The slide catch lever, decocker, barrel, sear and hammer (I believe) are phosphate coated to resist rusting in marine environments. The barrel is also chrome lined unlike other 226 models (excluding the Combat model).

MK = Mark. It's called a Mark 25. The difference between a Mark number an "M" number is who uses it. an M4 or M16 is called so because it is a government issued weapon that multiple services use. Mark means only one service, in this case, the U.S. Navy, uses it.

It was destroyed by shrapnel, the 1911 protected his leg...but was destroyed. He then went to the P220 Sig and carried it for the remainder of his duty.

I have the old sig navy prior to this mk25. I installed SRT, dig OEM metal guide rod and put a 228 take down and decocking levers (early production) as those are recommended by a member in sigforum. Now it looks a classic with those small parts. Great review though! Tnx

I noticed that some Sigs MK25 (and even regular P226) does not have signs of wear on the right side of that quadratic barrel chamber (where 9mm para is engraved). But some of them has that part of barrel totally worn out with huge white scratches (and the time of using does not matter). Does that mean that the demensions slide vs barrel = friction are slightly different from pistol to pistol (even same model)? What is always worn off is though the upper part of barrel chamber.

Nice channel. Can you help me out. I have a G19(gen4) and love it. I really want this P226 MK25 $969 out the door(or the Combat) but also considering a Glock 30. I live in CA so I figure why get the G21 if it can only legally hold 10. That's why I figure the G30 I like how the size is similar to G19. Can you compare shooting them? Would you save for the P226 or get the G30? Thanks. Have you seen Lone Survivor? Its an AEWSOM movie.

fordxbgtfalcon that's a good deal. The SRT kits are about $50 plus your time installing it. I have to order two! One for the 226 and one for a P220 Combat. Shot one with the SRT kit at the local range a few weeks back and it does make a significant difference. The DA pull was lighter and the SA also was lighter by perhaps 1/2 lb so right about 4#s SA. But for follow up shots it's a big advantage. I think the Elite models come with the SRT kit already installed. I'll add that if the grips are too big Hogue has an answer! the Extreme line is more narrow and more square in the back, not as rounded. Supposedly it makes it easier to shoot accurately if you don't have big hands.

Chris Lau They are absolutely fantastic, it is pretty well known that one of the only 'downsides' is the price. This would be a sweet addition to your arsenal. Look up police trade-ins in your area, the really good ones get snatched up quick but they have Sigs for anywhere from $499 to $899

Was surprise to hear you say the Glock 19 flips less. With an all metal gun, I would think the added weight would balance the pistol out more and make for smoother recoil. I haven 'to shot mine yet, but this pistol just seems so above and beyond the Glock in terms of feel, quality and I hear accuracy also.

I own a glock 19, two 17's, a beretta m9 railed, and a 92fs. Shot my buddies Px4 storm many times. By all means these guns are phenomenal. Glock more reliable than beretta. But in no way shape or form is any standard gun more reliable and premium than a Sig Mk25. I have two and they both have 10,000+ rounds through them. NOT ONE FAILURE. My glocks fail rarely but never have I owned a gun through 10,000 rounds that has been perfect. The Mk25 has! I'd like to know your'e experience with the guns?
