Hey Dr Sean! I'm a 39 year old mom of 5, ages 1-11. I've struggled with weight since I was 12 and baby making hasn't helped as it's also caused back issues. When I was pregnant with my last baby I threw my back out so bad I couldn't walk for a month. BUT I've switched over to carnivore, 5 months now, down 40lbs and started sprinting 3 weeks ago. My goal is 3 days a week for the one month, do my measurements and decide if I should do more. I feel better and, even though I still have at least 30lbs to loose, I didn't hurt my knees or or any other body parts lol So thank for the info and the cheerful way you share it I'll keep at it and hope it heals this mommy body.

I would be interested in seeing somebody like Paul Saladinos MRI… he eats animal based but adds quite a bit of carbs from fruit and honey. I don’t see how quality carb sources could be contributing to visceral fat.

@@MachineGunPepe What data does he ignore? In his grant from the National Science Foundation, he reviewed 6,000 MRI’s of people’s abdomens. He could visualize their visceral fat on these MRIs. And he found that vegans had the worst visceral fat and carnivores had the least. And sprinters had less visceral fat than distance runners. Hardly anyone argues that MRIs don’t show visceral fat. And he was able to show that diet and the type of exercise made significant changes in visceral fat in a short period of time. That pretty well demonstrates causation. Whether his recommendation regarding things like ferments and a few other things have benefits, that to me seems questionable. But eating meat and sprinting does not. Those are his two big things.

I’ve never dreamed of going carnivore but that’s what I’m convinced to try now. I’ve been doing pretty good physically most of my life but I know drinking has influenced some visceral fat to creep into my anbdomen. Adding in sprinting and hitting a heavy bag. Nature has planted in my brain stem a deep desire to remain sexually relevant, at least to a moderate degree, as I age 🤷‍♂️

Dr. Sean is right on the fact that people get motivated when they “see” what’s going on inside their bodies. But since nobody can afford MRIs on a regular basis, trust the symptoms. If the belly is there, that’s enough motivation to cut the carbs, and the inflammatory oils. One should try being on meat and animal fats as long as they start seeing results. And the weight lifting and sprinting too. If you see results, then no need to spend money on MRIs.

Doc, I started Carnivore on January 1, 2024. Starting weight 290lbs………First I figured out what is my Basel metabolic rate for my ideal weight…to make sure my food portions were correct. I’ve been eating is Ribeye,Bacon ,ground burger, eggs and Salt for seasoning. First month, I ate two meals a day with a three hour eating window… I’ve been lifting weight, and wind sprints. I’m not working out like crazy. First month I lost 22lbs…. Second month I incorporated OMAD and Rolling 48hr fasts. I lost 12lbs. The third month I incorporated the Mojo meter to track my ketones and Glucose levels. March 20, I’ve lost I’ve lost 10 lbs with 10 more days of the month left….My goal weight is 185lbs, which is the weight, I was when I graduated Basis Training, 24 years ago….The hardest thing for me was the carb addiction and sugar addiction. Which only lasted about a week. My emotional connection with food has changed…. Now food is Medicine…..I will start to add fermented food in my diet but small amounts to see how many body reacts…. Five Stages of Carnivore 1. Make the Decision to start… 2.Adaptations Phase 3.Notice benefits, weight loss is one aspect. 4. Depletions of your stored Fat…. 5. Maintenance…. My wife has been on carnivore as well with great results. She went through a priming stage of eating for about a month. To help regulate her hormones…. If you’re interested about priming on carnivore look it up on utube. Today is the Day to get Healthy and you can’t out run a bad diet! If you mess up with your eating Don’t beat yourself up ,just regroup and start over… Thank you Dr. Omara for sharing all of your knowledge. You’re such brilliant motivating individual.

