*Some facts about the double-cross:* -Bret Hart's contract wasn't up until December 1st, Survivor Series was on November 9th (meaning Hart could not legally show up on Nitro the night after SS) -During their backstage conversion at SS that night McMahon never once aske Bret to lose to Michaels -Bret offered to lose the belt to anyone aside from Michaels after SS at a major MSG house show, or at the December PPV in a Fatal-Four-Way match -Bret's lawyer sent a letter to McMahon stating he'd love to lose the belt specifically to Steve Austin

Bret had refused to lose to anybody in Canada. It’s even documented on his documentary. He turned in notice a week before SS. The issue is more so that WCW can announce they’ve signed the WWF Champion and the impact is there so show they’re premier and WWF isn’t. I don’t love what they did to Bret but in the end he was being petty.

I love Conrad's surprise about Vince's Bret screwed Bret interview. He clearly wanted to get the people behind the company and it completely backfired. It was obvious to me as an 11 year old at the time but also I trusted Vince to use that heat well. Random comparison but those who remember the original formation of the New Day and how much the babyface gimmick was hated. So Jim Ross confirmed that Brett was willing to drop the title to guys like the undertaker, stone cold Steve Austin, Vader, Ken Shamrock and a few others. Moreover, Brad should not have shown up in WCW the next night which he did not do. If Brad could have appeared in WCW the next night, like Rick rude, he would have. Brett couldn’t do so because he had a 30 day no compete clause so he had to wait at least 30 days before appearing on WCW tv

When you hear WWE officials, tell their side of the story, it kind of sounds like they defend bad choices that they make, but I will say this after the last two years of listening to both Bruce Prichards and Eric Bischoff’s podcast, Bruce has more credibility than Bischoff every time I listen to that guy talk. He’s just a complete moron and pretends like he didn’t know what was going on and like WCW didn’t really give him full control of what was going on He’s the biggest bullshitter in wrestling history he pretty much screwed Bret in the WCW just like Vince screwed him in the WWE

The whole concern over Bret taking the belt to WCW with him is absolute BS - they could have just taken the belt from Bret after the show so that WWE has possession of it. I know that usually the champion travels with the belt but there’s no law that says they HAVE to, that’s just how WWE typically does it, and this being an exceptional circumstance, they could have just taken possession of it to make sure it didn’t go to WCW. I can’t believe that anyone buys this nonsense honestly, it is so stupid

You know guys like Bret all buy belts to display in their house, right? If he walks out as champ, even if they take it, he can show up on nitro with a personal belt and claim to still be WWF champion. If he loses, there's no point in him doing such a thing. If he showed up on Nitro with the belt it would have been HUGE! Way bigger deal than Madusa doing it.

Michaels says point blank that he despised Bret and deep down he just wanted Bret to tell him he was good.
