The flying female @ 0:5 with no life vest. Some should remain on Terra Firma, providing content for the road channels. Just think, what would have taken place had a speedster in his multi-million-dollar fast boat entered the inlet when the flying female went overboard? Watching your channel from rain-soaked WA; with my watercraft in my shop serviced fueled and waxed. I enjoy your channel; it serves as a guide for what not to do...😉

A competent captain would understand the limitations of his boat and not even go out in those conditions. Then again its Miami, you have better chance of winning the Power Ball than finding a competent pleasure boat captain there.

The problem is, it's just like a car. People I've watched in these videos are holding beers and cellphones and lazing around like they are in a limo. They are totally unaware of the 10 to 12 foot drop they are about to experience.

@@jpatt85 They are all clueless. 1. Letting people sit up front is a bad idea, they'll get thrown in the air and possibly injure themselves when they hit the deck. 2. No one is wearing a life jacket. If they get thrown int the air, hit their head then fall overboard, they could drown. 3. Going out into oncoming waves, the captains are going too fast and stuffing the boat into the waves, swamping their passengers and boat. 4. Coming back into port and you see captains 'overtaking' the wave in front of the boat. Bad idea. You can lose the ability to steer if you go through a wave that's going in the same direction as you are. They should travel about the same speed as the wave in front and only go through it once that waves breaks. When you catch up with the next wave, just repeat.

Do you know about trimming? No. Do you know about weight distribution? No. Do you know about vessel capacity and capability? No. Well let’s just take on Haulover on a windy day shall we.

Your phone is not your life line, the saint on the seadoo is.

We boated, fished, swam, skid on a lake that was usually glass smooth. Everyone wore life jackets, parents, adults, kids. You didn't leave the cabin without life jackets. These people are scary to watch.

6:50 you ask what the captain did wrong? He got out of bed this morning, that was his first mistake.

To see people continually take river/lake boats out on to the sea let alone just those incredibly choppy inlet baffles me to no end. Then load the front to high hell with 1000 lbs of peoples asses just to top it off lol.

In my day in order to get your license to drive a boat you had to go to classes, pass the test and get the license at the DMV (California). There was a safety class included regarding lifejackets/vests, passengers, you know a handbook like driving a car!! Is that not required anymore? Do you not need a license to pilot a boat have passengers onboard??

I will never understand why these people in the bow do not move to stern to level boat off, they stay in front all the weight pushing bow deeper

First- No Life jackets at least on the children. Second- too many people riding the bow of the boat. Too much weight in the front. Third- and this one blows me away that they can’t figure it out is trimming the motor up, this causes the prop to drive downward and forward lifting the bow higher. More throttle higher bow.

10:02 Not really the best time to learn how to put on a life jacket. AND They are called LIFE JACKETS for a reason people. Sorry, we all know this I'm just yelling at the fools on this video. I always wear SOSupenders. They sit flat against your chest for little discomfort and when you hit the water it automatically inflates. I don't know about them but my life is worth a $100 investment. What did the captain do wrong? He started the boat’s engines.

I don't care what the weather is, those small open bow boats are just asking for trouble. Kids in the bow or in the boat at all without lifejackets SMH, I don't get it.

If the kids have on lifejackets they will float, then the parents HAVE to go back for them.

i know it’s scary but sometimes you need to go faster in rougher water just get on top of the waves. it me a long time to get over the fear of going fast in rough water but once you find that speed and proper trim setting for the conditions it is so smooth

In the UK we often have fun races at regattas called 'bath tub race', where people knock up boats made of all sorts of things. All originated from craft made from bath tubs

That girl early on falls into the water and all she can think about is putting her phone above water...smh

Thing is... These silly lake boats are absolutely not suited for this. But also its not a big windy, wavey day. Its the shape of these "inlets" that creates this situation. They are not professionally built. Instead of this being a daily rescue operation, they should just fix it and do it properly. This does not happen anywhere else.

Do these glorified bath tubs have bilge pumps? They do seem to be able to fill up to the gunwales and stay afloat so it seems like they're just a sealed compartment full of foam or something.

