To hell with this. You play style of disbanding troops is not total war. If you keep doing that, they don't gain experience. Small armies is not total war either.

1. Marry Zhurong 2. Unite all the tribes 3. Find Zhuge Liang and capture him 7 times

@@GOML1112 in my playthrough I was wiping off wutugu as the last big clan after mulu. I kill a difficult wutugu army and turns out if I executed i got lu bus weapon.

I can already see the late-game when Emperor Yuan Shao and his five vassals show up in your jungle with Defenders of Earth and their oil arrows

Ah Meng Huo, the creator of the "Doesn't count. The sun was in my eyes" strategy

Some stuff I learned from playing Shamoke to the point of uniting all the tribes: -If a nanman character leaves your faction and there are no other factions they go to, they will die rather than go to your recruitment pool...this tragically included Meng Huo but hey I got to marry his wife -Wutugu and Shamoke’s weapons are bugged and can only be equipped by your faction leader. If they drop it for you, they can’t have it back, ever. -Nanman rebels frequently have gold weapons and seem to always have at least uncommon ones. -characters recruited via the “random character joins” events always have uncommon or better items -good fuckin luck keeping nanman uniques happy if you pursue the Han route as Shamoke

To the first point, I had some people leave after confederating the last Nanman tribe and they also brought their children/babies. So they were so mad they took themselves and their children to die in the jungle

In 36:12 he lose the duel because you killed the leader of the enemy and it replenishes his health

Wow! You noticed it.

Meng Huo's faction bonus after confederating another tribe is shown ingame when you click on his portrait on the top left and then look for the dots on the right, his faction unique buff is called "King of Kings".

I like the new main menu music! Really cool, nice to freshen things up every once in a while. I can't play the Nanman yet but I am super looking forward to the day I can.

The intro has got to be one of the best

The disappearing weapon bug is back. Hilarious to see the Nanman generals killing enemies with their bare hands.

Alright, something I have been waiting for weeks

I really like the way the Nanman factions can make any character great. My favourite thing to do is make excellent generic or semiunique characters as the factions like Tao Qian and Kong Rong. Before this patch my go to's were Xun You and Du Ji, as both could easily get to 3 100+ stats. Now the Nanman can just do that win anyone XD

nothing makes me happier than seeing elephants trample through enemy lines, especially love taking elephants way further than they historically were. No stopping until the Xianbei see these magnificent beasts!

Love the start! This DLC made me quite interested in the Nanman faction as a whole, have you considered making lore videos on the rise and fall of the nanman? It would definitely be an interesting topic to cover as they are barely mentioned in Chinese history.

The term Nanman is really overarching and not really tied to any certain group so it is hard to quantify them. Nanman was just a term the Han Chinese used to describe any of the many tribes in southern China during that time.

what rise? they are literally called southern savages...

Interesting thing is, once a Nanman general is recruited by the Han faction, he will immediately be impaired by the dense jungle debuff, making him move slower than he used to. It seems the only benefit of recruiting them is to negate the battlefield debuff.

Hopefully no Yuan Shao Vassal spam happens for you, the lasting for 20 turns should be fun if it happens

What I'm looking forward in this playthrough is how tackle good Han armies and level 7 or above Han settlements

just did a mulu campaign myself on legendary legendary. united everyone and went for the emperor for the steam achievement. got my ass kicked by mateng and dong zhuo. stupid slingers hand throwing rocks vs onyx dragons and cataphracts.

Very nice.

Elephant/cavalry charges are so satisfying in this game lol. Probably the best charges in the TW series. If you get it set up right, you can rout 5/6 units at once with a solid charge whilst in formation. Best for this are Cao Caos tiger cubs, as they are quick and powerful with good archer defence. Guerrilla deployment, too. I always fill Cao Caos retinue with at least 4 tiger cub units

Meng huo caused his brother to lose XD. The relationship between those 2 generals were friendly.

My Meng Huo campaign thus far has been a little buggy, one of the temporary bonuses from fealty was called 'Cheaper Construction', it lasted 15 turns but when I hovered over the icon it wasn't actually giving any cost reductions at all. Great concept though, hope it gets patched soon.

Started today also my Meng Huo campaign, but on very hard (I like to pause if I need to). Will be interesting to play my campaign and to see if you did the same or if you did something different. I am always eager to learn from you something new 😉

Wu Ce Li Beng is the head of the yunnan tribes, usually after Lady Zhurong confederates him he gets big mad and leaves right after

Oh you must see, it's not that I don't intend to pay him the goods - well I don't - but it's just that they won't survive long enough to see it

So it begins

i would recommend those of you playing nanman on legendary to not put ur main general on elephants until you have dueled 15 times for the 15% melee evasion. on legendary most of the generals wont duel u immediately so you gotta kill the minions first without hurting their general and toward the end they will be available to duel.

@@SFDPSFDP thanks its pretty op u can get 15+bodyguard10+nanman unique armor10 and u can get a good 30 melee evasion without counting expertise. U can also level all expertise and have ez 50-60 evasion.

