I hated it the first time I heard it but the context I think is why she made the line so out there and “gross” because she’s talking about how small girls are sexualizrd and romanticized

I think the Arctic monkeys' line is from a poem by John Cooper Clarke

the “i just want to tell you so you know” line could just mean that they didn’t want or expect any reaction from the other person. Like “you don’t have to do anything w this information, just wanted you to know it”

@@sadwasdead5065 Imo Lane Boy has some of Tyler's best lyrics. It doesn't need to be all metaphorical and artsy to be good. I think that, considering the context of the song (people in the music business trying to make the band stick to a genre or style - stay in their lane), the honest, straightforward lyrics are a great way of communicating directly to the listener about how dumb of a move that would be. God tier song imo, especially structurally

2013 had some slappers. It was one of the last years of the EDM chorus/drop structure dominating charts. It was like a final wind before the death rattle of the mid 2010s. Pop picked back up for me, but it was definitely in limbo for a while trying to figure out what the new 'sound' was gonna be

Good Day is a great song btw, the SAI album itself takes the term 'concept album' to another level. Usually, TOP albums start off with a chaotic, angsty, suicidal song, and nobody EVER expected them to kick off an album by saying 'I think that I'm alright, it's a good day'. What makes this SO COOL is that the entire point of Tyler saying that is because Tyler would NEVER say that - something feels a little off. Then later on in the album, you start feeling that this isn't exactly TOP that you're listening to; why is this album so happy? where's the depressing lyrics? where's the screams? why the FUNK did they make a FUNK song? Aren't they emo screamo ukulele electropop sadbois? And then Redecorate plays - and it all makes sense.
