    Who is saying this about the Russian teams and Olympiakos? It does not make sense. Olympiakos had all remaining games vs Russian teams at home. Most probably they'd win at least 2 of them. There is no reason to believe Olympiakos would be lower in the standings or that they'd have problems kicking Zenit or Unics out in the play offs. Would be more of a question for the problematic Real or Efes last year who struggled up until the F4

    It's time for another surprise this year. Željko winning his 10th title with the team where he won his first. His heart was always with Partizan all these years. And you're right, those two matches against Red Star in Belgrade will be like a war because in the domestic league you can't have fans from both sides. So after many years we are going to have both fans in the Arena. God help us all 🙏

    The NBA may have the players, but they will never have the passion and the fans. I am always in awe at how much the atmosphere is elevated by European basketball fans, even if their teams aren't as storied or known as NBA teams. It makes me wonder if all American sports are just that plastic (save for Baseball). No one stands up, no one sings, there are no tributes or chants. Just ... DE-FENSE and canned music. Over ... and over ... and over ...

    i have lots of respect to Basketnews analysts , But there is an extreme overreaction on Maccabi's rebuild , it's a funny double standard , after maccabi you ask if monaco's backcourt is the best when all of their players are shoot first guys. brown-hilliad-baldwin is a bad and james-okobo-loyd is good ?? Brown is the only player that have pass first mentality ,he lead kazan (with scoring guards like kannan and mayo) and spain to the top in a less good rosters.

  • @BasketNews_com

    @BasketNews_com

    I'd say with Monaco it's a bit different. They just added & replaced backcourt players with better ones, whilst keeping Mike. Maccabi quite literally got a new squad together, so I am more sceptical about them than Monaco.

  • @ofirhajaj

    @ofirhajaj

    @@BasketNews_com i understood your reasoning and you may be right , but if you analise that character of the players : Brown is a Pass-first PG , Hilliard aldready played a shooters role in CSKA in a good way , Hollins has a great character and known for his defense, all 3 have great personal - character , and to what im hearing - Baldwin is a great guy . on the other hand james,lloyd,okobo are basiclly all shoot first guards and altough they added to a good team , this may be subtraction by addition it's harder for me to see monaco's 3 share the ball then maccabi's (that acctually has a pass first leader).

    I hope Euroleague gets big. Going to start watching Euroleague/European because I want to see other kinds of basketball. NBA basketball and culture around it has gotten a toll from me. It’s hard to enjoy sometimes with Joe games is played and toxic culture. It’s too player centric and I don’t feel a connection to a team like I do in Other sports and leagues around the world and in America. I still love the NBA and prefer it over European basketball, but I feel it will be a good escape to watch a different league. I see the passion from fans and style of play and it’s still great l/quality baskwtball.

  • @markomarkovic5729

    Very true. To be fair, the incompetent FIBA opened the door to fraudsters like Bertomeu. ULEB's last offer in the summer of 2000 meant that FIBA still had a majority in the board, but Bora Stanković arrogantly refused it, considering that the clubs are not capable of organizing the competition on their own. That's how we got to the point where national championships have no significance, nor passability in the Euroleague, because most clubs have a license and the EL will almost certainly become a closed competition. That doesn't even happen in the UEFA Champions League, where clubs have incomparably more money, but it's still possible for giants like Barcelona and Manchester United to skip a season in the CL. On the other hand, players leave for the NBA earlier and earlier, and average players and Americans of questionable quality remain in Europe. Today there would be no chance for players like Bodiroga and Diamantidis to spend their entire careers in Europe.
