Well, not full "sets." A set is the entire act as performed on stage. Not every joke they have, but every joke they told in a given performance. So, if a comic is on stage for an hour, that whole hour is a set.

I love that Kathleen Maddigan went for a drink of water mid-bit and realized she was about to mess up her timing so she just delivered the line with water still in her mouth lol. A true professional.

Amy is a well-connected “comedian” for whatever reason, and it just appears she has writers who like to find jokes that have worked in the underground scenes so they can replicate them with a twist for guaranteed laughs. They hope no one sees, and for the most part they might be right. Her audience probably doesn’t watch good stand up from back in the day. It’s fucked up, and I don’t know why the industry is behind her. They treat her like some superstar comic who they really want to succeed. It’s so weird. She’s not funny.

Me too. I was thinking, "ok it's fine if someone isn't funny and many of those stolen jokes are actually 'parallel thinking'" and then I saw the first video and then it was just incredibly the same. There is no defending her. It's almost the same. The order of events in sketches or jokes aren't even changed.

@@willbrust9725 I know you were making a joke but clearly mine went over your head and you choose to attack me for something you misinterpreted. I'm not going to punch down and stoop to childish name-calling instead I'm going to explain in case anyone else didn't understand. My joke was that just because you change a few words does not make the joke original and it still counts as plagiarism. The comment, tho it was not a play on Mulaneys brilliant style of comedy, was written with a sarcastic tone and was ment to be a joke. Another note is that I didn't copy and paste my reply either, unlike Amy's content, mine was original. I used "we changed a few words so it's not plagiarism" as a set up for my joke to take the shot at Amy for her blunt plagiarism, maybe I didn't make it clear enough and that fault lies with me but my comment was clearly not meant to be taken seriously. I had thought that the Emojis would help get that point across but obviously it did not. I hope all stay safe and healthy during these trying times and if anyone has read this far, thank you for reading! The edit was typo errors that were corrected.

WHy are all you men so annoyed by a female comedian you dont particularly find funny but would never go to this extent for all the male comedians that copy jokes or you find un funny - you realise this is just plain and simply sexism... MaximMate We’re not annoyed by a female comedian, we’re annoyed by a bad comedian who can’t make their own good jokes. We don’t care about what gender they are we care about the quality of their content. If there was a male comedian nearly as bad and as popular as Amy you can bet every penny to your name they would be getting thrashed even more.

@@ArcaneStar1 Carlos Mencia is a male "comedian", but really he steals more than Amy does, and he's less funny than her. It's really fortunate for Amy that her career wasn't totally ruined from this, and society just let her get away with it. Mencia, as far as I know, no longer has a career because he didn't want to be accused of joke stealing anymore so he just stopped. He probably felt guilty and didn't want to be bothered with all this. Amy Schumer, however, has no remorse and continues to steal jokes or just tell jokes that have little to no substance. It's not anything to do with gender, she is a bad comedian.

Sorry but John Mulaney is the only one awkward enough and naturally funny enough to pull off his own jokes. He has mastered the art of randomness and delivery. Anyone else tries to do them and they sound half assed.

Because there's definitely an audience for Amy. netflix make creative decisions but also commercial ones since theyre a business. giving amy a platform to attract viewers is definitely a commercial choice since shes a bankable female comedian, even though shes unfunny

Dohn Boe I agree. I don’t know how they feel about her now + if she’s got any new specials. I do know they changed the rating system for her a few years back...but I’m out of the loop for everything else. I’d still say Amy is still a bankable name though. Younger viewers or those who are in the loop online & who follow comedy are mostly indifferent to her and dislike her, but for all the casual viewers and all the middle aged white women(inc my mum) Amy Schumer is one of the few modern comedians they’ll know. Similar thing in the movie world with stars like J Law, Melissa McCarthy, Adam Sandler, etc still being bankable lead actors.

Now that the Internet makes it a lot easier to compile all these examples, all those comedians should get a class action together against that cow.

Ok that last bit with the magician was EXACTLY the same. It’s as if Amy wanted to copy your homework but copied it word for word. There’s no way that was a coincidence.

Comedians accidentally tell jokes that are similar to someone else's every once in a while; it happens. But when it's the same comedian who's done it more than twice, you start asking questions.

I think comedians hear jokes and then a few months later they say the joke thinking that they thought of the joke. It happens a lot. But when it happens as much as it happens with amy schumer she needs to realize that’s what is happening. And if she’s profiting off that material that she subconsciously stole basically that is copyright infringement.

Steals other people’s jokes, changes the wording and timings and makes them 100 times less funny

In Joke Theft the actual CRIME is committed when the Thief DESTROYS the Joke with bad Delivery or additional Antics either trying to hide the Theft or attempt to make it their "own".

She is telling the truth. She didn't "see" them perform the jokes. Her eyes were too busy watching the note pad she used to copy them.

I find it hard to believe she didn't at least subconsciously steal these jokes.

Have to admit that first skit was done by SNL even before MadTV. It was a little different, but the underlying joke was the same. There was an "A Chorus Line" type audition with everyone on stage with a lone black actress played by, I think, Danitra Vance. The director wanted her but could bring himself to point out she was black, until he just blurted out "That Black Girl!" which started the skit parodying the 70's sitcom That Girl.

Tbh most comedians have ghost writers that write a large portion of their jokes. The difference between most ghost writers and amy shumers ghost writers is that hers steal from others

It's funny how people who have multiple claims of "parallel thinking" are never on the receiving end of it. Like, if it truly is 'parallel', then surely someone else has 'paralleled' your material before, right?
