BOAT RAGE !! CAPTAIN LOSES HIS TEMPER AT HAULOVER INLET! BOAT ZONE

Ойын-сауық

Haulover Inlet in Florida is a popular spot for experienced boaters seeking a thrill. Known for its challenging conditions and strong currents, the inlet connects the Atlantic Ocean to the Intracoastal Waterway and is famous for its rough waves and strong winds, which can make boating hazardous. Despite the risks, many boaters are drawn to the inlet's challenging conditions and the opportunity to navigate through it.

@@captaingoody The jet ski crowd is the rudest group of clueless clowns on the water; circling my boat to impress me to a PU truck squeezing in between two boats launching or retrieving. I asked one of the clowns if they had good insurance; they looked clueless, what was I saying? There is a roped-off swim area at the lake and a couple summers ago one jet ski lost control while stunting, jumped the barrier, and ran over a young swimmer. PS so now we have a Sheriff patrol boat and jet ski, yes you read it right a boat and jet ski with lights... 😆

From the conditions of the water, I feel the person in the water may have been at more risk if the boat would have assisted. I realize that the “rough” conditions are a great playground for the jet ski crowd, but they also have to considerate of the larger vessels.

This is why i've said MANY times before. These jet ski's should NOT be allowed in the inlet. They like riding the waves or the wakes from these large boats. But the reality is they present a hazard not only for a captain trying to traverse this rough inlet. But now also avoid a collision and potential injury or fatality on these jet skiers. Get them out of the inlet...!!!

One thing to remember is that as a captain, as soon as you latch onto and assist a vessel you now assume liability for that vessel and it's crew. That said, it was wise for the captain of the sportfisher to not assist the jet skier(s). Given the conditions and a narrow inlet he would be putting his boat, his crew in danger and assume the risk for the jet skiers. The best he can do is call baywatch or whatever lifeguard service is in that area. That's their job as a government agency.

  • @kenpatton8761

Apparently most of the private water craft owners, boats and wave runners, don’t have to attend a US Coast Guard class on boating safety or operation. The charter captain has to successfully complete the class to obtain his license. There are “rules” of navigation and “right of way” while operating a vessel on the water just like when you drive a car. The abandoned wave runners should have been called in to the police and the Coast Guard as navigation obstacles. Stay safe out there…..

If every boat passing by a tourist who fell off of a ski in the inlet, the boat traffic would constantly be backed up. She was having minor difficulty climbing back on a ski. No one was drowning. She could've easily held on to the back of the ski while the operator moved them to a safer location. I've never been accused of being a genius but I know better than to play around where there is high speed boat traffic all day long

I can see both sides. The jet skis are so low in the water and are screwing around right at the high speed end of the inlet. When they dump, they are just like little people playing on the freeway. Very hard to see. The boats are moving at high speed in both directions. It's real easy to lose sight of something in the water when the bow is bouncing up and down. Eventually, someone will drown or get de-capitated by a prop. The result? Personal watercraft can transit the inlet at the speed limit, but can't play. All boats will be kept to 10 mph with a water cop posted there for a very long time. Take care of your own business or someone else will be very happy to do it for you.

Yep not enough room for him to manoeuvre, was his crew capable of effective rescue? There were other jet skis better placed to assist. The woman was obviously tired from immersion her skipper had poor judgement and the guy that jumped in did the only sensible thing.

The inlet is not a play area. The fools on the jet skis remind me of neighborhood kids, running around in the street, jumping out in front of moving vehicles, running out from behind parked cars......all the while the parents allow them to do it. Then when one of the kids gets hit and killed by a car, the car driver is held responsible.

No. The captain of the charter boat should NOT have stopped and helped. They were not in an emergency situation and stopping that giant sport boat at the mouth of the channel would've put many more ppl in danger. Ppl on skis (especially renters) should stay away from the inlet

They need a special radio channel so boaters can help police say jet ski’s are stopping a playing n swimming blocking the channel. The police needs to sitting near by tied up. take boat tags on file then if stopped again ticket/fine get warned once.
