Chinese UNITY Riser/Magnifier Mounts - Are You Just Paying For A Name?

My limited experience review of the Chinese UNITY clones floating around on Amazon and Ebay. I think these are a good choice for someone who isn’t sure if they will like the Unity risers and wants to test it out first. So far these copies are working very well and seem fairly well made.

I use both the real and the knockoff. My real expensive shit I do not train w/ it all the way up to my best firearms. I have been surprised a few times how well the Chinese crap actually holds up and the lasers are more powerful because 'the China do not care' about CDC guidelines. You can disassemble China made equipment and make them more robust for the element.

My clone Scalarworks leap 1.93" high 30mm tube, scope rings came in today. It looks great for a clone. Good for an LPVO with a 1/2'' thick homemade cheek riser made out of floormat EVA foam from Harbor Freight. Heat and bend to shape stock, then either contact cement or double sided tape depending on permanency. I took some pics of where the Discovery scope needs orings and rope plugs to waterproof that scope if you want to do the same. Some scopes are missing orings, some have them in, factory probably ran out of orings but sent scopes out without them in anyway

I like what your doing on the channel and wish to repay you with important modifications on a scope as well as an IR (infra red) flashlight you showcased on the channel recently. I purchased several of the Discovery Opt 3-12x44 SFIR (side focus, illuminated reticle) scopes and proceeded with testing and trials. Its not waterproof but is fairly easy to make waterproof with some inexpensive parts and detailed work. Argon gas is optional, I have it with my TIG welder The Cyansky K3-i8 ir flashlight is a good value however is overpowering with nods at CQB distances, an inexpensive diffuser solves that problem exceptionally well with a smooth 180 degree spill but it too has to be modified. Both work great with these robust mods. and will make these devices more usable and effective long term. If this interests you I may elaborate with details, pics & part numbers....It may even make a good video. What better way to sell more than just a few

However, Its easy to loose the lens, it pops out of the slick rubber tube so you should glue it in with E6000 adhesive glue, I tried several adhesives none work well on the slick rubber tube. Hard to stick any glue onto that slick ass tube. Its a weird kinda rubber. E6000 is awesome stuff BTW. I use it for many, many things. Its an industrial type of very flexible, stretchable adhesive that sticks quite well to most substraights except slick ass rubber, uggg, but I haven't found an adhesive that does better on the diffuser. Water proof your Discovery turrets, use orings under turret cap and 3/32 valve packing rope for the hole in the turret cap. They drilled the hole to relieve the vacuum but made it suck up water.

Funny coming across this, because i did order a few unity knock off risers. Just to see if i like the height and function, instead of paying 250 to try. I just spend like 80 on 2 different ones. And it got me thinking to take one. Have the top part milled down flat so that way. I could have a small plate fitted to a red dot, and have kind of a universal riser. All that would be needed if i would want to use a different dot. Just have a different plate. Saves quite a lot on buying different riser for a different brand or dot.

If your able to mar up a portion or scrape some alum shavings off a thick part of the device. 7075 reacts violently to it and turns black and 6061 just bubbles a bit. Also you can use hydrogen peroxide to test between aluminum and magnesium, no reaction on alum while magnesium bubbles up

Magnifiers don’t have a real zero to lose… the adjustments on the G.33 and any other magnifier that has such adjustments is only there because some shooters get a hair up their ass if the dot is not centered in the magnifier. Adjusting the magnifier has ZERO bearing on the dot’s zero. All you’re adjusting on the magnifier is where it’s pointed at the back of your dot…
