Test Your Court Vision & IQ! (& Milos Teodosic Passing Breakdown)

Спорт

Milos Teodosic is one of the more impressive passers of all time, in my opinion. His ability to deliver a wide variety of passes, see the game a step or two ahead of the game, lead teammates, and be precise with his passes is absolutely unreal. In this video, you'll put your court vision to the test and learn from one of the best.

I tore my ACL twice in the span of 2 years, couldn't play contact for 2.5 and came back better than I was before. I've never really understood why but your videos really helped me get it. I basically studied the game. I watched all the basketball I could, and even just playing mycareer on 2k and trying to get assists I got better at understanding the flow of the game and the natural movement of the players, which made everything slow down. Love your videos man, keep up the amazing work

Same story here, basically. From 19 until 23, I was basically only inured. ACL, Meniscus three times, broken elbow, broken hand, broken femur, an ankle sprain. I was always the fastest player and as a 5'11 white boy pretty explosive and could dunk. Now at 24, I'm still more athletic than most but not as fast, and it helped me develop my shot and overall feel for the game. That plus added maturity because of age. I was always a good passer, but now everything is so much easier. I can totally relate to your experience.

Used to idolize Steve Nash because i've always had really good passing talent, but never had the ball handling skills to be the true PG. So when I was young and athletic, i actually played more like Ginobli, attacking and slashing while also being a good passer. Got back into ball now, but serious injuries and age and im nowhere near as explosive and im so much slower, but thanks to KZread, and channels like this one, im actually developing far better ball handling skills and am actually becoming a true point guard, and right now, Teodosic is my role model. Love this video so much.

Great stuff, especially the point about reading all players' momentum, which comes with time. Two other things I like to think about are related to defender manipulation. Neither get you highlights or assists, but create big downstream advantages after the next pass or move: -Throwing "average" passes in situations where defenders are not attentive can generate strange defensive decisions, especially in semi transition, where lots of guys fall asleep. -Throwing "lazy" passes to players that are open - defenders get excited and think they've tricked you into giving them an easy steal, and rather than closing out and keeping good position, lunge at a pass, forcing panicked rotations. For what it's worth I only play pickup, so polished players probably fall for this stuff a little less, but you'd be surprised, especially if you can sell it. Always read everyone for opportunities.

A lot of these passes are super obvious to me, maybe cuz I played in Europe. I was taught to read the back line/read the help. I'm looking at the help defender's eyes (if he's looking at me, his man has a cut), looking at his positioning (typically look at the front jersey number.....if I can see that clearly, then he's fully defending his man). It's the same little tricks I used to beat defenders 1v1 (e.g. I see space under the front of the defender's sneakers, means he's not on his toes.....quick burst and I'm gone)

@@cameronhealy8337It's why most of Jokic passes don't seem too insane to me. I can see what he's looking at. Help defender's eyes, front foot, shoulders angled or in line, etc. Plus I'm only 5'9'' and Euro ball players are typically big. Needed every single advantage I could get lol

As they say, elite basketball players read help defense the best. Pretty much everybody in the top leagues can create advantages against one defender but the elite can take their initial defender out of the play then either react to or manipulate the help defenders to facilitate scoring or passing. High IQ players really make the game a work of art.

Yo as guard one of the things i struggle with most is that i’m super efficient and comfortable playing off the ball, but when people start trusting me and putting the ball in my hands off the rip i kinda freeze at the top of the key and i don’t really know what to do. Could you make a video on this?

I'd ask your teammates to set some screens & use those to try & put pressure on the rim or to get yourself and/or a teammate open for a shot, and then be ready to give up the ball. It doesn't have to be too complicated, just try to pull two defenders to the ball and then find an open man. If your teammates aren't good at setting screens, or simply refuse to set them, just drive & kick as you'll probably have created an advantage for one of your teammates, or potentially yourself if you relocate out to the 3 or cut (as defenders tend to stop focusing on you as much as soon as you've passed the ball).

“He was despised and rejected- a man of sorrows, acquainted with deepest grief. We turned our backs on him and looked the other way. He was despised, and we did not care. Yet it was our weaknesses he carried; it was our sorrows that weighed him down. And we thought his troubles were a punishment from God, a punishment for his own sins! But he was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed. All of us, like sheep, have strayed away. We have left God’s paths to follow our own. Yet the Lord laid on him the sins of us all. He was oppressed and treated harshly, yet he never said a word. He was led like a lamb to the slaughter. And as a sheep is silent before the shearers, he did not open his mouth. Unjustly condemned, he was led away. No one cared that he died without descendants, that his life was cut short in midstream. But he was struck down for the rebellion of my people. He had done no wrong and had never deceived anyone. But he was buried like a criminal; he was put in a rich man’s grave. But it was the Lord’s good plan to crush him and cause him grief. Yet when his life is made an offering for sin, he will have many descendants. He will enjoy a long life, and the Lord’s good plan will prosper in his hands. When he sees all that is accomplished by his anguish, he will be satisfied. And because of his experience, my righteous servant will make it possible for many to be counted righteous, for he will bear all their sins. I will give him the honors of a victorious soldier, because he exposed himself to death. He was counted among the rebels. He bore the sins of many and interceded for rebels.” ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭53:3-12‬ ‭NLT‬‬ This was written around 700 years before Jesus came into the earth, yet it describes His life perfectly. "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16 God loves you so much and showed that by sending His Son to die for us so that we may inherit eternal life. We deserve judgement but He gave us heaven through faith in Jesus. He took the punishment we deserved, and by putting our faith in Him we can be saved.
