Hands-On with the Holosun SCS

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

The Red Dot Optic market is very competitive and it's difficult for a company to set themself apart… but Holosun has seemed to crack the code. They continue to innovate with each product they release! The new Holosun SCS, that fits the Glock® MOS footprint, is sleek, attractive and very functional. we have no doubt that it's going to be a HOT selling item!
This is our Item #20260 and you can find it here:

  • @erics2091

    @erics2091

    3 ай бұрын

    @@garoristicJust came across this a year later but, the SCS MOS includes an intensity override function which locks the optic into a high brightness mode… for 30 minutes. So useful at the range or if you do find it in a situation where you need to have it high, it’s a simple button press (if you train with it, it’ll be second nature like anything else with your firearm). The only downside I see to this auto-adjust is in a dark/night situation. Your surroundings are dark so it goes to a low light. But chances are your target is in light or why else are you shooting (into darkness). With an illuminated target by street light or your weapon light it can be hard to see. However with the SCS MOS it will auto co witness with standard iron sights. So just use your irons in that situation. If you even have time to think and are not just point shooting using your own muscle memory. I think the pros out way the really only con, unless you count $400 into it, but if you have bad eye sight an optic really helps and when it comes to saving your own life. $400 isn’t a bad price to pay. Other options out there. But no battery, never running out of battery power, no need for mod plates, no need to adjust grip or hand/eye presentation, improves accuracy (but any red dot should help with that over irons). Hope this helps if you or anyone else is considering. They do make this for other models of pistols. This one is the SCS MOS for Glocks specifically so be careful when ordering online to get the right model.

    I was at your Nashville store this past week. I had a great experience. I was left alone to roam around without anyone staring me down or being pushy like at other stores. When I needed someone to help me get something behind the counter a store employee came walking around and answered all of my newbie questions (I'm new to glock). The sales person was very patient with my inexperience and informative. I had a great experience. They'll leave you alone if you want and are helpful and knowledgeable if you ask. 👍. Perfect!

    I have the G45, gen 5 , MOS and mounted the Holesun SCS about 7 months ago. Thousands of round through it. Everything Lenny's said is correct . Perfect fit. It has never not worked even after a week in the dark. The only complaint is the button that changes reticle between the dot and circle Is difficult to push. It take a little effort to change. I imagine it would only get worse with larger fingers. For target shooting i like the dot for close shots and the circle for 30 yards or more. At 30 yards the dot covers to much of the target. Using the circle at 30 yards I place the target in the middle of the circle. For self defense either would work great . I love it that the glock store is no longer in California.

    Saw the promo email about this about an hour ago and ordered right away! I just bought a 17 MOS Gen 5 in June and paired it with the Holosun HE507C but got too giddy over the thought of a direct drop in optic. The doomsday prep side of my brain is a little apprehensive about it being strictly solar powered but the upside is an unobstructed iron sight. Really glad this optic uses a green dot like my current one, way easier to zero in on with my right eye astigmatism. Thanks for the awesome demo video!

Furthermore I agree that there are advantages to the optic sitting as low as possible on the slide, however point-ability is not one of them. To me point-ability is how naturally the gun aligns with the desired point of impact due to the gun's ergonomics.

    I'm curious as to how robust the hood on the Holosun is. With my RMR I can rack the slide with the heel of my boot (or with the eye socket of an adversary) if I need to clear a malfunction with one hand. My slide was milled by Suarez International and they installed suppressor sights so the RMR co-witnesses plus I can still aim with a suppressor.

    I played with one yesterday where I work and was very impressed. I have been told that my local police department will convert to the G-45/SCS combination... You can also use conventional irons thru the SCS.

    Thank you for breaking this down for us, Lenny. I'm a repeat customer for Holosun products. I have a concern, though; because I live in a state with restrictive firearm laws, my G29 barely sees the light of day. I think I may have to stick to solar+battery units.

    Still think the solar thing might be fringing in gimmickery, but! That hasn't stopped me from seriously considering purchasing one of these. I just don't think the solar thing is viable, considering most of the time this thing will likely be kept in very dark places - gun safe, holster covered by shirt/coat, etc. I love the ability to co-witness with the iron sights, so that is a game changer. I hope Holosun will consider making a variant without the solar charging. The more components, the more things break.

    what size MOA dot is it? How long does it take the capacitor to charge fully and how long does it keep that charge? Once its charged, is it on constantly or only when movement activates it? All important questions, I think.

    Unfortunately, there are an increasing number of reports that the SCS units don't stay charged for very long. Most EDC guns don't see much daylight, because they are either under your cover garment or in a drawer/safe. After a few months (NOT 20,000 hours) it goes dark, and recharging takes FOREVER. When Holosun gets it working as advertised, I am totally getting one! But, today is not that day.

    @@DavidLLambertmobile I respect Sage Dynamics' report. That guy wouldn't lie about an optic's performance. However, the issue isn't happening in the majority of the units; but, it's happening frequently enough that it's worth it to me to wait to get one.
