    There are two things you can do to draw out the lavae. Put vaseline over the hole which will bring them to the opening as they need the hole open to come out if they are in there, they also need an air flow to survive. Or flush the hole with a stong saline solution, it wont harm the tree and it will kill off the lavae from the salt. Dont put chemicals in to kill them as it will burn the soft wood of the tree. If you do use the saline fill the hole until no more solution can go in, you are more likely to flush out anything that is in there and any eggs which could be in there, the salt will erode the surface of the eggs.

    Phillip, you have no worries about your red oak. This is an extremely hardy tree and can withstand unbelievable punishment and still flourish. Here in the southeastern united states where I live the red oak varieties are one of our most plentiful wild growth species and I own a 300 acre hardwood forest of primarily red and white oak. I have a small grove of red oak that are between 300 and 400 years old and the great thing about the red oak is the red oak has the same amount of roots under ground as it’s above ground growth making them able to withstand storms, drought and diseases that will kill other types of trees. Yours is a particularly beautiful specimen and I hope it lasts to become a focal point of your garden.

    Red Oaks are extremely hardy here in the Middle Atlantic also. However Phillip, when you come out of cryogenic sleep, be prepared to hire a Tree Arborist to assess the oak trees. We lose 200-300 year old oaks here to high winds, especially if the roots or soil becomes over saturated. The tree may need stabilizers depending on the care and respect you descendants give the trees.

    I knew you would build a kitchen worthy as a château and I am in all of all of the woodwork you built around the center island as well as the beautiful cabinets. I’m not surprised the comments which one made about painting the word but they don’t have your vision, Anna and Philip that you both too, for your lovely kitchen!!!Having wood cabinets would not go along with the other beauty and continuity of the other rooms and the Chatteau❣️❣️ Anna, I think artist love to paint no matter what the brush is in their hand… But you are marvelous you painting the Château❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️ You are masterful in your skill and the beauty of the results of the finished product in every room you paint in♥️♥️ you are an example to any woman who thinks she cannot do something, watching you, she learns that SHE CAN❣️❣️❣️❣️🌈 I wish, Anna, a VERY HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY to a LOVELY WOMAN w/ 2 BEAUTIFUL GIRLS 🌸🌸💕💕

    Phillip, you can add items around the kitchen in the color red you adore. Napkins, ceramic flower pots and seasonal tablecloths will do the trick. As to the insect hole in the tree, the nursery should give you a new tree since the insect was probably already burrowed in the trunk. Even if you remove, it has done quite a bit of damage and will weaken the tree in the future. Should be covered by the growers warranty. Loving the kitchen and your humor!

    This is what happens when you get a puppy. They are babies that need care and guidance. Supervision is essential, especially around construction 🚧 sites. Ziggy enjoys garden plants, boots, construction materials and probably anything else he can fit into his mouth, lol. The kitchen is turning into an amazing room. I’m given no it 10 days to 2 weeks for completion (except for the 4 brass door handles).

    You have red oak borers. They can be found in ornamental trees from nurseries. Eggs are laid directly onto the bark. The hatched larvae dig tunnels which can extend into the tree (attracting more damage from pests like carpenter ants, carpenter worms, and wood decay organisms). The adults exit in the Spring /Summer and leave a hole and the sap discoloration as seen in your video. I would suggest asking the nursery if they would replace the young tree because it’s a recent purchase.

    I love that the colors of all your rooms are compatable! Martha Stewart teaches that all the rooms in your home should have a nice flow and not jarring. So, one room should not be, say, burgundy and the next room baby blue - it doesn’t make sense and our brains kind of take note. There needs to be an overall color theme. If you lean toward pastels then the whole house should be pastels and compatible/complementary accent colors. If your theme is dark and moody then it should be dark and moody throughout. If you prefer neutrals then it should be somewhat neutral throughout. Very nice job on your Chateau color selections! Love it!

  • @cherbinsted2378
    @cherbinsted23782 жыл бұрын

    We call that grub a borer and if you poke the wire in enough, you can stab it and kill it. I have used Neem spray squirted into downward holes also. Plug the hole afterwards to prevent other critters getting in. Visually check susceptible trees often or it will damage them enough to kill the tree. 👍🇦🇺

    Anna is so ridiculously good-looking that when she refers to herself as "looking tired without any make-up on" I find myself wondering when I have ever seen a person looking this fresh without any (or a ton of) concealer on her. And before we hear anyone complaining: yes, Philipp, you are a handsome lad, too. Concerning the lavae: my gardening husband said it could be the 'Weidenbohrer', who really is a pain in the ass. Nobody really knows how to fight it once it's made its way into the tree, he says, and yes, it can potentially kill the tree by making it brittle and break. Sorry for not having better news! Maybe just close the hole with some candle wax and suffocate it? Great job on the island, Team Benoît!

    Wow, what an epic painting effort of all the paneling and cabinetry in the kitchen and the rest of the bathroom. So glad that Charlie is there to help. Loved the Ziggy cameo! Philipp, thanks for fitting in the filming and editing between your influencer duties. Anna, how about some photographs, possibly vintage ones, (were they Pompeiian?) of the murals that inspired yours, for the wc room? Anna, even tired, you are beautiful. These videos are always such a joy to watch.

    At this point I can imagine you releasing merch with mugs/posters that say "See you later then". Such iconic dry humour, I find you two hysterical. And what fabulous progress on the kitchen, bravo!

    The red oak wood borer (Enaphalodes rufulus) can be a serious pest in red oak tree stands. As wood borer larvae feed on red oak heartwood, they leave visible tunnels. Wood borer tunnels are easily identified by the oozing sap and sawdust-like frass near the tunnel's entrance. Heavy infestations could scar the tree or girdle and kill small limbs. Red oak borer damage is often exacerbated by the diseases or other insects that enter the tree through the borer tunnels. Physically remove the wood borer larvae. Wood borer larvae hatch and feed a few weeks after they are laid in late summer and will continue to feed for the next year. Identify the pinhole sized hole entrance in the tree. Insert a straightened wire hanger or other long, sharp implement into the 6-inch to 10-inch tunnel repeatedly to impale the white or cream colored, fat wood borer larvae. The red oak wood borer (Enaphalodes rufulus) can be a serious pest in red oak tree stands. Red oak borer damage is often exacerbated by the diseases or other insects that enter the tree through the borer tunnels. Spray the red oak with an insecticide scheduled for use on red oak wood borers. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for application rates and amounts. These are contact insecticides designed to kill adult borers before they can lay their eggs. All of the tree's bark must be coated in order for the insecticide to be effective. Spray for red oak borers in the last week of June--a week or so before the earliest borers lay their eggs. Re-spray the red oak every 3 to 10 weeks (the intervals will be dictated by the manufacturer of the insecticide) until the egg-laying season is over in early October. Tip According to Texas A&M entomologists, spray insecticide will likely have to be applied every egg-laying season indefinitely. They recommend tree removal as a more environmentally and economically sound option for repeatedly infested trees. Healthy trees are better able to fend off wood borer infestation.

    👍 Ha ha ha agree! I’m laughing because it wasn’t until I posted my suspicion that it was a red oak borer, that I read your comment. Good job!

    Couldn’t they have gotten a replacement from the garden place they purchased it from?. Is there such a possibility?

    @@dianegriffith3006 the tree is not dead so I’m sure they want to see if they can save it. As Phillip mentions, it was their most expensive tree and most nurseries won’t replace pest damaged trees for free!
