzed "I've been driving longer than you been alive" ney Sayers! Yep ! Stop being like that! Do you remember when going on a ride somewhere with the folks with your brother and sisters? We were safe, were bored... But we were alive and happy cause no one was in a hurry ! Slow down... Or life could get short🕊🙏🏻😎

It’s not difficult at all actually. Accidents will happen unfortunately, you can’t avoid human error we are not robots people make mistakes and stupid decisions, you will not change or stop car accidents from happening end of story don’t waste your time.

Police are extra protective of the scene when there are fatalities and will not allow close up pictures of the scene in respect of the next of kin/relatives. So that the police themselves can bring the news of their relatives passing. That said your channel provides amazing insight into the absolutley heroic work that EMTs do every single day.

Probably both should be taken into account. Which is more of a concern? The fact this person had no regard for human life? Or the fact they have a disease? We all pick our vices. These cases are always difficult, the firemen and police are used to it but they NEVER become inured to it, just tolerant. We get them in the ER and fight like crazy to pump blood into them, give them pain meds if they are conscious, but often, if a person is critically injured, life-saving procedures come first and we worry about fixing fractured bones later IF they are still alive. Internal bleeding is always a top concern in a crash and may require going into surgery immediately to find the bleeding and stop it (such as a ruptured spleen or a severed blood vessel) and we do all we can and sometimes we lose them in spite of our rapid response and quick action. And that makes US have a bad day also. But you cannot dwell on it, because there is other work to be done, and keeping busy helps. But we hate it when people die, it is hard on everyone involved from first responders to emergency personnel to families.

I don’t understand why the people that are driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs are rarely injured. They make that decision to get behind the wheel, even though they have drank or used, and when they crash into another vehicle they rarely have more than scrapes or bruises. Why is that? Can anyone tell me? I was in jail once with a woman in there fighting her case. She was driving while intoxicated with alcohol, also under the influence of several drugs, and killed a mother and small child. She was taking her case to trial because she didn’t think she should go to jail. At all. Do you know how much time she got for killing a young mother and baby still in diapers? She got one year county time. At the farm. The farm is a kind of jail for people that don’t have violent crimes and they’re not on parole. They stay in trailors and work on a farm during the week. Or they get to sew, or take classes. She literally murdered 2 people. Oh yeah, she also had prior DUI’s, but that didn’t matter, obviously.