I watch the trends - drive visceral fat down (my number is 4 - 5), drive my muscle mass and bone mass up. I do a combo of weight training, calisthenics and sprinting (running, biking and rowing). Most importantly I eat well - not perfect..... No highly processed foods, lots of ferments, grass-fed, grass finished beef, free-rang chicken, line caught fish. Have you ever done a presentation on insulin resistance, visceral fat, and heart attacks? Here's why. I had a heart attack 3 years ago, and the cardiologist was baffled as to how I had the blockage I did in my arteries. Cholesterol numbers were above normal, but not bad, triglycerides were moderately elevated, I wasn't considered overweight, and I was active. The one thing he DIDN'T check in the blood tests was insulin resistance. That was picked up by my family doctor 1.5 years after the heart attack. It was about 6 moths ago that I ran into your channel. That was the final piece that was missing. Couldn't afford the scan. However. Checked measurable subQ abdominal fat and it was low, yet still had a "dad bod" abdomen. Had the hint of a six pack even with the bulging abdomen. Was active and exercising regularly. Blood test showed prediabetic level insulin resistance. Cut out carbs, and went to at least 12 hours between breakfast and dinner. Lost 3-1/2 inches in my waist. Had not changed the amount of exercising the whole time. Stomach went flat with the same hint of a six pack and the same measurable subQ fat. Insulin resistance is gone. Not as good as a scan, but all of these measurable data points point to losing visceral fat. For someone that starts obese, this would not work. But I was externally lean with good muscle definition when I started (like the runner you mentioned).

Question to any sprinter. If I split up my sprints to 3 sets of 3 intervals over a day be just as beneficial as doing sprints 1x9, basically doing all my sprint intervals in one session. I find i can generate more power for 3x3 then 1x9 as the last 3 intervals in the 9 are sub par. So in one day and I do 3 sessions of FULL power for 3 intervals, after a month, would the results be better splitting them up over the day, or would they be better doing them all in one session on that day. The reason I ask is I'm over 60 and recently getting benefit during my weight training sessions of a 3 minute rest instead of a 1+ minute rest in between sets, allowing me to Generate more power for each set. I'm just wondering if this would apply to sprinting??

I was packed with visceral fat 3 years ago. I didn't look very fat but I was metabolically sick with high triglycerides, high blood pressure, fatty liver etc. I cut the sugar drinks and went ketovore on an 18:6 IF schedule and lost 52 pounds. It has made a tremendous difference in my health. My only mistake was choosing David Goggins as my motivational coach. Nothing like taking an ass chewing out every day about how I need to get off the couch and exercise or I'm a pathetic POS.🤣

Why don’t you show some Mom bods? I’m tired of looking of bods that don’t have the features of mine! What happens to the female organs and dainty little kidneys when they are being squeezed and smothered by visceral fat? From past DXA scans, I know I have 8+ lb of visceral fat. Even when I would gain muscle and lose fat, the visceral fat scarcely budged. Please show us some females! I’m 73 and have worked my way up over about 6-7 years from yoga to pilates to weights, but I can’t sprint yet-a couple of months ago I could only walk 1/3 mile! I’m up to 1 mile in 25 minutes, with a little intermittent jogging in last 5 minutes, going between 3 mh and 3.3 mph. That’s my “sprint” (I’m 5’2”). Does that count? How fast do I have to go to call it a sprint? More importantly, how fast do I have to go to burn the visceral fat? My German forbears (female German, Scots-Irish and French males-but the German ladies cooked-) thought a fat baby was a healthy baby and stuffed me like a goose. Diagnosed as “obese” at 12 months, I couldn’t even walk until 14 months. My doctor put me on a “diet” and except for that one photo, I was not a fat child, unless you noticed a slight pot belly. Pancakes and waffles (with Karo dark corn syrup), French toast and cereal, cookies and coffee cake; Halloween candy, Valentine candy, Easter baskets, Black Cows with extra Root beer (but hardly any soda apart from that). I could go on, but you get the gist. I always wondered why, after menarche, I always had a tummy. Because I wasn’t fat. At 12 I was 112, at 14, 114, at 18, 118; at marriage (24), 124! I wasn’t fat! I wore a size 8 wedding dress. I did not undergo fad diets, except for one: in my thirties, annoyed at being size 12, I tried the Hollywood diet (lots of fruit). It actually worked but was not sustainable due to a lack of protein. I developed an aversion to pineapple! So I devoted myself to my marriage, my job, my singing, and my pets. Every so often, I would take a dance class or badminton, for fitness. But for several years my publishing job consumed too many hours. After my company was bought out by a competitor and destroyed, I had only a little time to rest before I was called upon for eldercare, for my mother-in-law (twice), my mother, and my voice teacher. That went on 2002-2019 and my figure was my last concern. Finally, in our sixties, my husband and I turned our attention to our health, and joined a health club. He lost weight through his own self-discipline and portion control. I lost maybe 12-14 lb (down from 188) but (after a disastrous experience with semaglutide) had been stuck at 173 + 4. Now 6 months carnivorish, hovering around 171. Considering another diet drug since all my weight work has given me great arms but my large tummy sort of spoils the look. I’m considering another diet drug, since I want to lose 30 pounds and at least some of that visceral fat. Also stuck at HA1c of 5.7 (but low fasting glucose, fasting insulin, and no insulin resistance). On hypertension meds. Have added treadmill and sauna. Other experts have said you can’t lose visceral fat until all the exterior fat is gone. 😢 I’ve had plenty of community input; I want to hear from the doc! There are surely other little feminine round balls of women who could use some advice and encouragement from Dr. Sean! Come on, give!

