One theory that I think makes sense, that when during the preamble to a feud Vampiro called out Randy in promo highlighting the age difference between him and his then parter Gorgeous George but being Vampiro (who even called Hogan Terry) he used her real name Stephanie, ironically Stephanie Bellows left Randy for Doyle of the Misfits which ended the feud between Randy and Vampiro prematurely. But people forget that there was more than one Stephanie in wrestling and Vampiro wasn't talking about Billion Dollar Princess. But that would be why the rumour got hot around the same time WWE released a Vampiro DVD (which they never paid him for) As for why Randy never went back there are two things I've heard. One was Bishoff who pointed out that for the first few years WCW didn't pay Randy, SlimJim paid Randy's wages and paid WCW for using Randy. So that was a lot of money that Randy took away from Vince. Piper told a story that Hogan and Randy went to have a friendly chat with Vince about the Nachoman and the Hickster stuff which ended with Randy knocking Vince on his arse in a restaurant that was shy he was never back.

Here's the actual story: - Triple H does an interview in which he's asked about the guys like Savage, and says "yeah they were great but they're dinosaurs, it's my time now". -Randy was a big fan of H and this really hurt his feelings. He took the "dinosaur" line personal because the reason Vince made him retire was that he was "too old to draw", and Randy hasn't gotten a call since WCW closed due to the way he left. -Randy, in true carny fashion, decides to cut a worked shoot on Trips to try and get himself back in the company, and as a measure of revenge, makes it personal by saying he would take Stephanie from H. - From here on out, no one pushed to get Randy back with the company because they knew the top 3 most important people (Vince/Steph/H) didn't even wanna hear that name, and remember, unlike Hulk, Vince didn't see Randy as still having money left in him. Why do you think EVERY actual worker who's asked about it says "I didn't even hear about this until recently"? Because the story wasn't around back when it would have happened. The only people who talk like it happened are writers who would have no clue, and Meltzer who is just having fun pouring gas on an open flame. And if Randy really fucked Steph, he would have said more than just "I'll take your girl" to Trips; he would have said something like "just ask your wife how Macho I am". Go watch interviews with Randy from 2000, he talks candidly about wanting to get back in the then-WWF and says that's the reason he won't go back to WCW. He's smart enough to know that would never happen if he had fucked Vince's daughter. IT DIDN'T HAPPEN. LET IT DIE.

There is a little bit more to it. Right around the time the HHH comments happened, Savage was negotiating with TNA. He took it the way he did because he thought it was aimed directly at him and it was potentially damaging him. Right around the same time as the HHH comments and the savage response, the steph rumor blog post appears. The story should have died ten years ago.

savage was blackballed by the wwe from both ends. he was blackballed by vince because he left without notice. vince is okay if you leave as as long as you give him a heads up. he found out when savage didnt show up for raw. also they did ask savage to come back, but he held out a massive grudge over the nacho man skits and how the mistreated his father.

Not true. Macho loved the Nacho skits and said he'd feel left out had they not made the skits as it would have been a signal that he was not a threat to WWF. The father thing was regarding him wanting his father and brother inducted with him.. Vince only wanted him.

The story originated in 2004 on the Death Valley Driver message boards. People were competing with each other trying to come up with the worst wrestling rumor they could think of. Ironically, the Stephanie story started with the user calling himself "Rip Rogers" saying : "I heard a rumour about Stephanie and Bruce Pritchard when she was younger." Another guy calling himself "G. Gordon Liddy" responded: "Macho had his way with Stephanie (she was about 14 then) back in 94/95 and that Vince found out and that was the true ending for Macho Man in WWF. Makes sense as the gent never was asked back or has been really showcased in those nostalgia video packages they do from time to time." The entire thread was full of made-up garbage. But the macho man thing started getting discussed in other places and it spread across the internet from there. The story took off because lots of people were wondering why Randy Savage never went back to the WWE. There is no evidence of the story circulating anywhere before 2004. The original messages (which I quoted above) are archived at: web.archive.org/web/20050308041405/board.deathvalleydriver.com/index.php?showtopic=19896&view=all

Jim Tuner Here's the problem you're gonna have with that logic. In 1994-5, she wasn't about 14. Being born in 1976, she would have been 18/19 then, so even if it DID happen - which I seriously doubt - she wouldn't have been underage.

I always hear the "everyone comes back, but Randy never did" argument, but he did an advert for the WWE All Stars video game just before he died, so he was clearly back on speaking terms with the company. Also, video game ads are a popular method WWE use mends bridges before bringing them in (Sting and Warrior both come to mind), so I have no doubt he would have had a legends contract if he was still alive

I think the reason Savage never came back is because unlike Bret, Bruno, Warrior, Hogan and others, Vince was the one who got screwed over in his mind. When Savage wanted out Vince probably felt that Randy was abandoning ship when he really needed him the most, Bret and Taker were unproven long term, Jake and Davey were unreliable, Sid was in and out of the company seemingly every two years, Shawn and Razor were upper mid card at best, Roddy Piper was more or less gone from wrestling. Randy was the last real star Vince still had on the payroll and Savage wanted out.

What I think really happened was that the rumor has substance in this way: I think Randy covered for Stephanie or busted her in some way, and Vince wasn't going to punish his princess. He always punishes others.. even his son Shane... before he thinks of penalizing Stephanie.. and Savage most likely said something on the way out that Vince didn't want to hear.
