Hey Larry, My name is Larry also I’ve been a fan of yours for a while my sons been in prison for the last five years here in Florida. I don’t know what to do I bought a deck of cards to donate to the prison factory sealed as I said I could bring. I got their hand them to the guard they pulled me aside call the warden and I haven’t seen my son in six months. He still got another two years to go. I’m not in the best of health and I used to go visit him every single Sunday. I don’t know what to do. I did not try to conceal them high then bring them in without a note without them knowing. I don’t know what to do. I don’t wanna leave my phone number online. I don’t know if there’s someway you can contact me. I’d appreciate any advice you have! Dad just trying to see his son.

"Cameras are out" should be considered hard evidence that whatever crime is being claimed absolutely happened.

when i heard that someone was stabbed at 1:30am in their cell i assumed they were in a birdcage type block with multiple people in one cell but the fact that it’s a one or possibly two man cell makes it fact that guards opened all the cells for the people involved. i’ve been in plenty of county jails and like you said, there’s zero chance an inmate can open those doors. even if inmates manage to open their door an alarm will go off and every officer in the building will come storming in. this is fucking ridiculous.

At the bexar county jail in San Antonio inmates have “popped doors” from inside their cells. Either by a sheet used as a rope when officers aren’t paying attention and or filling in the door latch hole with certain trash to keep the latch barely hitting the edge of the hole but when doing either or a red blinking light and sound will alarm the unit officer control panel

Happens all the time in units on rikers.half the time the doors Crack on there own or don't even stay closed or can be simply stomped open.2 guys can kick it open the doors are so shit

I really respect how Larry can explain things to the point of "explain it to me as if im a 5 year old" but never sounds condescending or as if he is talking down to you. Very hard thing to do.

In my opinion, solitary confinement lasting months or even years is cruel and unusual punishment. It's literally torture for social beings such as humans. It should only be used in the worst of cases if at all.

Bronson served just shy of 30 years in solitary (having never killed anyone)..... But that's next to nothing compared to what Bob Maudsley has, and will continue to serve in a cell which is positioned BELOW the solitary block at hmp Wakefield aka monster mansion

Hey Larry, I just wanted to say (and I’m hopeful you’ll see this) that I am very grateful to you for putting your time into these videos and sharing your experience with us.

Larry I think you are one of the most thoughtful people on the internet. I've never done any time but I've dealt with the authorities over my life. All the best on your quests for justice and sanity.

The guard didnt just OPEN HIS cell he had to open the other ones too.

"Cameras were out" - fire / prosecute EVERYONE who was working that shift.

In the UK the prisons we have are not as good as the ones in Norway or Germany or Holland. But it is very much a unheard of that a prisoner is killed in his cell on remand. And if it did happen the public will demand answers as the prison will be held and investigated from an ouside source,. Thanks for the content from the Uk

Hey Larry! Love the videos man! I’m Sergeant at a prison in the Midwest and we actually had an inmate kick the cell door so hard that 2 of the 3 hinges broke off the wall. Just thought you’d enjoy that.

Nobody gets in or out of a cell without an officers key or them pulling level. Sounds like a pure set up. Been in over 30 county jails and 5 federal prison. You cant break into a cell. Period. Poor dude is lucky to be alive. Sounds like a bad night for him. Someone or a few people should be held accountable and punished according to the law. Their job was to protect dude regardless of what he did. Totally agree about the investigation. Outside agency for sure. Would love to see you get a chance to help make the system a better and safer place. Hard for people to understand how devastating the hole can be and the damage it can cause to your mental state of mind. Willing to bet that Larry can and will make a difference so bullshit like this never happens again and if its does it is handled in a fast, judicial manner. Was interesting to watch. Great video

I am a contracted counselor at a jail, so I was as very interested on how easily two common door locks used in jails were wave-raked picked by the Lock Picking Lawyer (youtube). I am not saying that there wasn't some kind of "coordination" going on between the relevant entities, I'm just observing that as elephant proof as the doors may be, the lock may not be quite so much of a challenge. Also, I would be very interested in your analysis of the Attica prison riot (It just occurred to me that I should check out your channel to see if you have don it). Oh yeah, I do believe our carceral system needs to be scrapped and something better should be put in place.

Hey Larry! I’m a truck driver and I rode right past FCI Coleman the other day and thought of you and what life was like within those walls. Just figured I’d share.

i worked with camera systems for over 15 years while working retail loss prevention camera systems all have back up batteries both on the dvr and the camera domes themselves. THEY DON'T JUST GO OUT UNLESS SOMEONE HITS A BREAKER. I HAVE NEVER ONCE SEEN AN ENTIRE CAMERA SYSTEN GO DOWN ON ITS OWN

The only way I’ve seen a jail prison door open is when you stuff your door lock and card it open but I sincerely doubt he had his door lock blocked! As another person who has been to prison, I really enjoy your channel! I’m looking forward to getting your book! Thanks for this video!

Anxiety depresses the heart while a kind word leads to gladness

The county jail I was in is only a few years old and there is a way to make a door seem closed and latched with a toothpaste cap, but the guards can see on their screen that the door is blinking red or whatever indicating it isn’t latched. They are also supposed to check every door at night lock in.

