BOAT SINKING?? FAMILY IN PANIC MODE AT HAULOVER INLET | BOAT ZONE
Ойын-сауық
Haulover Inlet in Florida is a popular spot for experienced boaters seeking a thrill. Known for its challenging conditions and strong currents, the inlet connects the Atlantic Ocean to the Intracoastal Waterway and is famous for its rough waves and strong winds, which can make boating hazardous. Despite the risks, many boaters are drawn to the inlet's challenging conditions and the opportunity to navigate through it.

That first boat almost sank. The captain appeared inexperienced and the boat was overloaded. That was evident every time someone moved and it would lean way over. He needs to take the captain course to learn how to handle that boat.

The extreme lean looked less related to folks moving around and rather seemed to me evidence of a lot of water under the deck. Once he got the boat turned around, he at least kept it under control long enough for the bilge pump to do its job.

A captains license does not replace experience and coaching. Merchant Mariner Credentials are only given to people who can prove years and many hrs of experience. I only point this out because, there is no "captain course". And if there is, its a scam. Nothing replaces years on a boat under the supervision of a seasoned captain.

Headed tward capsize. It was lolling with all the free surface. Most of these production center consoles do not get water out fast enough after stuffing the bow. Most also are not watertight decks--far from it. So you get free surface on deck AND in the bilge. They get very dangerous. They are not real boats. Toys.

Every captain should know when is slack tide times are. For that inlet smaller boats should be crossed on slack tide. Knowing your tides is a must on any waterways that is effected but the moon cycle.. The captain of that boat has a lot to learn how the seas work. I've been saying this on boatzone for a while that ever boat operator must do a course on boating, know your rules and know your tides.
Those midnight express boats seem to do rather well
6:00 NX boats from Brazil
The first boat I’m not understanding what’s going on there. Big stability issues. Then the whole rear was so buried it appeared that the entire engines were under water. It’s not like anyone was worried and trying to bailout any water. So that doesn’t appear to be the issue.
10 out off 10 for the drone pilots!

At least the kids had life jackets on.
Open bow vessels (bow riders) are at far, far, far greater risk of taking on water and sinking than are closed bow vessels in surf waves. It is every vessel's Captain who has the obligation, responsibility and duty to balance the passenger load in his vessel and to operate their vessel at a safe speed for the conditions on the water. The vessel was in danger of sinking in this video because the Skipper was totally clueless about safely operating his vessel.
@Chris_de_S

Boats generally do not sink Sam - but they do fill with water.
The Scout captain should not have had people in the bow going out of the inlet especially in following seas. It was not about to sink, just unbalanced. Following seas are tough and not easy for novices and even experienced captains.
I would speculate the boat at 1:39, listing side to side, has a hold full of water, although it also appears to be overloaded. It seems to me that boaters at Hauover are some of the most clueless I have ever seen; The ramp videos aren't any better regarding skills. @@jamesw.6931 yes open bows are scoops but if there is enough angle (sheer) to the cockpit sole, the water will run aft and out the scuppers. People are clueless literally. The passengers have *no idea* about boats. They've been invited by the owner who also has *no idea* about the sea. So match made in heaven. The boat's design encourages foolishness: capacious forward "seating area" and people just go up there. Seems perfect to them. No engine noise. They can see the sights better, feel the breeze. All good--until the inlet or some seas...but mr. "boater" at the helm doesn't know to call them aft. And there isn't seating back there. These boats are stupid. So many useless boats with shiny gelcoat, tons of "features" but terrible design.