My health club does not have a cold plunge. The manager says they are looking to convert one of their two “spas” to one. But I’m guessing 9 months to a year before it happens. And I just can’t stand in a cold shower for long enough to do much good.

Margo, thank you for sharing your story. I’m a 60 year old woman who has four pounds of visceral fat that I’m working on. I’d love to lose about 25 pounds. It all came on ten years ago in perimenopause, and it’s been a struggle to get rid of. Plus we have the disadvantage of going through menopause and becoming more insulin resistant due to our hormones plummeting. I would love to hear more about women too from Dr. Sean. 😊

Please check out Dr. Annette Bozworth - "Dr. Boz". She does a good job explaining why things are stalled in the weight department for people that are " doing all the right things". Insulin resistance could be a factor that may be causing the wrong signal to the cells - instead of release fat, they are holding fat.

As a 30 year multisport endurance athlete, now aged 57 I enjoy this analysis. That said lean musculature in itself, combined with low visceral fat, is NOT a clear determinant of 'fitness'. Having worked with many of the worlds fittest individuals, who appear similar as the introductory pic, combined with Vo2 at their genetic max, with low resting heart rates, typically in the 35-45 range, THIS is what fit is. Musculature and low visceral fat, although they 'may look aesthetically pleasing, such as the case with many 'artificially' enhanced individuals, such as many bodybuilders, are anything but fit, even though they give the appearance as such. As my exercise physiology professor taught me 35 years ago, "you can put a suit on any idiot, doesn't make them intelligent or a CEO'.

Doc, I need your advice. Doctors all around me, especially covered by my insurance are complete morons, their idea of "healthy living" is what kills people. I am 60, ex-pro athlete, developped all of the symptoms you were kind enough to share with us. Since I started carnivorey diet, your style - meaning, I do eat Kefir, which I make myself, fermented veggies. Got off CPAP machine after 15 years, fixed my Type 2 diabetes, dropped 2-3 sizes, improved my eyesight, got rid of ackes and pains all over..... QUESTION!!! After 4-5 month on carnivore, peripheral neuropathy came back, burning in my feet as if im in livnig hell. Luckily I listened to a Dr. from England who said that B1 defficiency is what's causing it, even on all meat diet it is very much possible to be B1 defficient. The very first time I took 300mg of B1, burning went away, now I take 300mg daily. WHAT IS A PROPER DOSAGE? HOW LONG? WILL THIS CONDITION GO AWAY, OR SHOULD I SUPPLEMENT ALL THE TIME? HAVE YOU HEARD OF THIS CONDITION WHILE ON CARNIVORE DIET?
