As a retired LEO, I never owned a Glock until nine year after I retired. The first was a G22. When I bought my G30 I had already rented and shot one...when I went to purchase it in another city, I held the G30s and the G30sf...went back to the G30 standard...shot it yesterday...tight groups at 7 yards...combat distance.

First off, thank you for service. 🙏🏾 2nd, I’m familiar with the G30 and G30S. I’ve never seen a designation for a G30SF. Would you mind detailing your experience with the S and SF? Is there a difference in capacity? Are the barrel lengths the same? Appreciate any more details you’re willing to share! Thank you!

@@davidcoleman1861 David, the only experience I've had with the 30S and 30SF is holding them in the store. I did not care for the feel of either pistol. Firearms are just like any other tool. What feels good to me may not feel right for you. If the pistol naturally points for me, I will shoot it well. It's my opinion a shooter should not have to adjust different guns to shoot them well. If it doesn't fit your hand and doesn't point well, put it back in the display case despite how neat it looks and how others feel about it. Very subjective subject

The 30S is a Gen3 gun. Gen3 guns all had smaller mag release buttons. It has nothing to do with the Short Frame designation. The 30S is essentially a Glock 36 slide on a Glock 30 frame. The 30S has not been produced as a Gen4 gun.

Thank you for that! I’ve been in the market for another .45ACP compact EDC. I currently have an XDS MOD2 .45 ACP in my rotation for the warmer months, amongst others. I’ve really been considering adding a G30S to the rotation for the PNW winters. My primary’s now are G23C and Staccato CS. Appreciate your input!

@@davidcoleman1861 I wouldn't recommend the G36 at all. First, Your holster needs to fit the frame size, not the slide. So your footprint will be the same as a standard G30. Second, the grip texture on the Gen3 guns was super slippery compared to Gens 4 and 5.

You make a great video! Thank you! One also praises your range design, behind high hills. Very safe from misdirected discharges.

That surface is gonna scratch those pistols up…

Would you mind giving me your feedback on the SF and explain the difference b/w G30S and G30SF? Any info is appreciated!

I've never shot both side by side so if you say the 30s has a bit more recoil I have to believe you. I EDC a G30s and love it. I think it is a soft shooter and it hides well on my belt. An extra magazine or two makes this a great carry choice.

It’s barely noticeable. Agreed 2-13 rnd mags. Also Agee it’s a smooth shooter for sure.

Just fyi- the gen 4 g30 is also an SF frame. So the stippling is different but the dimensions are the exact same

I carry a Glock 30S using the same magazine from a Glock 21SF with 13 rounds plus one in the chamber. I have my service Glock 21SF from retirement.

What kind of sights do u have in the Glock 30 ? I like the black in back wit Red up front

I believe they’re the Trijicon Bright and Toughs. They make them in all different colors.

The sf is a shorter frame than the original 3rd gen, same trigger reach as the gen 4 without an added backstrap.

I got a glock 30sf is that like the in between of these two? It says glock 30 but on the other side says sf

Yes. I believe you have a Gen 3. The Gen 4s are SFs (short frames) by default and the only difference is the grip texture. The S on mine is for the slimmer slide. You’ll love it.

I don’t have one for the Gen4, but my Gen3 fits in an old 19 holster, Bulldog I believe. It’s cheap but it works!

I can`t tell the difference both are great

Ok so their actually 3 Glocks The S Slim Slide. SF Slim Frame & 30 Full frame. I think I want the 30 because the drum magazines fit in it.

So if i get a Glock 21 mag or any glock 30 mag, it will fit my 30S? I’ve been trying to find a mag that holds more than the standard 10+1 for my 30S, Pls help??

Correct! The G21 13-rnd mags and the G30 10-rnd mags will fit the G30s. I Go with the 13-rnd mags with the XGrips, you’ll be happy!

@@jamesrichardson63When I purchased the pistol, the guy that sold it to me gave me three Glock 13 rnd mags that had the x-grips already on them. I’ve seen them on EBay for like $16. I’m sure you could also go to Gunmag Warehouse and find them too.

Is the G30S and G30SF the same glock?..also is there a 15 rd mag for the G30?..I’m interested in buying one but I’m not sure which one I want.

No, they’re different according to Glock’s website. My S is a SF though. As far as I know, their highest capacity .45ACP mags are 13rnd. I don’t think Glock makes a 15rnd mag in .45.

Most should, just be cautious of the slide width on the 30s.

When I bought my g21 I made sure it was fs model

I love the 30s, it's a sweet shooter. Only issue is my pinky finger gets pinched between the frame and the magazine, while shooting.

The .45 is so slow you can see them go down range! Have you tried to put the 30s slide on the gen4 frame?

The ghetto bird , really. The difference between these two firearms is this. Glock 30s SF is the slide is thin the second thing is the trigger reach is shorter. The Glock 30 gen 4 if that’s what you have is . All gen 4s are basically SF pistols but also give you back straps where your Glock 30s SF does not have .

Yes the short frame came up before the gen 4. Gen 3 G30 has a larger grip.

I was shipping a gat recently i check out the the 30 they didn't have a 30S for me to get a side by side. The 30 didn't feel bulky much in hand but i know on person it's thick. I need the 30S ASAP!

I'm waiting for Glock to come out with the G30 gen5 for lefties.

I see your point, but for me I'll never need a left handed gun, I assume you'll never need a right handed gun lol. May be a while, I finally bought a glock 30 gen 3 yesterday and know that it can't be switched but I'll never need it switched. Banking on someone else needing my gun for survival that's opposite hand is absurd but if needed I'm sure they could make it happen.

Smh! 😡 No need to do that these days when many brands are more lefty friendly. I have a custom made lefthanded 1911. The ejection port is on the left side of the piece. My Mossberg 590A1L (lefty) ejects to the left as well. I love'em! 🙌🏾 So, I buy what I want. It's called OPTIONS! 🤣😂👊🏾😎

I’ve got the 26 and it’s too thick for edc. I like 45acp so this may be an option.

Check out the 48 or 43x if you haven’t already. Also I think Glock is coming out with a Gen5 Glock 30 MOS. That would be worth waiting for it it comes to premonition.

The 30S is only made in Gen 3. You're wrong about the magazine release being that way to accommodating the SF frame. The Glock 30 Gen 4 frame is the same depth as the Gen 3 SF frames. Just different texture, backstrap system, and larger magazine release.

Texture is the difference between the various generations. SF is Short Frame. Shorter distance from the undercut (trigger guard) to the back strap. Shorter trigger reach.

Take the Xgrips off. You're not supposed to touch the magazine when gripping the gun. It's a nice concept but really dumb execution. Just begging for a malfunction. Learn to shoot with middle and ring finger grip.

Every dimension is the exact same. You can even call Glock and ask and they’ll tell you themselves. It was a marketing term for the .45 basically saying the 30 is a slim .45 compared to the 21. But the dimensions of the Glock 30 and Glock 30SF is the exact same. Same for the 30s. They all the same exact dimensions. Either way glock 30 is a solid choice. I carry a Glock 29 wit 15 round mags as an edc.