I have to agree...there is absolutely NO WAY that inmates breached a cell door, in any way. Unfortunately I've been in jail cells before, and it's just not possible. If they could break into a cell, they could break outta one...and that's just not happening.

I was in an older 270 design prison with doors but still very old ones at that so sometimes they would malfunction and require multiple cops to address it immediately because an alarm is going off in control that the door is not secure yet. Sometimes it's a fault sensor, but the reality is they will know the moment that door is getting bypassed. Plus, the electronics and mechanisms that you would have to fuck with are behind steel and concrete OUTSIDE and above the door out of reach even if you were standing outside the cell hands free. Even if you had a fucking crow bar your are NOT opening that door without setting off every alarm in the facility. These things are literally fool proof. It would take a catastrophic failure of multiple redundant systems and alarms to fail all at once. Not happening. Also the doors lock into place in such a way that if power is lost and the locking mechanisms fail, it's still gong to be physically held in place by a dead lock that can only be manually disengaged with the right key. These doors are fucking nuts. Not only that but your door HAS to be in site of that units control room. They need direct line of site at all times. Simply put, they let the guys in, they saw they got in, and they did nothing about it... That is scary as FUCK!

Eh from Canada you have to say something when the system totally alienates prisoners from society . I am proud that you are the voice for fairness and normality. I don't know about lucky; he's got a long road to recovery ahead, especially with his horrific injuries. I wish him the best of luck, very few people deserve this type of treatment.

But he served his time in Arizona (extasy) he has a podcast with loads of old school characters. Real porridge is good too for a different angle. He's an ex screw who's down to earth n talks a fair bit about mental health over the wall. Uk prisons very similar in many ways to American but kinda very different at the same time 🤔 German prisons are on another level and in Norway, you're pretty much living an idealistic lifestyle apart from sleeping alone n not being allowed to go out socialising 👌

I've seen a playing card folded up and tucked into the striker on a swinging door, but you're right, you can't rig a sliding door or pry it open.

There was a dude on 60 days in named Champange in the Fulton County jail who opened up his own door from the inside infront of a camera crew. The COs reaction looked like it was a common occurence.

I’ve been saying this since I’ve been old enough to understand anything about law or the justice system. Agencies shouldn’t be able to sweep their own crimes under the rugs by “investigating” themselves.

Hi Larry. You are so incredibly interesting!!! I was in a jail and prison, not as an inmate but part of the prison ministry with my church. It could feel a little scary when we went into certain areas. We weren't in contact with killers etc but we could hear all of the nonstop screaming on our way to the area where we would be and on our way out. I can see why people can lose their minds!! Keep educating us Larry and thank you for sharing with us

I’ve seen it mentioned MANY places where inmates jam the mechanism up so it never fully locks, then they have access at any time. Blanket statements are no good brother! Love the channel!!

As a current deputy sheriff, the only way an inmate/ detainee gets out of that cell at 1:30am is if an officer buzzed or keyed the door. No question. Not to mention buzzing/ keying the next door so the guy can get assaulted.

Rikers island is like playing razor tag in a box.

True words Larry 💛 if they are able to get “in” a locked door they also should be able to get “out”, so what’s a prison there for? 🤣🤣 Very sad story. I don’t understand how can people be so mean. Stabbing 20 times, that’s not anger, that’s rage.

Hi Larry, I enjoy your videos they teach me a lot and make me laugh often. I was hoping you could speak on the New Mexico State Penitentiary riot of the 80s

It's not just getting into his cell; how did everyone else get out of theirs? WTF is going on that you can have a small mob break out of their own cells and into someone else's in the middle of the night and the guards supposedly don't know about it? And legally, the moment you're under arrest until the moment you're free, whomever has custody of you-has you in their "care and custody"-had a duty to see to your care and wellbeing. It's hard as hell to enforce most of the time, but in theory it exists. So that's going to be part of whatever lawsuit come out of this. This is one of the reasons custody transfers are so full of paperwork; whomever has you on their books at that exact moment has their ass on the line when it comes to anything bad happening to you.

Larry my ritual is when you make a blog I light a cigar and listen. You are the reason why I believe in prison reform, the system is messed up.

I was on the Darrington unit that was built in the early 1900’s and albeit it was an old bar door setting we where able to “pop” our doors and come out.

Until about 2 months ago the cell doors did NOT lock or was easily manipulated. It’s not always the correction officers sometimes it’s politics. Thanks to Mayor Adams & the new commissioner things are changing for the better.

An example of the cells being impossible to break into. During the New Mexico Prison Riot, the rioters could only break into cells with blow torches(don't ask me how the outside workers were allowed to leave their tools unattended overnight in a freaking prison!!)... and it took them 5 hours to get through(it was an even more secure cell than just normal cells. It was the door for the unit that help CM, people with mental problems, etc.

It's called popping the lock. Down here in Texas, you pull the door up a bit and sometimes the lock will pop. You can also put toilet paper in the mechanism and that helps it . but it's possible in some places.
