Hall and Nash had a favored nation in their contract. That doesn't mean they were guaranteed to be the highest paid guys in the company. It just meant that they could pick ten guys and if any of the guys they picked started working for WCW and got more money than Hall and Nash, then WCW would have to match the money so they wouldn't get paid more than Hall and Nash. I believe Sting and Hogan were the only ones allowed to get paid more than Hall and Nash.

They came in earning more than Sting and they were smart and would’ve selected ten top guys who would’ve been likely to get the most money if they were to jump. WCW never went bankrupt. AOL-Time Warner took Turner out of power and didn’t want wrestling on their networks. Nash wasn’t the booker when Goldberg lost the title. Bischoff made that call because the streak had gotten stale and there was no one left for Goldberg to beat. FPOD happened because Hogan wanted the title back and Goldberg was getting booed. Nitro had been losing the ratings since October (with Goldberg as champ). Foley didn’t win the title until January. Nitro ratings went UP after Foley and the FPOD. They didn’t drop off until 4 months later when Goldberg, Hogan, Lugar, and Hall were all out injured. The nwo dissolved. Jericho left for WWF. And WCW changed their logo and set trying to mimic WWF.

@@dildonius Bret was a worker bro. When you're a worker it doesn't matter if you're the Undertaker. If the boss says drop the belt, you drop the belt. Bret wanted to be the boss when he had no grounds for being the boss. It's not really the "screwjob". It's Vince making an example out of Bret for insubordination. The good thing about wrestling is that personal problems generate revenue. This was a double edged sword for the WWE.

Bischoff felt that he would not have known what to do with Shawn, but listen to Kevin Sullivan. Sullivan even said, had they had shawn, that would've been the end of wwe, and even said he would've let shawn DO WHAT HE WANTED meaning creative control like hogan, because like Sullivan said- this guy has the best matches, so how do you tell someone whom has the best matches what to do? And to think how Shawn would've gone there and had the match that didn't happen in wwe- HBK VS MACHO MAN! = money. Shawn was more money than bret. just think about the possibilities Shawn vs Macho Man = MONEY Shawn Vs Ric Flair = MONEY Shawn Vs EDDIE GUERRERO (dream match #2 = money) Shawn vs Chris Benoit = dream match # 3 = MONEY SHAWN MICHAELS vs STING = MONEY Shawn michaels vs BOOKER T = MONEY and he can do yet another ladder match against - SCOTT HALL = money! Shawn Vs Jericho = money those were possibilities wcw could've done without even having HOGAN involved and all being match of the year Canditates Bret was on a different level and what bret wanted was to go right to face HOgan, for the title, and wcw denied that and put bret on the sidelines because hogan wasn't having anything to do with it. And again I love bret dearly and he is one of the best but those matches listed the only money matches bret would've had from that list was Bret Vs Flair and Bret vs Sting. WHich had already happened. After that there was nothing much else to do with bret. Shawn had those possibilities, Vince knew that, that's why vince made that choice to let bret go over shawn when Shawn was the one that wanted to go and bret didn't. Especially that match with MACHO MAN that vince FORBIDDED to have there was no way vince was going to let shawn go over bret.

Would there have been the show stopper, the icon, the main event? Most likely not… WCW did not know how to run a wrestling program, and as others have said he would’ve ended up in the cruiserweight division and never been on top again. What if Vince had fired Shawn? I would go on a limb and say his Wikipedia wouldn’t say IS it would say WAS

WCW Nitro was a rated R / MA show for adults compared to WWE Raw right now... My parents used to think WCW was too violent. And the drama during the shows felt very real, unlike today. It didn't seem like they were trying to be kid friendly. Only thing that was missing was the puppies and blood (which came later in 99) Other than that the drama and wrestling looked real. WCW never would say it was entertainment. This was also before everyone had internet so most kids believed it was all real that it wasn't just a show
