Although I'm primarily a 9mm user, I got this gun recently as a backup when I go hunting, in case a hog or something charges at me. My primary weapon is a .308 rifle. Being able to switch from your hunting rifle to a pistol with 10+ rounds of .45 or 10mm for close encounters with dangerous animals is really great, I haven't used it yet but it's nice to know I'm protected

Honestly it's one of the best pistols I've ever shot.

Well, this review of the 30s was exactly what I needed. The 30s will probably be my first pistol when I turn 21.

good choice like a shotgun in yer hand. my firs gun was a glizzalk 27. very good gun till the cops got it. dont store shit at yer moms house.

For me the 30s is the perfect gun.

The 30S has the slimmer slide and short frame. When you held it next to the G29 you can notice it, the difference is taken from the back of grip to the undercut of trigger guard. So essentially there’s 3 different variants. G30, G30SF, G30S(w/ sf frame)

Nice review. Thank you. I currently carry a G30 for EDC. I don't know if it would be worth the expense to "upgrade" to the "S" model. I'll have to see if my local shop has one.

Never had a 45, had one in the army, but always opted for 19 & 22. The 45 was too expensive for just shooting. But always wanted one to carry if they got it reasonable for my big hands. The grip on this is perfect. That little extension on the magazine was genius. You will have to learn to shoot all over with this big recoil...if you are not used to shooting a 45. It's back to basics for sure. But after a couple of trips you will master it like the 19 or 22. I love it.

Sir, I looked at your video and I see the height of Slide/Dust cover of the G30 to the G19 is higher (top of the slide to the bottom of the dust cover)? Is the so?

I was at the glockstore asking about the 30. The guy brings out all 3 models. I got the original 30 gen.4 - but I want the 30s too for better holster options.

If you want the 30 S to fit those other holsters warm holsters carefully with your propane torch then fit the 30 inside. Wallow the holster with a firm grip on the pistol grip while holster is still hot. BTW THX the 30 S would be perfect for close quarters combat. Will it handle +P?

Have you compared the Shield to the Kahr CM9 or CW9 ? I like the Shield too but carry the CM9 cause it's smaller, especially in the grip length which matter to me the most.

I think Ill buy the higher capacity mags for glock in 45auto now Until I figure out if I'm going to want the 30gen4,the 30sf or the 30s. I know the high capacity mags will fit all the 30variations I just need to find out 1.Will the 30s slimmer slide and thinner barrel cost me that 1in at 25yard accuracy and 2. If a glock 45auto can be converted to 10mm are they going to make the 10mm with a slimmer slide and barrel for the 30s conversion.

Nice review and I notice it was done over 6 years ago, so I will leave this comment for anyone who is looking at the G30S for the first time in this time frame (Summer of 2019) - The G30 is not the platform on which the G30S is based. The G30 uses the "standard frame". The G30S uses the G30SF "short frame". The "slim slide" from the G36 was put on the SF frame and thus was born the G30S . Note the "SF" stamp on the right side of the G30S frame. That difference is 1/8" and it makes a huge difference for most shooters in getting a good solid grip and shortening the reach to the trigger.

@@b.h.7430 Yes, if you're only talking about the slide the G30S is slimmer and a lighter over all than the G30SF. The "S" stands for Slim referring to the slide meaning that it uses the slim G36 slide. The SF refers to the frame only and it's stamped "SF" on the right side of the frame. The G30S frame is the same exact SF frame as on the G30SF. So... the full designation is G30S SF

Mas Ayoob said he's seen the 30 shoot 1inch 5shot group at 25yards. He said its a smaller group than the 21shoots. He also said the 36slim slide he has not seen do as well as a 30. Question? Will the 30s shoot the 1inch groups at 25yards or is the slim slide going to cause a loss of accuracy? Could someone do a test with a ransom rest and produce an accuracy test. I really want that 1inch accuracy. I hope I can have it with a slimmer slide. Also the 30,30sf and 30s will take a 13round mag.

One more comment, that 30s has that really nice finish too. That sparkly bastard will wear better than any older Glock. The gen 5 ndlc is wearing really well too. But that older style slide finish is hard, great hand gun bro.

grip width is important to me also. I have medium large cadet hands. the cadet is the key. fingers are shorter as well as my thumb. a lot of double stack semi-autos cause me greif

Does the 30S have an SF frame or the standard Glock 30 frame?

A excellent video on the glock 30s better than a 1911 and less money easy to clean and take apart 10 shots of 45acp parts easy to get if you could find one buy it they are hard to find 🇦🇹💯👍

I added a tungsten guide rod. Tamed the snap from the diet the slide went on...

I also want to here if the thinner slide and barrel give up any of the extreme accuracy of the other 30's. You cant do all the conversions with the s slide and barrel, at least not yet.

I bought it most definitely. The only thing I truly need is talon grips. Otherwise this pistol is absolutely perfect.

So it seems to be pretty much a glock 19-sized 45acp. I like it a lot.

i don't think they're going to make any more gen 4's man. i'm waiting for a fuckin gen 5 .45 of any sort...

I'm sure they will...and I'll probably buy it. I much prefer the grip and feel of the gen 4 models.

the 30s should ship with talon grips, it tames the recoil a lot.

So I’m going to play devils advocate here. So the 30s and the regular 30 have the same frame but the slide is thinner on the 30s. However, from what I’ve seen, when I look for holsters for the 30 or the 30s they say it uses the same holster. So if I’m going to conceal it the slide width doesn’t matter because the holster is going to be the same on both guns, right? So other than the weight, what’s the advantage?

I had a standard 30 and recently sold it to buy a 30 SF which I like better... I've looked at the 30 S but they were too much more money that the 30 SF I bought... Also the thicker heavier slide makes for less recoil if you like to shoot more...

No. The slide is too narrow.

I didn't need it. I just wanted it. I think that is how most of our gun purchases. This should also be a T-shirt

You should get a G19. it's the Glock sweet spot for newbies to Glock. It's my daily carry also

I have owned five Glocks and a number of Sigs. This is the best concealed carry gun I have ever come across.

i have to agree with you on two things you can never have to many glocks. and hickok is awesome.

You think a Blackhawk serpa holster for a model 19, or 23 will fit the 30s?? Have heard that they possibly would. In need of a left handed duty holster for the 30s pretty quick.

+John hart I got a Desantis thumb break scabbard and it fits the 30s fine. The Blackhawk for the 30 will be a loose fit for the 30s.

I use my Glock 22 holster for my glock 30S, there's a little space at the end of the barrel but there's no wiggle.
