Château de la Grifferaie S3, E15: "Magic Dust"
For the third time we are joined by a group of friends to help us as we tackled Monstrous piles of wood, endless weeds, basement bedrooms, and the soon to be "London Bathroom". Thanks to our Patreon friends for their support. www.patreon.com/user?u=488949....

Our family has been on several mission trips over the years. We feel so good when the missionaries we help give us good projects. What is a good project? One that makes a difference and is challenging but do-able. We do it to encourage the missionaries but we get just as much encouragement and hope to please the Lord. I think it's wonderful that others are trying to encourage you!!
Love you guys! When you are working for our Lord, he sends helpers. Thank you to all those who answered the call . Stay strong . Your chateau is looking better.
God bless all the people who came to help you!
If this were my chateau, before I did anything else, I would address the roof and drainage issue! Unless this is fixed first, doing anything else is a long term losing proposition!
So happy that ya'll had so many volunteers to help around the Chateau. Years ago the Chateau owners had many people who worked for them to maintain the grounds & the buildings, for just the two of you it must be overwhelming. God Bless, Kathy 🇺🇸
How nice that you had these workers, so much can get accomplished with help, congrats on that. The grounds are looking fabulous. Can't wait to see the finished London bathroom. I think black bed frames look very rich and stylish, definitely get the roof and gutters or all inside work will be lost. Love from NY.
Brilliant people helping you well done everyone 🤗🎂❤ Love Sue❤❤❤🇬🇧❤❤❤
Those workings bees as a regular feature would be fabulous. Having their company while you are all working is heartening. The grounds are looking marvellous. i love to see the bottom of the trees, trunks are wonderful. Look forward to the next bathroom reveal. Great stuff.
I really enjoy you 2 so very much!
I come from a very large family. And we adopted the motto, "many hands make light work". So very true. Also with more people, it is just a more enjoyable experience. Much visiting while working a d getting jobs done.
A lot was accomplished in a short time! You have fantastic friends!
I've seen many people who are renovating and removing/replacing tiles. They make piles of them then when they have some time, break them into pieces and create various mosaic art with them. Incorporate into walls, floors and outdoor areas. Quite beautiful and creative.
You do look tuckered out! I am so happy that you had help from friends! Take care!
Great progress this week! I love the gorgeous black door to the London bathroom! Thank you to all the volunteers!
Thank you for inviting us to your château it was very fun!🙂
WOW! What a place! What great people! What a perfect dog! Love all of it! Thanks!
Always good to have friends share the work. Blessings to you guys and them.
Love the vision of helping friends bringing magic dust to the chateau! (Although that armoire cornice brought a lot of no-so-magic dust...)
Oh my , thanks so much for the amazing update!! Love the beginning and end of your VLOG, so beautiful!!!! Wishing you all the best, God’s Blessings to you both!!
What a great update of all of the volunteers and work that was done. The grounds are really looking great with all of the clearing done ......well done to all of you!! Bless you both!!
So inspiring! I look forward to each episode. Really admire you.
Wonderful hard working generous volunteers. Great progress. Enjoyed.
Wonderful volunteers helping to work on the chateau! Continue your quest with the help of others as you provide such a unique study abroad experience!
Loved the music at The End! So appropriate!
The grounds are looking great! Happy to see your boxwood hedge has come back. I agree; after a long haul of working (especially at this point in the summer), energy is at a low point. Glad you could get some help. Another restoration KZreadr confessed they've never been able to close up every hole in their Victorian house, so they still sometimes have critters. Part of the charm, LOL. Furniture delivery can still be horrible here in the U.S. Our old sofa was in the back of our pickup, ready to go to Goodwill, when the delivery guys informed us that when they unwrapped our new sofa, the wood on one end was split, and they couldn't deliver a new one for two weeks. This was 4 days before Christmas, so the old sofa stayed with us until New Year's. :0
Such a blessing to have such wonderful friends who are willing to lend a helping hand and so much fun for all to catch up and enjoy each others company.Lovely video and am looking forward to the nest one.💖💖💝💖💖Love the Bing Boy sooooo much he is such a handsome boy!!!💖💞💖
You definitely need a caretaker/handy person or couple to ensure the chateau is occupied and secured year-round. (With a big dog to help boars feel unwelcome.) Six months empty is a long opportunity for all the progress made by these work parties to be undone, and for mold to take hold inside. There must be someone somewhere who can be trusted to do maintenance over winter and help with projects over summer, in exchange for a place to live. I know heating is expensive, but they would only need to consistently heat the area they live in... and they could also monitor the mold sitution and strategically heat areas intermittently, to dry them out. You work so hard every time you open the place, and seem to lose a lot of time cleaning up after mold and debris that occurs because the place is empty. Know any retired contractors through your church connections?

