And not only that, but if you were innocent in this regard, why would you feel like you need to prove it? She said it about 3-4 times, and it just doesn't make sense. If she didn't steal - like she's claiming - there wouldn't be anything to prove, but she feels like she needs to go out of her way to do so? It's easy to group her in the same category, but the difference here is Amy is a comedian's comedian and respects the craft, and is genuinely funny, unlike Mencia, who IS just a professional plagiarizer. IF PATRICE WAS ALIVE, HE WOULD KNOW AMY DIDN'T STEAL ANY JOKES. I've been a fan of both for years, and they were close friends.

+Jimmy Donohue There is a thing called inadvertent plagiarism, where you can hear or see something that recedes into your subconscious only to think it was a novel thought later on. Whether or not you like Amy is not the question, her integrity is the question. So whether or not she did see or hear those jokes (which I don't think she did), or whether or not you like her, I highly doubt she wasn't conscious of the 3 or 4 jokes being told by other people, plus one of the supposed plagiarized works was the product of her staff writers for her tv show. A comedian produces countless material over their career, so 3 or 4 jokes out of thousands? Come on. That video was so biased and you could a few jokes for literally ANY comedian and make a video like that.

I'm saying as a creator of content, she can't fact check all of the material that comes to the brains of her and her staff of writers, she can take precautions against it but having an original thought in a world of billions of people over decades of content is difficult. IMO It's not stealing when you have an original thought and you inadvertently plagiarize someone you had no clue had the same thought, and most likely the person before Amy who had the "original thought" didn't realize there was a person before them with the same "original thought"

I think it's important to factor in the intent to steal. If you take someone else's phone thinking it was yours did you steal that phone? Maybe, but if you realize later on that it's not your phone, should you be crucified for stealing? No, because it was unintentional.

She's certifiably nuts. Just rambling on and on trying to convince herself she didn't steal the jokes. I used to act like this as a little kid when I wanted to stay home sick from school. She IS a smart person with a ton of money on the line for the specials/world wide tour, so it's easy to see how she would plagiarise. I mean cmon, she could have easily hired a joke "clearance" team to ensure her material hadnt been performed before, especially after being so vehemently accused of joke stealing in the past. This isn't about the general populace disliking your success, this is about integrity. Americans do not like people without integrity, and you've lost your integrity, whether you meant to or not. The general populace absolutely loves Ellen, and she's a successful female stand-up comedian, but we dislike the Kardashians for all the same reasons we dl are angry with you. A lack of honesty on the road to success.

I used to work in the comedy biz and agree, joke thieves are the worst. I have a real hate-on for one of the most financially successful comics in the country for being one, ( F you Bill Mahrer), but I believe Amy 100%.

Hilarious. Not only did she steal jokes almost word for word, her retorts are almost verbatim responses that other hacks used when called out on the subject.

They are not that close right now

Amy is a victim of her own PR machine. People are sick of seeing her face every single day on some sort of social media or whatever. You don't need to put out press releases on your boyfriend or being friends with celebraties or any of the 20 things a week your public relations team feels the need to release. People are sick of seeing her face and apparently she doesn't realize it and the backlash has started. People aren't angry and afraid of women Amy. People are just sick of seeing you begging for attention all the time.

She's such a fan of all these comedians and opened for some (Patrice and Tammy), yet she hasn't heard any of those jokes that are either 25 years old (Wendy) or signature bits... It's kinda weird that as a comedian she hadn't heard any of the stand up that is brought up. Every accused joke, she says she hasn't heard it.

Just to be clear, the gun loophole refers to private sales of firearms and that you have to show your ID to the other person without the background checks required for approved vendors. A gun dealer will go through the paperwork with you, and asking them not to is a great way to get booted from a gunshow.

Amy likes to play honest about everything else in her life to take attention away from the joke stealing is what it sounds like....

No, trust me, there is a community at clubs but as for comics going out of their way to watch other comics and watching other's specials it is uncommon, especially at her levels. There are many international level comics that actually hate watching stand up but enjoy performing it.

For the last time, THERE IS NO GUNSHOW LOOPHOLE. A loophole implies that there are certain laws or regulations that apply generally, but not at gunshows. To a licensed dealer, there is no difference in the rules or process at a storefront or at a gun show. For a private seller, there is no difference between what is required at a gun show vs. your home or anywhere else. There is no gunshow loophole.

I was giving her the benefit of the doubt because I thought she worked with Patrice on a radio show, so maybe they co-wrote that material, because the joke is THE SAME. But for her to give NO explanation as to why the joke is THE SAME is totally unbelievable.

+Elena Dawes private sales. background checks are set up in a way way that once they're completed, they're not in a database in most states. if a gun is resold privately after the initial purchase there is no way to track it. those types of sales are already illegal buy cannot be prevented. databases are not a possibility because that is in some people's mind a route to confiscation. I fear that, not because of losing my property but the loss of life that would happen.

I dunno, it seems a bit farfetched that the Patrice bit was not stolen. The two jokes are absurdly elaborate and inane to come up with and are very different to each other, and she told them back to back, just as Patrice did.. edit: I could even buy everything else.

WTF are you people talking about? Even Von said she didn't take any jokes.

I love the fact that they only had one microphone. It made it impossible for the guest to be interrupted. Every interview should be conducted like that.

Love amy, but methinks she protests too much. Saw the video and the similarities are just too strong. I don't imagine she consciously stole them but more likely heard them, forgot she heard them, and then came up with them a second time. I think it would be better if she admitted that this is a possibility.

About the call at 37:00, I had to look it up because I've never gone to a gun show...but the Gun Show Loophole is this: Most states do not require background checks for firearms purchased at gun shows from PRIVATE individuals -- federal law requires licensed dealers to conduct checks on all sales.

ItsMoi Moí what does that have to do with Comedians calling her out for stealing jokes ? Who cares about people on fab and twitter stealing them ... because she making millions on other people’s talent and work unlike people on twitter and Instagram

The more she keeps insisting "I did not steal jokes" the more guilty she sounds.

Both sets of jokes are in exactly the same order she does them in. That's the damning evidence.

I enjoy Amy's comedy, but she is caught out here. She stole those jokes and couple of them verbatim. In this nearly 1 hour audio, she has not given a single reasonable explanation as to why those jokes are the same. She stole it. Period. I would have appreciated her if she just straight up accepted stealing and apologized instead of this 1 hour rant.

guy points out that its a federal law to require a background check, amy ignores fact and describes breaking the law as loophole, so ignoring a law(breaking the law)is a loophole? so infuriating.

If she isn't the only writer on her show, it is possible. That's the art form.

Tiffany Scherer she clearly sounds like a lying person and how can you open for people then say you don’t know anything about their set then somehow have their jokes in your shit and Kurt stuck up for you because you are his meal ticket and he loves stealing jokes for her

Michael Pucci I have had ingrown toenails funnier than this chick.Slap diet where someone slaps the food from your mouth?...Or that knee slapper about how she thinks guys should pay for sex on the first date.Both of which are probably stolen. If she was going to steal jokes she should have at least picked funny ones,guess she thought these hack jokes would not be missed.Kind of like how serial killers pick prostitutes for their victims.