@@GOML1112 Awesome, i missed that and will definitely do it like this now when i start a new one. Tbh i only played Mulu legendary so far and started with making Jiaozhi tribes and DuoSi vassals (mistake), but then as i was to finish off MengHuo, he confederated with Lady Zhurong through marriage ( he went from being almost defeated to being the strongest Nanman faction in one turn ) and now i am at war with pretty much everyone except Duosi ( Jiaozhi betrayed me, declared independence) so i could really do with more melee evasion on my units , +15 is really good especially for elephants ( hopefully this bonus is not only for the general right? ). Thank you once again :)

@@christiandauz3742 declaring war on vassals isn't the same as crusader kings 3, cause when you do the vassal master will go to war with you aswell or so. for nanman is just take all the nanman lands and take a certain extra counties you win the nanman victory

Seems the music guy was getting a phone call when recording battle music, you can hear the ring at 1:01:56 lol. I heard it during the previews thought it was ST phone but I heard it in my games as well. The Wolfpack buff doesn't seem to be working like the zhang/qiao didn't work last patch, didn't change their stats plus the skill would be spinning if it was active.

yes this is a known bug for CA

Night battle isnt super important in my opinion to get on a background because if u really want it take an army of 3 people you want it on then ambush 3 armies with it and bam 3x night battle.

man I let the zangke tribe live in my meng huo campaign. Then they wiped out Shamoke, became the vassal of sun ce and gained territory all the way in Jiangxia which i couldn't see. fortunately they asked to be my vassal allowing me to comlete the kingdom. Then they got attacked by every han faction on that side of the map. extremely annoying

I've noticed that they have possibly improved the color pallette or look of records mode since the last update. Did they mention this anywhere?

yo in that failed ambush battle your brother lost because you killed the other general and he healed so much look at 35:25 he was low health but he gets healed after that

It’s a gold item called unique tribal armor. it has the same appearance as meng hou’s brothers armor but it is removable and it’s stats are different

Honestly the base game is so content rich that I am STILL hesitating to get the expansions. I haven't really branched out from the main Han imperial factions. I'm doing yet another Cao Cao campaign. What can I say, it might as well be Total War : Cao Cao's Revenge for how little of the rest of the game I've played through. I'm a simple man 🤣

The patches are so good for this game that unless you are craving for new factions to play you can just enjoy the patches and not buy DLCs

And i think the guy you kick out at the start have unique title because he have 30 stat bonus

The duel went bad because he got enraged got healed

Finally yours started and yea looks like you forgot killing general while in a duel if they have a freind or oathsworn or fallen relative they get health and damage boost that s why you lost the first duel he was so close to winning.

Hello there, just a quick question regarding the new mechanics: So better armour for Nanman generals is only acquired via Armoursmith counties right? And does it work exactly like for Han factions or are there extra requirements? Because I captured the Shu Armoursmith with Lady Zhurong, upgraded it to the mid-tier (2nd highest tier) but after waiting for many turns now and did not get a single new armour... so am I just unlucky because the chance to get ancillaries is really low, is it a bug or do I have to do additional stuff?

just have to wait. The item cooldown for tier two can sometimes be 20 turns.

ah it does seem fun, but it is hard to get "right" and might not be something I can make in short order. I have always wanted to cover the books in Lu Zhi's library and talk about each one and how they relate to some of the philosophy movements during the warring states period, so maybe it can be something like that

i only recruit brilliant generals lol. much cheaper for upkeep too.

Is there a bug for Nanman generic weapons? My generals are fighting with empty hands. Did not see clearly in the dual at 36:10,

so i ended up marrying meng huo as zhurong and had 9 tribes swear fealty but the rest declared war on me, and i had too much land to defend. not quite disaster campaign material but i need a reset.

Which part of the Nanman experience are you having trouble with? The early game uniting all the tribes or the late game dealing with the Han armies? There are a bunch of Nanman related guides on the channel already (unit tier lists, building guides, tribal fealty, and reforms)

I playing the same meng Huo conquered all of south I found it difficult to confederate the tiger lady okay I have a look at the other videos. The hun armies fell like there’s no end but I will beat them back 😂

That event require either a lot of patience on higher difficulties or just go fight her which will trigger a different marriage scenario

You could still promise 1300 to yunan tribe to get some the items or plaib cash.

i dont know if my game is bugged or not but as Meng Huo i confederated Zhu Rong via the event but after she hated my faction and had like 1 satisfaction, she left my faction the very next turn before i could do anything

@@SeriousTrivia I guess that for some reason they left the chance to get "Faction grudge" from being confederated on Lady Zhurong. It seems every leader you confederate (as well as their faction members of course) just has a chance to hate your faction when being confederated. Ahuinan and like 2 or 3 other leaders I confederated as Zhurong had no issues at all but Mangyachang got that -50 satisfaction so I had to dump him... which sucked because he has pretty good heir/advisor/seer stats. What's funny though is that Zhurong married Meng Huo because I picked all the dating events, and after marriage they immediately became oathsworn and really like each other... but as per their character traits they dislike each other and count as rivals when they are in the same army. Is that just a coincidence or is it always like that?

@@lordhelmchen3154 you can have steam archivement for that from oathsworn to rival. The think is you cannot decide what trait your character have and if there is a rivalry build from it, it best to split your general and not in one army (they can reinforce each other to halt oathsworn become rivalry)

@Serious Trivia: I need dating tips from you 😄 Meng Huo had already some successful dates with Lady Zhurong. He really likes her, but then she requested to marry Meng Yuo and give me 2000coins for that. My heart is broken, and money isn't everything. I declined, because I hope that she will fall in love with Meng Huo. But now Yang Feng took the capital of Lady Zhurong while I was confederating Mulu down south. I think I have to rush back and help her. I don't want Yang Feng to confederate her. What would you do?
