To everybody accusing Junkball of missing the modified bridge from Generations... remember the name of the video is *Alternate* Enterprise bridges. Anyway, the Generations bridge gets my vote as favorite all time bridge, followed by Yesterday's Enterprise bridge and All Good Things. Least favorite...Enterprise-E, of course

For Non Canon Alternate Reality Bridges, The I.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D from The "Mirror Broken" Comics has a different bridge design, It has the command area once again raised by the two steps used in All Good Things with the uppermost step having the Terran Empire Insignia proudly displayed on it and the Doors receive the same embellishment with the Terran Empire Logo, the carpet color is also changed from Red and Gray to Brown and Gray. And that is the extent of the Changes made to the bridge for the Mirror Universe Enterprise-D.

@Junkball I don't know how you do it, but keep up the good work! I find it amazing how you take what some would consider a dry subject like doing a video about alternate Enterprise-D bridge designs, but with your attention to detail, excellent music selection, and creative editing (not to mention great comedic timing) you come out with a 7 minute gem that totally brightened my otherwise cold grey Monday and totally made me laugh out loud multiple times! I love your material, and have seen just about everything that you've put out, and I was wondering if you do anything else (i.e. do a Podcast, maybe have a seperate channel, or work with someone on another, etc.)? Thank you again for doing what you do! All the best, - Charlotte

My favorite E-D bridge is actually the version from Generations. I like the fact the command chairs sre up on a two step platform. The two stations on the ramps are cool too. It's very similar to the Yesterday's Enterprise bridge but has a different lighting scheme.

On the Yesterday's Enterprise bridge you missed out the fact that the entire set of aft consoles were replaced. 2:33 Sorry for this weird meta pseudo-stoner post, but I never really thought about how the lighting of this scene makes the AU bridge seem like a set (in a theater sense). Like obviously the bridge is always a set, but in this case the way AU Picard walks in from ‘stage left’ and there’s a light in the center really gives you the impression of walking on to a stage. And in a way, that kind of fits the theme of the episode, that version of the bridge isn’t ‘real.’

Not that they seem to be unable to create a decent series that someone wants to watch without getting the feel of needing a shower afterwards. Even worse, they kill well-intentioned fan projects just because the are (small) dicks. I think it's time for us dedicated fans to invent something on our own that carries the Spirit of Star Trek much better, because they don't seem to comprehend what Star Trek is about anyways.

Some of these bridge layouts are also mentioned in the book "Dark Mirror" by Diane Duane. But they are of an Imperial Enterprise much similar to the "Yesterday's Enterprise". With a much darker, somber layout with MANY more consoles with emphasis on weapons. And the Captain's chair, plush and more like a throne than a chair. The bulkheads on Yesterday's Enterprise are also cruder, with true emphasis on a battleship (no comforts simply function) and an all seeing, all observant Captain with all instruments and tech within his visual reach. That is why the chair is much more elevated. The uniform you mention was worn by many ancient and even later day European and American troops. Its is a belt/weapon lanyard combination typical of British Redcoats which is quite fitting with the red uniforms of Federation high command. You could call it a Baldrick, similar to what Worf wears and since the Federation was fighting for it's freedom from the Klingons, quite appropriate.

  • @morzee94

Potentially controversial opinion but the Voyager Bridge was probably my favourite Star Trek Bridge so far. I felt there was a bit more logic to its layout having ops and tactical in large workstations toward the back, engineering and science to the side and a big panel for con at the front. To me it made all of the stations seem more important and capable of controlling a starship compared to the Enterprise which had relatively small workstations and drew all the focus to the captain and commander.

The red on the command chair in the S7 bridges is matching the colour of the horseshoe. If you go back to the S2 episode Contagion you can briefly see the back of Captain Varley's chair is green matching the horseshoe of the Yamato's bridge. The base and back of the regular command chairs is darker than the side panels though not as dark as to really match the horseshoe

Good video but I thought when I read the way you labeled it that it would also include (Bridges as in Battle Bridge or Engineering area or Holoideck }But I get what you did now :-)

I actually preferred the bridge in Yesterday's Enterprise to the prime one. It felt more realistic, and I think probably the producers felt similar, as the bridge in Generations was fairly close to the Warship Enterprise-D.

I wish that the "yesterday enterprise" enterprise-d had exterior modifications too, if its a warship it should have cannons and stuff, just like future refit

I feel like an unstated element to all this is that the person that changes the tactical desk and the person in charge of side-panel bridge covers are inflection points in the Trek timeline, somehow events are *always* causing them to subtly alter their opinion on what makes for a good bridge design.

Out of all the bridges we've seen, the Enterprise D bridge (and its variants) is my favourite, and I think the warmer colour tones and organic curves is why. The cooler silver and chrome colours alienated me slightly as designs like the Voyager are good, but not somewhere I wanted to go. I would love to serve on the Enterprise D, but not the NX or the Voyager. To be picky, I'm not fond of bridge designs with steps. They're useful to showcase alternative versions as shown here, but Voyager should have realistically had people tripping up and down all the time in battles or when in turbulence.

What I like about the D bridge is you look at it from the screen POV you can see everyone. It's like a band. Picard is the lead singer with is backups on either side. Data and Wesley are on guitar and base and worf is on a reset on drums. Well geordy has his back turned on keyboard but he has his engineering. I like the materials used in Voyager more but look at the screen POV. Paris covered Janeway and chekotay. Kim and tuvok are in weird cages and torez isn't even on screen, I don't think I ever even got a good look at the engineering console.

Well, maybe not the SAME, there's the two side chairs and there doesn't seem to be a stair set but the side consules are still there and it's brighter in the movie than in the episode.
