Thank you so much Bob. I am fueled by encouragement and results rather than profit. It also helps that I find this area both so very important as well as intensely interesting. Sean

Just found your channel today -- I had cov in Jan 2020 and Jan 2021; in Jan 2020 I lost my taste and smell and they have still not totally returned, but my smell is better than my taste. I can still only taste some spices, vinegar, lemon, sweet, and sour. Soo annoying!!!! Looking forward to trying your recommendations!

Thank you Dr Omara! I lost my sense of taste and smell last year following a bout of Covid, which was relatively mild. I discovered the loss when I found I could not smell or taste my coffee. I actually worked with a lemon and coffee- trying each day to smell and taste the items. I had no idea that I was doing therapy- I was just testing each day to determine if my senses returned. They did return in full after a few weeks. At the time I was also following a carnivore diet, exercising and walking outside several times a day. Again, I just happened to be doing these activities, not realizing that they were also therapy! All the info you provide has been so helpful and encouraging.

Dr. Sean thank you for this video and addressing this issue. I agree with you recommendations but would like to challenge what you said about smelling things to a degree. No smell or taste is a good thing at this point!! What about smells and taste that were enjoyable 6 months ago are now DISGUSTING! For example coffee smells terrible and I can't even describe the smell because it's a smell I've never smelled before. The only thing is is that it is offensive. And this is true for many other things like perfumes ,bananas, rice, breads, oreos, roasted chicken, nuts especially peanut butter. So the question is if I start smelling things like coffee which I loved now smells terrible would that not like practicing a BAD HABIT and encoding the new smell of coffee in an incorrect way. I possible could build up an aversion to coffee. Would love to discuss this more with you from a scientific POV because it really is quite interesting although sad and frustrating as well.

Back in march 2021 I got covid and about a week later my smell returned and improved to about 30% but then has plateaued ever since. Is this a more common sign of olfactory nerve damage? I have been smell training but I will try your method of smell training this week, thanks

Back in December I lost my taste and smell completely. While searching for possible reasons I saw that it was a symptom of covid, I then ended up coming back positive. Once my taste and smell came back it hasn’t been the same. I smell and taste this really weird oniony flavor all the time.

For sure still try these tings. Endeavor to use multiple senses in the process of trying to smell and taste. Cut a lemons, look at the flesh, imagine the correct flavor and smell, feel it, squeeze it, taste it. Hopefully you can restore more accurate taste and smell sensory capability. It is no an uncommon experience people report this alteration. Key is getting your neurological pathways recovered using neuroplasticity & optimized health. My very best to you in this effort!
