Funny, the "toy-like" feel is what I think of the Glock! The Shield 9mm might be the best handgun made in my opinion. Each to their own!

Great review and comparison. Thanks. I like the Shield 9mm because I also own an M&P 9 full size and was very happy with its feel and performance. The Shield is a comfortable carry gun and is similar enough to the full size version that I don't get confused.

Video was good, very thorough. Everything I see and hear about the S&W Shield is positive. Seems like an excellent choice for someone who wants a good concealed carry pistol. I'm giving serious thought to purchasing one. Although Concealed Carry in The Peoples Republic of New Jersey is almost impossible to obtain by regular citizens. Though If you're one of the Beautiful People (Celebrity, Rich, Politically Connected) you have an excellent chance of getting a concealed carry permit.

Didn't mean to send that so quick, thanks for the nice comparison , good job. I may get the Talon grips but I only have a couple hundred rounds though it. I need to shoot it more. But I can tell you being a Marine and involved in law enforcement for many years- this gun is sweet. I know just about every video says this but it's true. Thanks again for the info. If you have a Gen 4 .40S&W I'd like your opinion on that weapon as it will probably be my next!

The PPS mag release was admittedly a selling point for me. I own HK's and they are my primary defensive handguns, so adjusting my muscle memory wasn't an issue. Both of these weapons are awesome. Can't say I'm a fan of the Shields' external safety, but I guess you don't need to use it. I'm really glad the M&P improved the reset on the trigger. I really with Walther managed to squeeze another round in the PPS, but I am still very glad I opted for it. Thanks for the video!

You should look at a tactipac holster. I love mine. I have the fusionpac holster. Good review. I am looking for an M&P shield for my carry instead of carrying my full size M&P. I'm not a big guy so it's not very concealed unless it's cold out lol. I rented one at a range and I have to say I'm in love with it. They had the ext grip on it which was loose but I'm sure that can be corrected. S&W needs to get their asses in gear and start pumping out more shields because I just can't seem to find one

The pps was one of the first sub compact semi autos ever made. People say its too big but that is compared to the latest 9mm pistols. It's very slim and very accurate but not everyone likes the trigger guard mag release (I do). The pps is a fantastic compact 9mm with great reliabilty and pinpoint accuracy but there are smaller options. There are nice pocket 9's out there for a bit more money. I would have chosen the kahr compact series if I opted to spend another 100-120 bucks.

I was thinking about getting the Walther PPQ as my next gun, whatever I'm going to have to pay at least $50 for an extra magazine then I'm going on another route. Does anyone know if the extra magazines for the PPQ are as expensive as the PPS?

As an owner of both a Kahr PM9 & Glock 26 I thought I'd check out the Shield to see what all the fuss was about. After having doing so I'm not impressed. I found the trigger pull dangerously light and toy-like in feel. I know the Shield can be purchased with/without a safety but as someone who prefers no safety on their CC guns this was a deal breaker for me. Both the PM9 & G26 have it beat hands down.

Safety Nazi says you didn't safety check those guns! You pointed it right at me!!! You could have killed the whole internet!! j/k Good vid. I like the PPS and G26. I already own a Nano, which I'll keep, mainly because the idea of selling it at a loss is a hassle. I do like it though, and it hides and carries very well, which is my primary consideration for a CCW. I can carry that 6+1 with no worries about a light trigger AD, unlike the Glock, which kinda scares me to carry hot.

Last I saw they were around 40 apiece, depending on where you find them. I personally love my PPQ and having to pay extra for mags is a necessary evil I'm willing to endure to have such a wonderful pistol.

Yeah that's not so bad. I think on average pretty much all the mags out there are about $35-$40 so I can deal with that, but $50+tax/shipping is a little too much for more...I'm officially jealous btw, I would love to have a PPQ but for now I'm good with my .40 M&P. Cheers!

As an owner of a Kahr PM9 you haven't really explained why your prefer the Shield to it. I own a CW9 and I just can't see the need to purchase a Shield, though it looks like a really good and reliable handgun. Why do you like the Shield more than the Kahr?

NGS (new gun syndrome) The Shield wins because it is the latest greatest. I bet if the PPS came out latest it would have been "the best". We've all been guilty of it.

Wow, I’ll be the iconoclast here. I’ve shot 3 different Shields. Hated them all. They always felt cheap, squishy triggers, and not accurate at all. I’ve shot my neighbor’s Glock once with him. Also not accurate. I’ve owned the PPS M1 for 4-5 years now, and love it. Tightly engineered, higher quality than the Shield. And as accurate or more so than my PPX...and that’s an accurate gun. The VP9 gives it a run, but that’s saying something. The PPS trigger is okay, not the best, but I can hit 1-2” groups all day long at 7-10 yds.
