Good review!

To take care of the rear sight issue. Get a bottle of glow-in-the-dark nail polish and a bottle of Whiteout correction fluid. Clean with Isoprypol alcohol, put a thin coating of the whiteout, let it dry. Put several coats of the nail polish over-top of the whiteout. I have used this on my shotgun, lettering and glock magazine base plates plus numbering the magazines. Ambient light charges the glow nail polish. No problem locating the treated firearms in the dark or low light. Good luck.

I'm sorry, you are correct. I actually have the "C" model and always thought the trigger was metal because of how awesome the trigger pull is lol. I checked the trigger after after reading your comment and yes it is plastic. I still think it is a better made pistol than a Glock though.

Great review - particularly interesting to me as my nightstand gun is currently a Glock 23. All my current pistols are .40 caliber and either Glocks or extremely Glock-like. In browsing 9mm pistols, I've always been drawn to the ergonomic design of the Ruger SR9, but I will not own a pistol with a manual safety. The Caracal seems perfect - like the love child of a Glock and a Steyr, with some SR9 genes slopped in there as well. Nice.

Great great video man. FYI- rub some metal across the slide. Then, take some CLP and wipe it down. Scratch GONE. It's not scratching, bud- the slide metal is so hard, anything metal that touches it sloughs off metal onto the slide. Try it.

Thanks for sharing. Many of the issues you mentioned in terms of accessories are really just a matter of being time issues. When the Glock was first released it had barely anything available for it and over time one could expect the Caracal to also have similar aftermarket accessories. In terms of finishing the pistol, I agree that the issue is a serious one. I'm not sure if that's the case on the newest models though. I watched Mrgunsngear and his seemed quite good.

Recommend you post in the video that Caracal C has been recalled.

Hmm. Odd. Mine has what looks like holster wear, but it's actually just the metal getting shiny from the holster buffing it. Have had some trigger issues, though. Trigger getting gritty.

I think they are still probably swamped from the recall too. Hopefully once that wave is over they will be easier to deal with.

I think you're right in some cases, but finish is very thin and wears easily. A few weeks later and I see even more wear, while my glocks still look pristine. My gun had what looked to be muzzle wear from a holster right out of the box- not something that is wipe off-able.

Would like to add that Bubits was never directly involved in any Glock pistol design but used the experience he got while being a tester and presenter at Glock to build the Steyr M. Interestingly, the Caracal is actually closer to the original Glock design than the Steyr.

&C mdls are under a recall for faulty slides. Do not shoot, ship back & they'll replace w/ a new pistol but I'm hearing that it takes a long time to get your new one. I've seen great reviews on the "F" models. For under $400 bucks & designed by a former Glock Dude? It should perform. The striker fire assembly just all falks out in pieces. Not held together like a Glock & I hear they are a pain to get back in place

I've been waiting about two months now for them to ship me a return box. Last I heard was "February". Well, February is almost over... I can say one thing for sure: Caracal customer service doesn't hold a candle to Glock's. It may in the future, but right now they're just too small.

You didn't mention that the rails on the Caracal are much longer than the Glock. Also the trigger is made of metal unlike the Glocks plastic trigger.

The slide isn't Parkerized like a Glock; it's bare metal. Magnetite, to be precise. Wipe it down with a good cleaner. See what happens. That being said....I've had some issues with mine. Meh. Trigger got crunchy. Also, my slide broke...

I think your rear sight is definitely an error. Mine has a white rear sight, it looks like yours skipped that step on the assembly line. I'd call Caracal and see what they'll do for you.

In terms of the extra weight, if the pistol is just a few ounces heavier yet more naturally pointing than a Glock I'd be more inclined to go for that. The sight issue you mentioned is very serious in my opinion, have you called Caracal to ask them about it? Surely that should be covered under warranty.

uhhmmm let's see, it's a $100 less, better trigger, better feel in hand. seems like plenty reason to take it over the glock.
