ANGRY CAPTAIN LOSES HIS COOL AT HAULOVER INLET | BOAT ZONE

Ойын-сауық

Haulover Inlet in Florida is a popular spot for experienced boaters seeking a thrill. Known for its challenging conditions and strong currents, the inlet connects the Atlantic Ocean to the Intracoastal Waterway and is famous for its rough waves and strong winds, which can make boating hazardous. Despite the risks, many boaters are drawn to the inlet's challenging conditions and the opportunity to navigate through it.

It was kinda crazy, I was looking around at the water just to see if it was just going overboard. It makes sense, they do have 3 thirsty engines on them.

    Only boats 20’ and less are required to have a capacity rating. That said many bigger boats also will have a manufacturer capacity tag but is really just a recommendation. It’s the captain’s responsibility to insure the boat is not overloaded, equipped properly and is responsible for the passenger’s safety. My boat is rated for 8 but I never have more than 6 people on the boat.

  • @allenarneson4349

    @allenarneson4349

    28 күн бұрын

    Yes that capacity rating was a 1972 law. But I know some boats under 25 foot but over 20 foot have those ratings. BTW - Do the math. Those rating are estimated at 150 lbs per person. So do your calculations accordingly. ALSO the Capacity is rated with gear. So ice chests, skis, and other misc stuff reduces the safe limit of people on the boat.

    Capacity rating is actually not a recommendation. If your boat says 8-12-or 20, if you are one person over, the USCG can board you and they will write you a citation. They love nothing better than boarding you and going through every little detail on you and your boat. The more violations, the better. The water is their domain, not the state. They also cover certain inland waters.

    Using a phone while boating. in truth it depends on what you are doing, and how often you are scanning. Smaller boats may not have the same "navigational" equipment as larger boats have access too. Some boaters instead use phone based apps and gps mapping. So if you are scanning properly, then checking your nav maps for, it should be no different then having your nav maps on the dash.

    I have to agree with this Area of ater that the one thing missing is a speed limit. Larger Boats will always bully the smaller ones and more so when speed is invoved. I honestly do think how even most Boat drives need a Pshyc teste on there ablity to even make a decision as to show any type o considertion to others. There is one other thing i feel adds to this Dangious area is the Design of most of the boats being all open at the very front and place for a wave to come on board and sink you .

Also in many European Countries only the Navy can issue these licenses which makes it even harder to obtain one. The Navy doesn't goof around when testing candidates and my guess is this is the exact reason why we don't see this kind of behavior in European ports and inlets. A question from a New Zealand offshore sailor.... (So dont jump down my throat for asking as ive never been to the inlet.) Other than rough currents in the channel (which most seasoned sailors are used too) Is there any reason as to why you never see yachts coming and going in the channel?

    There is a fixed-height bridge after going through the inlet. They have numbers written telling you how much room you have. It's not that much. Big Sports fisherman go out Government cut. Captain Keith Tight lines

    @@waynemonastra5607 The inlet was a man-made thing back in the 20's or so and the highway and the bridge came in the Fifties. Over Government cut there isn't any highway and that also is the Place all the cruise boats stop. Further south are some shallow-depth inlets only good for boats under 50 feet.

    I can't believe how many people don't wear life preservers. They always think it won't happen to them. Then when it does? Plus in high waves I usually keep everyone in the back of the boat until we get in calm water. And some of these captains don't look like they are good at swimming.

    @@markguerin701technically I don't believe there is such a thing as outbound lane or path. For standard rules of the road the middle finger captain had right of way as he was in the forward starboard of mr moneybags. Perhaps middle finger should have taken a wider path but we can't tell by the video. Not saying he isn't a jerk but believe he was in the right regarding seamanship.

    @@1Carjunkie We don’t really see that Captain Middlefinger was on the give way side of the outbound boat. The telephoto lens can mess with the separation we perceive on the video. Even so, if the outbound boat started as the give way vessel he may have assumed there was no conflict and would pass behind the other boat (seeing a change in relative bearing). But did the other boat turn to port, in to the inlet? When one boat is required to give-way, the other boat is supposed to stand-on (yes there are reasons a stand on vessel may have to change course or speed). I got the feeling that Capt MF was just being a little bitch - at the end of that clip it looked they’re telling the next boat to slow down or something. Out in a rough and busy waterway, and wants everyone else to accommodate him. Could be totally wrong - we don’t se the entire scenario so I’m guessing.

    Piloting a boat through an inlet like Haulover and looking up a phone number in your cell phone is foolish. Captain Middlefinger should have given way to the other boat. Maritime law states that a captain must take whatever action is necessary to avoid a collision with another vessel.

    The safety of the onboard pet is secondary to the mental state an owner is subjecting his pet to. Some if not most animals do not like being on the water. Np matter how much the owner wants to believe they love it. They're just lucky that their pooch can't speak English, because if it could they wouldn't like what it has to say to them.
