I like imagining John Mulaney confessing that this is what he's doing. He just gets up on stage, states his "age" and then says "I give my age in every show, as some people have noticed. Because I'm immortal. And I'm trying to avoid suspicion..... Or that's what the internet would have you believe."

He’s on coke. Watch it again and notice how many times he licks his upper gums combined with the sometimes (totally uncharacteristic for him) involuntary touching of his nose. Coke makes most people talk waaay faster. They can’t pause. Mulaney has talked - on and off stage - about his use of cocaine, but it’s clearly not only in his past. His long pauses and perfect timing used to be epic. Shame because he is so much funnier straight.

Ok the people worried about the crowd being “dead”, the audio is just edited to only focus on audio from the mic. In specials they add in a little bit of the audience audio, but I guess in this video they didn’t.
