In Ontario, Canada house prices jumped so fast and has stayed high..The brick 100 year old 5 bedroom house that is across the street from my home, just sold approx $950,000. The comparison that these are almost same price, is remarkable

Why would GOD honor their journey? There is no future because we are living in the end times, the rapture and the Tribulation is right around the corner and they also don't mind occult items, like the devils flower, the fleurde-lis - . Listen to real theologians like Dr. Ron rhodes on end times chronolgy.

Wow what a huge undertaking and adventure. I hope you watched “Escape to the Chateau” with Dick and Angel Strawbridge. You could probably get some some valuable help from them. I don’t think they’d be too hard to get in touch with. You have a great vision and I hope you get all the support you’ll need to carry it out. I’ve enjoyed watching your journey so far. From Canada, all the best!

A stunning video. Thank you very much. A chateau in France is a heavenly dream. However, the acquisition prices are low, but I guess the renovation costs and the property taxes are not, quite apart from the costs to run the place. How do you heat such places? In the ages, people walked around in thick coats in their houses.

I think repairs are the worst cost, like.... roof repairs for example. But heating it is impossible with today's prices, easily more than $100 a day for the heating oil/boiler.

@@chateaudelagrifferaie953 I will give you a tip that will save you 80% in heating costs in castles. Heat flows to the ceiling. There exist (or else you can create it yourself) chep systems consisting of tubes (pipes) fitted on top of one another until the pipe reaches the ceiling. At the bottom there is a noiseless fan sucking hot air from the ceiling that spreads it over the floor. I had such a thing when I lived in quarters with a ceiling of 4 yards high. And then you need to isolate against draught through the window bays and the chill from the walls. Double stone walls were invented and introduced only in the 1930's. In the USA, it is still uncommon which is why they build their houses from wood, wood isolates more than stone except when you have a double wall. The air enclosed in the double wall, acts as splendid isolation. THere is no way to heat a donjon with walls of 3 yards thick. The cold will be caputered in the stone. The only thing you can do is add a layer of paper or silk and have this about one inch from the wall. I do not know what it is called in English. In Dutch it is called "betengel" but I could not find a translation. However you must be able to find it. It was everywhere in houses in the 19th century.

People see these chateaux as 'cheap' but there is always a reason, tons of work, huge taxes, boundary issues etc. You have to expect to double your outlay when you buy one of these.

Do you happen to know how high the tax is? The price is low even with the full scale renovation and I think there must be some crazy catch.

@@is8249 Well given that I would pay about 2000 euros for a house I imagine that for a chateau it could be tens of thousands. There are two taxes for home owners, one for renters in France. It might depend on how the ownership is registered. Sometimes people make an SCI which is a 'Societé Civil Immobilier' breaking down the chateau into shares, it has advantages. It also depends if you are a non profit organisation etc.

@@is8249 It is a popular method these days to get around inheritance tax and other formalities. The shares being blank they can be transferred on demise and avoid death duties. This works within a 'confident' environment. There are also other tax reasons for this. A notary will have more information on this.

Wonderful videos but I hope you don't mind a bit of criticism. The husband continuously interrupts when the wife is speaking and it gets annoying! I'm not making any kind of feminist statement here, I am not a women's rights fanatic. It's just that it would be a more enjoyable video if the husband would be polite and allow her to finish a sentence. We want to hear what both of you have to say.
