Springfield XDs first impressions vs S&W Shield, Glock 26 and XDm Compact

Ойын-сауық

An overview of the Springfield XDs .45 pistol. I compare size and features with some of the other handguns in the same category, including the S&W Shield, the Glock 26 and the Springfield XDm compact.

They all have their pros & cons I could not make up my mind so I bought all 3 & got a .45 BiTone XDS for my birthday so I have 4 additions to add to my gun family. I'm a very happy man!

Because it's the proper, professional thing to do. Treating all firearms as if they're always loaded (until unequivocally determined to be otherwise) is one of the core tenants of firearm safety. One should do the safety check OUT OF HABIT; so much so that NOT doing it feels odd. That's the kind of approach that will keep you safe. I appreciate that this reviewer demonstrates proper safety techniques.

Great comparison. I have the XDS 9MM 3.3 and the Glock 26 gen 4. I honestly can't tell much of a difference between the two in a minimal ISWB holster from gearcraft. What I like about the G26 is the higher round capacity and the ability to carry either a 15 round or 17 round capacity magazine in my pocket. That's unbeatable right there.

Fantastic video. I love my xd 45, but I had made up my mind to aquire the shield in 9 mm for my next ccw. Now that I see how small the xds is, however, I may have to rethink things! Eventually I hope to own both, but for now, I am leaning towards that xds. I have also seen itnbeing shot on guns and ammo tv and was impressed with the accuracy out to (I think) 25 yards with very, very tight groupings.

Ive shot just about every brand of pistol, caliber ranging from .22 to 500 mag and I just feel that SA is one of the best handguns made period... comfortable, reliable, not alot of maintaining other then oil, SA has great customer service... and I dont got to say anything else the pistol will do the talking! No glocks here nothing but SA

To me, it comes down to personal preference. I know a lot of people who love the Glocks, some who love the S&W, and some who love the XDS. Honestly, while I don't care for the style of trigger on the S&W models and don't like the thickness of the Glocks in my hand, its not to say that they are bad, just not my preference. I have been using the XDS for some time now but my brother still prefers his S&W to his Glock or my XDS so its really just preference.

I debated between the Shield and XDs for about a week( but not for the Glock, fine guns just not for me) It came down to S&W's trigger didn't suit me. So I picked up a XDs and I love it.

I've owned 5 XD's over the years and still own two and I've NEVER had ANY issues quality wise and/or use wise! They're certainly not a new company??? My old XD tactical has more than 5000 rounds through her so far and my XDM45 has over 2000. I HIGHLY recommend them and even used my buddies XDM 5.25 in local competitions with great success. The reason for this post is between my and all my peers that own these weapons, I've yet hear of a lemon??? I love all my 3rd Gen Glocks too but prefer the XD

I bought mine 19 Dec 12. I went to the range and put 150 rounds through it with absolutely no problem. It is highly accurate but mine shoots slightly to the right. I will say if you fired it all day long it would wear you hand/wrist out. Plus get you a mag reloader. Shooting 5 per mag with 2 mags @ 150 rounds....you fingers will get tired real quick. This pistol is everything I hoped it would be....and yes they can be hard to find. Mine was $157 out the door

I'm thinking about an XDS for my wife, I prefer Glock's for myself but she finds the grip too thick for her hand. The only thing I don't like is the grip safety, also I noticed the barrel walls seem very thin, do you think that will effect long term durability?

I got one two weeks ago, it's for sale now, I managed to get 8 rounds fired, had to feed all by hand, single shot. Trigger feels like a graveled road as well. I sent SA an email about it over a week ago and no reply yet. I tried different ammo, I can put it in my other 45's and they just rock on,

I like your initiative in adding a good side by side comparison with a few different guns. However I would like to convince you to stay away from steel cased ammo. Reason being is over time the residual it leaves in the barrel stays in the rifleing and becomes an issue. It is much harder to clean than brass. Overall great review!

XDS is SUPER although, that handle safety concerns me under duress? The M& P 9 and 40 is SUPER too! it does have a safety too, although, positioned in a PROPER formatted location all moving items on one side. While a 45 is a significant amount of mass to deal with, the 40 shield is TREMENDOUS a lll around carry with enough power to make the point with FULL confidence!

The video makers do this to keep gun safety first and foremost. There are plenty of newer gun owners that might not even think about it and end up with an accidental discharge. He's just being responsible.

I wonder why this question got down voted so much. It's a legitimate question from a viewer who didn't understand why doing a safety check is important. I think, personally, doing them on camera is silly. Why? Because if something actually did go wrong during filming, do you think the channel would upload the video in the first place? No. Safety is safety, I get that, I abide by that, I teach it. But it's a edited video, not a live broadcast. I think that's what GTR was getting at.

I feel like polymer guns make it feel like the weapon is more like a toy rather than a deadly instrument. I know they're every bit as deadly, however they seem less threatening because they are simply made of plastic.

Boys, boys, boys....calm down, everybody just settle down. Why do so many of you insist on praising one and despising the other. Glock sucks, smith till I die, xdm blows, blah blah blah. I own a glock 19(gen 4), and an xds .45; dad owns an M&P. The truth is all three guns are well made, reliable and...remarkably similar. They are all, polymer framed, conceal pieces made with quality components, made by highly respected manufactures. Of course there are subtle differences and things I like better about some than others...capacity wise, it's my 19 all the way...ergonomically I think the smith just edges out the XDs..barely, but stopping power...Springfield for sure, assuming its the model chambered in .45. Ultimately my point is, that no one can justify loving one and loathing the other..there simply too similar. So...barring you got the one lemon in the factory that just fails to function with any reliability whatsoever...just stop. It's like someone saying that 7-up tastes like vomit, but sprite tastes like cognac. Great vid.

***** You have to think for yourself. That's why I don't believe all of the propaganda on KZread. If you think a .45 will stop someone better than a 9mm, go ahead and believe that. I understand. I like to carry .40's too, even though I know a 15" deep hole will do the job regardless of whether it is .5" or .8". All that matters is what part of the body it hits.