What people fail to realize is that these are not ocean waves.These are river waves from all the current flowing out of the cut, a completely different animal.

@@Justin-hz8bh with ocean waves the energy moves and the water stands still. In a river wave, what rafters and kayakers call "standing waves" the water moves and the wave energy stays stationary. Watch the videos and the bad waves are always in the same spot, they have much steeper faces like breaking waves that surfers love. You don't see ocean boats in the surf for a reason. So ocean waves are much easier because the faces aren't so steep.

Never been there but this is clearly a bar-way, where the incoming and outgoing currents dump sand at the mouth, making it shallow, causing ocean waves to stand up as they reach the sandbar. Only constant dredging can fix that

You need to learn what you are talking about. There is no difference between "river waves" and "ocean waves". What you are referring to in a river is rapids. Rapids are formed by stationary objects in the water - hence why they don't move. Waves are formed by tidal forces and wind and current. These waves here are caused by tidal flow and the wind going opposite of the tide. Heading into the waves can cause a choppy ride if you don't know what your doing (like the idiots in this video). Going the same direction as the waves is called a following sea. It's usually smoother but if you aren't paying attention the wave can catch up to u and swamp your transom.

Because the bottom features in the cut are causing standing waves just like in a river rapid. Watch multiple videos and the top wave is in the exact place every time. There weren’t even enough for everyone on board. Not to mention, the boat was over loaded with people. I see all these people sitting in the front of the boat. That's the worst place to be. They should be in the middle to reduce the 'bounce' effect. I grew up by the sea in NZ. I am now 62 and used to row a 12 ft alloy boat in waves like that as a teen with no problem. We had to take the boat out, Sink it, flip it upside down, turn it back over, empty the water, and row back to the shore while my father watched from the beach before we were allowed to go out by ourselves. ps. The boat had polystyrene under seats etc so it didn't sink to the bottom. We also had to wear a life jacket while leaving or returning to the beach through the surf. Great content. Good work.

That's a whole lot of folks with more dollars than sense. 😯

It's crazy to see how loaded these boats are with people. The Canadian coast guard has stricter ratings than America. I have a Canadian and American label on my 17 foot Lund and the capacity rating is higher for the American coast guard. 6 people compared to 4 people in Canada.

Reverse sheer might look cool but it means your boat scoops green sea over the bow? Stay on the lake or go out when it is calm.

We learnt a long time ago that bows need to be really high... but bows that slope down are really pretty so we do that now, even if it means the boat getting swamped and maybe sinking.

The second boat is so damn lucky he didn't capsize or sink. Amazing how stupid some so- called Captains are! Open bows, not a PFD in sight, rough seas....buy a toy boat, stay at home and play with it in the pool!

Under 16 y.o bow riding in these conditions captain should be ticketed and and mandatory 1 year suspension of license. Not sure the captain realizes how close some of these kids were to going overboard with no life vests on. PS if you gonna play in the inlet leave your dog at home!

What's telling about a lot of these credit card captains taking water over the bow is that NONE of them seem to have the engine(s) trimmed up to help lift the bow up and keep it from scooping up the waves. It's the first thing I do in very rough water...it can make for a rougher ride, but a dry one. It is much more effective on the smaller boats I imagine but they need it more.

Probably the best occupation there is a dentist: there must a a never ending queue of people needing broken teeth fixing.

The second feels like they might have some experience but it's only ever been 1-3 people. They seemed to be driving the boat like it was much lighter and not bow heavy - as if it was habitual.

Small Craft Advisories are put out for a reason although I think most people disregard them? Overloaded boats(too many ppl) are trying to go out & the Captain doesn't know how to read the water let alone be responsible for his guests.... Sometimes the wisest move is to turnaround & go back to port.....

9:39 the moment I saw this boat full of people like that I knew it was gonna be a bad one Most of these people that buy boats have never driven about before have no clue how to approach waves. Just think they can flirt it and go, but all of a sudden they’re boat turns into a torpedo.