Such a person would incur costs moving in and moving out of the chateau every year, as well as an apartment finder's fee. That should be reimbursed, since no one in reduced financial circumstances can afford that. They may also incur incremental expenses for local travel (shopping, restaurants, church, etc.), since the chateau is far removed from a city or town center. Therefore, a small salary would be necessary to make up the difference. The alternative is to only hire someone who is independently wealthy or has some kind of income stream which requires no working during the months occupying the chateau. This idea of working in exchange for a roof is exploitative and unfair.

I did tell you about a product to get the wall paper off. In one of your other video's
Too bad we aren't 49 years younger. Right now it just makes me feel tired. Love the place though.
Garden looks great
Keep up the good work 🌻🌻🌻🌻
Great Work 👍 🥰 your vlogs ❤
Amazon works very well in the UK. I ward not so well in France.
I don't believe their stays are a full 6 month in France and 6 months in the states. Because he teaches at Multnomah University in Oregon Fall & Spring semesters. That means there is time in Summer to be in France and time at Christmas when they were also in France.
👋👍❤️
Do watch The Pethericks channel on utube regarding tiling his chateau using a cherry picker.
Progress! So is there any plan to move to France on a permanent basis or is it going to be the 6 month stays with the occasional shorter to do more?
I was thinkingbabout the gutters Have you considered gutter guards? I am not sure if they will fit but they might be the solution you need. If you can figure a way to customize your own.
A couple of suggestions for your pig 🐽 🐖 🐷 problem. Cheapest is they have ultra sensitive smelling so a few things that are practical and a few that if you are desperate. SMELLS 1. Human hair. Go to barber shops and hair salons to collect hair. I say both because females longer hair is ok flying around in you wooded areas but not a good look for you have hair flying around in the front yard so your shorter mens hair for low grass areas. 2. Animal urine. I know that might be difficult but I have heard used kitty liter or every once in a while invite all your doggie families over for some dog treats so they can mark their territory. Problem is as soon as it rains you have a problem. This also comes in for… 3. They make pig repellent to sprinkle in your areas that the pigs frequent but again means reapplying every week. Sounds 1. Sonar for animals. Not sure if it bother Binx but I don’t think so. 2.Motion sensor dog noises, people talking, alarms. Sight 1, pigs are basically blind so motion sensor fog lights would simply and even solar generated so inexpensive. 2. Lawn ornaments that move like pinwheels or any lawn animals that you see that constantly move. We had a duck who’s wings flapped on a motion sensor. Finally get more dogs because pigs hate dogs. Some may cost more but take up less time some take up a constant process both save the yard. I really hope one of these help. My personal preference is the human hair because that’s the cheapest, easiest to find, and works on keeping other animals away to.
Why don't you use a hoverboard outside to access the holes in the roof?
once again, no mention of Mr. Bentley PET Scan.. LOL..
👍🏻

You definitely need to repair your roof! If you don’t the rest of the work you’ve done is fruitless! Looks like you have some major problems that need attention soon.
Are you ever going to get dual citizenship so you can stay as long and as much as you need?
